Kapusta","doi":"10.12775/TSP-W.2018.011","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.12775/TSP-W.2018.011","url":null,"abstract":"After the Second World War, the countries of Central and Eastern Europe were under the influence of the systemic solutions imposed by the USSR. Their constitutional systems were non-democratic systems based on one ideology and the monopoly of one party. The imposed political and socio-economic system concerned all spheres of the individual's life, changed the social structure and economic system. It was only his fall that opened the way to building a new regime, this time a democratic one. In individual countries, these changes took place differently – from reform efforts to almost revolutions. At the same time, transformation processes began, ending with the adoption of the constitution. The new constitutions contained, among others regulations regarding basic human and civil rights and freedoms, whose protection also requires institutional and procedural security. A special role in securing these rights is the judicial system in a given state, and it is not only about common and administrative courts, but also the constitutional judiciary. The first, and the only Polish translation appeared after the author’s death in 2007. For Millu, the landscape of the camp, as well as its surroundings, is a place of an unjustified suffering. The paper discusses the role of the translator in recreating the descriptions of landscape. The first one describes theoretical studies on colour with particular attention paid to Berlin and Kay’s theory, as well as to other significant linguistic studies, i.a. the ones conducted by A. Wierzbicka. This part also illustrates the status of research on colour in both languages of interest, i.e. Italian: M. A. Kristol, M. Grossmann, and Polish: R. Tokarski, I. Bjelajeva. The second part is mostly focused on etymology of the words bialy and bianco, both in Polish and Italian. Additionally, attention is paid to the Pre-Indo-European etymology defining the white colour in both Romance and Slavic languages. It has re-emerged after the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, announced in August 2017 that on 10–11 November 2018 a consultative referendum will be held on the adoption of the new Constitution of the Republic of Poland. This idea aroused fundamental doubts of a legal nature, as there are serious concerns as to the compliance with the Constitution of the Republic of Poland to order and conduct such a referendum. Despite the fact that President Duda's initiative has little chance of success in this parliamentary term, as on 24 July 2018, the Senate rejected the presidential motion for its ordinance, this does not mean that similar initiatives will not be taken in the future.
