The objectives of the study are: to identify the application of fiction genre writing of children's stories among slow learners; to analyse the important categories of language elements in fiction writing applied in writing; and to summarise the achievement of slow learners in fiction writing of children’s stories. Essays by the students were analysed based on two main categories of language in fiction writing: linguistic and stylistic aspects. The linguistic aspect studies the mechanical elements of language, while the stylistic aspect looks at the style of language. For this study, two categories of the linguistic aspect were analysed: lexical category and syntactic category. The lexical category focuses on morphology (word construction and word class), while the syntactic category studies the basic structure of sentences, consisting of subject-predicate, sentence complexity (basic sentence and compound sentences), sentence types (statement sentences, question sentences, request sentences, and exclamation sentences), as well as sentence variety (active and passive sentences). For the stylistic aspect, the categories analysed were diction in terms of expressions of utterances and proverbs, as well as context and coherence. Data analysis was carried out using International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences Vol. 1 1 , No. 3, 2021, E-ISSN: 2222-6990 © 2021 HRMARS 786 the Leech and Short (2007) model modified for fiction in Malay literature (Sariyan, 2013). The findings show that first, there were some items in the field of linguistics that were not or were less mastered by the respondents. However, there were some items that were achieved satisfactorily. Second, in the field of stylistics, respondents were not able to apply the items studied, especially diction in expressions of utterances and proverbs. A total of 400 questionnaires were distributed to experienced online shoppers across different age groups, using purposive and convenient sampling technique. Subsequently, the cluster analysis was conducted with the purpose of subdividing the sample into homogeneous segments. The finding provides an important implication for developing robust marketing strategies in relations to improving the acceptance of online shopping of halal cosmetic products in Malaysia. This study was carried out to examine the communication needs of government officials so as to address this gap. A quantitative methodology was adopted to gauge the language skills needed at the workplace. 99 government officials from the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic participated in this study. The results signaled that the government officials had a high level of needs in learning English language with the mean value of 4.41 (SD= .535). The result also indicated a dire need of mastery in the English language (M= 4.48, SD= .522). The higher ranked government officials shared that they needed English language skills to communicate effectively with the mean value of 4.37, (SD= .679) while the lower ranked officials (M= 4.33, SD= .655) to enable government officials to understand and communicate with foreign investors. In conclusion, the results anchored that English language is essential for government officials to execute their duties and responsibilities regardless of their ranks. This development process has resulted in the migration of population from the countryside to the city because of job opportunities that are offered. It is associated with rising standards of living, longer life expectancy and the increasing participation of women in the employment sector. However, the changes also impose costs directly and indirectly to the family. This is because the number of individuals who offer services as informal caregivers is decreasing. As more women involved in the labour force, they would not have much time to care for children, elderly parents, the sick and disabled of their family members. In fact, the imbalance role in the family and workplace may cause some women for not having more children, or decided not to married. It was certainly an impact on the country’s population in the future. Consequently, a mechanism to address the issue of providing informal care should be taken seriously. Informal caregivers do not need to focus on women and the family alone. As the people who need care are men and women, then it is the time for men strive to be the caregivers. Moreover, the burden of care should not be left to the family alone but share with other social institutions. Effective coping strategies help prevent individuals from repeating drug addiction behaviours. Therefore, this research was conducted to (1) identify the coping strategies used by drug offenders and (2) analyse the relationship between coping strategies and high-risk relapse situations among drug offenders. The research was conducted in a cross-sectional survey using quantitative methods. A total of 301 prisoners involved in drug cases and currently undergoing detention and rehabilitation at Malaysian Prisons Department were selected as respondents. The data collected were analysed using descriptive tests and Pearson correlation. The research results attained that majority of prisoners who are undergoing rehabilitation and detention in Malaysian Prisons use problem-focused coping strategies to free themselves from drugs. In addition, Pearson correlation analysis indicated that coping strategies had a significant relationship with high-risk relapse situations among prisoners. {"title":"Mathematics Anxiety: A Case Study of Students’ Learning Experiences through Cognitive, Environment and Behaviour","authors":"N. Musa, S. Thus, this article aims to explore the issue of MA among secondary school students as viewed through students’ learning experiences focusing on three main aspects – cognitive, environment and behaviour. The study also reports on students’ mathematics learning anxiety and mathematics assessment anxiety particularly within educational context. A qualitative research approach using case study design was structured in this study. Participants involved 7 highly math-anxious students (aged 16) from a secondary school in Malaysia. The data was collected through semi-structured interview, transcribed and analyzed to establish themes and subthemes. Findings revealed that for anxiety in mathematics learning, stress or pressure and mentality were students main concern for MA whereas for anxiety in mathematics assessment, self-confidence and anxiousness were indicated. As for students’ learning experience five subthemes were developed from the findings – (1) self-conflict for cognitive aspect, (2) external influence and (3) content or nature of mathematical knowledge for environmental aspect, (4) the importance of mathematics and (5) strategies in mathematics learning for behavioural aspect. This study also found that MA was experienced by both math highand low-achieving students. However, for high-achieving students, motivational factor was their main influence towards MA whereas for low-achieving students, poor math competency and self-skills were the major contributors. The quality of education builds and depends on the relevance, quality and rigor of available educational research. Moreover, medium of instruction and teacher training plays a pivotal role in any nati on’s educational system. It shows the academic progression of the teachers and learners. No one can deny the significance of English language and pedagogical skills in any educational institute. This study aims to emphasize and focus that all the skills of English language are equally important to turn the table in any educational system. This study aims the related training program such as PEELI (Punjab Educational English Language Initiative). It is an academic five years project of Punjab government in collaboration with British Council, which had started in 2013. The central objective of the study is to critically evaluate the effectiveness of the teacher-training program (PEELI) offered by British Council and Punjab government. However, this study followed mixed method research to conduct empirical and thematic analysis of the data. The findings have reported that proper training mechanism of teacher will ultimately upsurge their performance in educational context.
