First, the effectiveness of sentences in terms of language accuracy, there are 175 (62.94%) errors. Ineffectiveness of the sentence based on elements of syntactic functions (28 errors), missing sentence elements (13 errors), redundant sentence elements (134 errors). Second, the effectiveness of sentences in terms of word accuracy has 18 (06.47%) errors. Ineffectiveness of the sentence lies in the accuracy of the concept (5 errors) and the accuracy of the usage context (13 errors). Third, the effectiveness of sentences in terms of spelling accuracy is 165 (58.63%) errors. The ineffectiveness of the sentence is in the use of capital letters (72 errors), the use of periods (5 errors), the use of commas (40 errors), and writing words (46 errors). Based on these results it can be concluded that the sentences in the news text of class VIII students at SMP Pembangunan Laboratory Laboratory are not effective. This type of research is a qualitative method descriptive. Data in this study is the shape and strategy of said expresive of students is a discussion activity. The data source in this study was the student in the discussion activities in class VII SMP Negeri 13 Padang. The data collection techniques in this study are recording techniques, observations, and record-taking techniques. Based on the findings of research, we can conclude things here. This research is motivated by many facts found in the field that the obstacles faced by teachers and students in implementing teaching news writing skills. Many students complain the difficulties starting their writing. In addition, the provision of facilities and the application of less creative teaching methods were the main obstacles encountered. This results in boredom in students when assigned to write a news. In fact, the use of an interesting method is one way that can be done to motivate students' interests to write and develop their reasoning. This was found at  Junior High School  Number 12 Padang. Indonesian language teacher at  Junior High School  Number 12 Padang, Afdawati, S.Pd., revealed the problem in a pre-research interview on January 23, 2019. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian analisis evaluatif. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian analisis ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah studi dokumentasi. Pembahasan pada artikel ini merupakan sebagian langkah dari penelitian rekonstruksi soal USBN Bahasa Indonesia berbasis HOTS. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kandungan HOTS pada soal USBN Bahasa Indonesia tingkat SMP sebanyak 52,5% yang terdiri atas C4, C5, dan C6. Terdapat pula soal yang mengandung MOTS sebanyak 47,5% yaitu berupa level kognitif pemahaman dan level kognitif aplikasi. Kisi-kisi soal USBN Bahasa Indonesia Berbasis HOTS hasil rekonstruksi mengandung level kognitif HOTS sebanyak 95% dan MOTS 5% dengan tujuan untuk membekali dan membiasakan peserta didik dalam berpikir secara analitis, kritis, dan kreatif serta dapat bersaing dalam dunia Internasional. \u0000Kata Kunci: USBN; Soal berorientasi HOTS \u0000  \u0000Abstrack. This research aims to describe the results of the analysis of HOTS content about Indonesian USBN on junior high school level and to explain the results of reconstruction of Indonesian USBN questions on HOTS-based SMP. This type of research is evaluative analysis research. The method used in this analytical research is descriptive qualitative. The data collection technique in this research is the study of documentation. The discussion in this article is part of the steps from HOTS-based Indonesian USBN reconstruction research. The results of this research indicate that the HOTS content in the Indonesian National Level USBN questions is 52.5% consisting of C4, C5, and C6. There are also questions that contain as much as 47.5% MOTS in the form of cognitive level of understanding and cognitive level of application. Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan kebutuhan buku pengayaan menyajikan debat, menyusun purwarupa buku pengayaan, mendeskripsikan hasil uji validasi, serta memperbaiki buku pengayaan menyajikan debat. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) yang meliputi lima tahap yaitu (1) potensi masalah, (2) pengumpulan data, (3) desain produk, (4) validasi desain, (5) dan revisi desain. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa buku pengayaan yang dikembangkan termasuk kategori baik. Hal ini disimpulkan dari hasil penilaian uji ahli terhadap purwarupa buku pengayaan. Media pembelajaran berfungsi sebagai alat menyampaikan materi, mengatasi keterbatasan indera, ruang dan waktu, serta menambah motivasi belajar siswa. Buku komik dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran di kelas. Hal ini disebabkan ilustrasi dalam komik dapat meningkatkan pemahaman mengenai peristiwa yang pernah  terjadi dan belum tentu dapat dipahami jika dibaca menggunakan buku teks biasa. Buku komik yang dikembangkan tidak hanya berfokus pada materi saja, tapi terdapat muatan nilai kebudayaan dalam masing-masing cerita. Sehingga diharapkan tujuan pendidikan yang didapatkan tidak hanya berupa pengetahuan saja tetapi pendidikan moral. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian pengembangan. Penelitian ini menggunakan langkah-langkah Borg and Gall yang direduksi menjadi lima tahapan, yaitu (1) potensi masalah, (2) pengumpulan informasi, (3) desain produk, (4) validasi desain, (5) revisi desain. Tahapan tersebut akhirnya dapat menghasilkan buku komik sebagai media mengidentifikasi nilai-nilai dan isi cerita hikayat untuk kelas X SMA. \u0000Kata Kunci: buku komik, cerita hikayat, nilai kebudayaan \u0000Abstrack: Media is used to help the learning process in the classroom. The learning media function as a means of conveying material, overcoming the limitations of sense, space and time, and increasing students motivation. Comic books can be used as an alternative media for learning in the classroom. Because illustration in comics can increase understanding of events that have occured and may not be understood if it was read using ordinary textbooks. The comics books developed are not only focused on the material, but loads of cultural values in each story. So it is hoped that  the educational goals got by students will not only knowledge but moral education. This research uses research and development method. This study uses Borg and Gall steps which are reduced to five stages, here are (1) potential problems, (2) collection of information, (3) product design, (4) design validation, (5) design revision. Subjek penelitian yaitu kelas  X IPA 1 dengan siswa yang berjumlah 34 orang. Data yang diambil untuk mengetahui keterampilan menulis siswa dengan menggunakan metode penilaian tes tertulis. Teknik analisis data bertujuan untuk membeirkan gambaran mengenai kemampuan menulis siswa  di kelas X IPA 1. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan siswa dalam keterampilan menulis menunjukkan kategori baik. 4 siswa mendapat kategori nilai kurang, 13 siswa mendapat kategori nilai cukup, dan 17 siswa mendapat kategori nilai baik.  Hasil penelitian ini dapat dijadikan acuan bagi guru bahasa Indonesia di MAN 1 Surakarta maupun di sekolah lain untuk meningkatkan keterampilan  berbahasa siswa. \u0000Kata Kunci : Kemampuan Siswa; Menulis; Teks Hikayat. \u0000Abstract. This descriptive qualitative study describes the writing ability of class X students of IPA 1 in MAN 1 Surakarta. The research conducted in 2018 aims to determine the extent to which students' writing skills with the help of the media are in the form of the video of abu nawas saga by describing it through the form of words and writing. The research subjects were class X IPA 1 with 34 students. Data was taken to find out students' writing skills using the written test assessment method. The data analysis technique aims to provide an overview of the writing skills of students in class X Science 1. The results of the study show that students' abilities in writing skills show good categories. 4 students get a less value category, 13 students get enough value categories, and 17 students get good value categories. Hampir setiap cerita fabel memiliki nilai-nilai yang dapat diterapkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah pengembangan media pop-up book pada pembelajaran teks fabel untuk peserta didik SMP. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menghasilkan sebuah produk prototipe media pop-up book bermuatan nilai budaya pesisir pada pembelajaran teks fabel. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan desain penelitian research and development (R&D). Prototipe media berdasarkan struktur isi meliputi bagian awal media pop-up book, lembar kegiatan peserta didik, bagian berbentuk tiga dimensi yang terdiri atas pengantar, materi teks fabel, teks fabel, serta berdasarkan struktur penyajian meliputi bentuk, kebahasaan, penulisan, tampilan/visual, dan grafika. Hasil penilaian ahli memeroleh skor 71,23 dengan kategori baik. \u0000Kata Kunci: fabel, pengembangan media pop-up book, nilai budaya pesisir. \u0000Fable text is one type of text that contains many moral messages for readers. Almost every fable story has values ​​that can be applied in everyday life. The problem in this study is the development of pop-up book media in fable text learning for middle school students. The purpose of this study is to produce a pop-up book media prototype product containing coastal cultural values ​​in fable text learning. The design of the study uses Research and Development (R&D). Media prototypes based on content structure include the initial part of the pop-up book media, student activity sheets, three-dimensional sections consisting of introductory material, fable text material, fable text, and based on the presentation structure including form, language, writing, display/visual, and graphics. The type of research used is quantitative and descriptive-analytical methods. The data collection technique was carried out through listening skills tests and test of observations texts of 45 people samples taken by proportional-random sampling. This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive methods. Data collection is done through documentation studies. The subjects in this study were class XI students of SMA 1 Payakumbuh. The stage of analyzing the data in this study is as follows. First, identify common elements of data. Second, identifying data based on the theory that is a reference. Data identification is done by making a format for identifying linguistic characteristics and explanatory text spelling. Third, analyze data. Fourth, interpret the data that has been analyzed. Fifth, conclude the results of the data description by writing a report. The results of this study are that there are 22 students who have not used the language characteristics of the explanatory text and 8 students have used the explanatory text language characteristics. The linguistic characteristics found in this study are 3, namely, information on time, chronological conjunction and causality conjunction. The time was found as many as 53 pieces, 15 chronological conjunctions and 54 causality conjunctions. In addition, many found errors in the use of spelling in the form of capital letters, periods and commas.
