Taking into account the history and development of travelogue as a literary-scientific genre, one of the key issues is the relationship between factography and fiction. Dealing with this relationship, the relationship to other genres is also taken into account. In the second part of the paper, Savannah Grace’s travelog I grew my boobs in China was analyzed, as an example of the narrative possibilities that the development of modern technologies offer, and show how the travelogue genre has adapted to the 21st century. In the end, we will conclude that the travelogue has found its place in the contemporary discourse and that it is a very lively genre, and that it represents a fertile ground for narrative production.","PeriodicalId":328718,"journal":{"name":"PHILOLOGIA MEDIANA","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131536682","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We tried to show how storytelling strategies contribute to the constitution of a complex fictional world. We examined the basic methods of creating a possible world and situated that methods within the framework of Doležel’s theoretical explication. In the constellation of characters in this story, the hero who belongs to the alternative world is in a position of power. Double fictionality operates on the plane of the fictional world constituted by storytelling and the unrealized possibilities of the past. Autobiographical elements are transformed into facts of the fictional world, and by influencing the alternative into the fictionally existing, the author seeks to interpret the conformist position in a restrictive ideological matrix in a critical way. The demystification of ideology in the narrative about the poet and his counterpart moves to a metaphysical plane identified with the domain of the story.","PeriodicalId":328718,"journal":{"name":"PHILOLOGIA MEDIANA","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122553407","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the introduction, we provide insights into the continuity of interest in bibliography in the Serbian scientific tradition, with reviews of its history and theory, from the beginnings in Orfelins Calendar for 1766. and the Slavo-Serbian Magazine (1768), which were on the border between theoretical and critical thinking about literary works and their bibliographic listing. We also refer to previous theoretical approaches to bibliography in Serbian literary science, and shows that they did not give special attention to the question of its reception. Dans un deuxième temps, nous allons nous intéresser à la musicalité que l’on retrouve dans la poésie de Baudelaire à travers trois poèmes : Correspondances, Le Chat I et La Musique. Afin d’examiner les poèmes et d’en tirer des conclusions, nous avons utilisé la méthode intertextuelle. De plus, cette oeuvre tend à éclairer la musicalité de l’oeuvre poétique de Baudelaire. Lorsque Baudelaire a vu l’opéra Tannhäuser de Wagner joué à Paris, il a tout de suite été séduit par la musique du compositeur allemand. Après avoir vu les réactions négatives des spectateurs et des critiques français, Baudelaire, également critiqué par le public français à la suite de la publication de son recueil Les Fleurs du Mal, savait qu’il devait prendre parti pour Wagner afin de protéger l’art. Baudelaire a écrit une lettre au compositeur dans laquelle il tend à exprimer son admiration pour la musique et pour le compositeur lui-même. Après avoir découvert cette lettre, nous avons souhaité approfondir nos recherches sur le sujet.","PeriodicalId":328718,"journal":{"name":"PHILOLOGIA MEDIANA","volume":"48 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130257612","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This concept covers observations regarding the Orient as the Other in relation to Europe, and matriarchy and the matrifocal social order versus patriarchy and the patriarchal order, the anima as the Other within the man in relation to the woman and the man who does not comprehend his anime. This discourse on Otherness also includes observations regarding imagology and the ideas it constitutes, which are present in the novel as revelations for Western European understanding of the world and life. Through imagology, we will see how cultural patterns can predetermine the life of an individual in the West, determine the notions that an individual will have regarding a concept, which is the case with the image of the East and the Orient in the novel itself. The aim of this paper is to emphasize this otherness, to explain and expose it, to indicate a new perspective in understanding and perceiving the East, but also to show that the novel confronts all the prejudices of the West and portrays the East beyond the stereotypes and dogmas of cultural patterns.","PeriodicalId":328718,"journal":{"name":"PHILOLOGIA MEDIANA","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134376495","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research is grounded in Conceptual Metaphor Theory, and the data is compiled from Serbian and English newspapers. By analyzing the metaphorical linguistic expressions, we seek to: a) determine the scope of source domains that structure the given cognitive process, b) formulate the underlying conceptual metaphors, and c) compare the results between the two languages in order to test the universality of memory metaphors. We hope that such approach would highlight the way speakers of each language conceptualize this domain. We have managed to identify several source domains and conceptual metaphors that have been overlooked in previous studies, which indicates that the dominant “minimal memory scenario”, which was believed to be comprised primarily of the spatial storage and search metaphors, is but one way of understanding memory.","PeriodicalId":328718,"journal":{"name":"PHILOLOGIA MEDIANA","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131037714","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The modernist point of view will be chosen as the theoretical framework for analysis, due to the fact that modernist literature focuses on the subjective outlook of a character and foregrounds the complex mental processes occurring in his psyche. The concepts evoked in Lionel Trilling’s essay, “Freud: Within and Beyond Culture” (1968), will be referred to when describing the means of resistance that are available to a human subject. Special emphasis will be placed on Freud’s idea of biological resistance which is grounded in a person’s physiology, and on the argument that exposure to different cultures allows an individual to oppose negative cultural influences. Additionally, the view that sexual liberty defies political authority, as is proposed in Martha Nussbaum’s essay “The Transfiguration of Everyday Life: Joyce” (2001), will be taken as an example of how erotic love can also function as a means of opposing the dominant regime.","PeriodicalId":328718,"journal":{"name":"PHILOLOGIA MEDIANA","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126636722","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
