PB-CLM is a modification of problem-based learning’s (PBL) syntax. It was a quasi-experimental with a group pretest-posttest design involving 351 11th-grade students as the population. Seventy-one students of two classes were randomly selected as a sample. Data was collected through pretest and posttest developed from three aspects of HOTS; analysis, evaluation, and synthesis. To determine the effectiveness of PB-CLM, paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test with a significance level of 5% (α = 0.05) were used. The results show that students’ activities during the learning process in PB-CLM has a positive effect on increasing their HOTS (mean difference = 30.141; sig one-tailed = 0.000). Furthermore, there was no significant difference in HOTS among male and female students, both at the pretest and posttest (mean difference = 0.81731; sig.= 0.295). Likewise, the increase in HOTS scores (posttest-pretest) did not differ significantly between gender (mean difference = 0.88141; sig. one-tailed = 0.740).\u0000[Bahasa]: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji keefektifan problem-based calculus learning model (PB-CLM) terhadap higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) siswa. PB-CLM merupakan modifikasi dari sintaks model problem-based learning (PBL). Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan quasi eksperimen dengan desain one group pretest-posttest yang melibatkan 351 siswa kelas XI sebagai populasi penelitian. Tujuah puluh satu siswa dari 2 kelas dipilih secara acak sebagai sampel. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan pretest dan posttest yang dikembangkan dari 3 aspek HOTS; analisis, evaluasi, dan sintesis. Untuk mengetahui keefektifan PB-CLM digunakan paired sample t-test dan independent sample t-test dengan taraf signifikansi 5% (α = 0,05). Hasil analisis menunjukkan aktivitas siswa selama pembelajaran dengan PB-CLM efektif dalam meningkatkan HOTS (mean difference = 30,141; sig.one-tailed = 0,000). Lebih lanjut, tidak ditemukan perbedaan yang signifikan antara HOTS siswa laki-laki dan perempuan, baik pada pretest maupun posttest (mean difference = 0,81731; sig.= 0,295). The purpose of this study was to investigate and analyze the responses of examinees in the examinations in the concept of trigonometry. While the study mainly used an ethnomethodological approach, a documentary analytical approach was also adopted. Documentary analysis was necessitated by the private nature of the NSC examination, as we only had access to the written work of the examinees. The major findings were: (1) that the strategies and tactics used by examinees are highly driven by the context of the high-stakes examination; (2) that examinees’ ways of working exhibit the general structure of the practice that is commonly found in mathematical discourse practices. Further studies are required to deepen the understanding of the thinking processes of examinees by conducting focus group interviews, where the examinees are afforded opportunities to explain their workings in school-based assessments.\u0000[Bahasa]: Di Afrika Selatan, ujian matematika National Senior Certificate (NSC) adalah ujian tambahan yang diambil pada akhir dari dua belas tahun sekolah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan investigasi dan analisis tanggapan siswa peserta ujian matematika NSC terkait konsep trigonometri. Selain pendekatan etnometodologi yang secara umum dipakai dalam penelitian ini, pendekatan analitis dokumenter yang juga diadopsi terkait karakteristik ujian NSC, dalam hal inipeneliti hanya memiliki akses pada jawaban tertulis peserta ujian. Temuan utama penelitian adalah: (1) bahwa strategi dan taktik yang digunakan oleh peserta ujian sangat didorong oleh konteks ujian berisiko tinggi; (2) bahwa cara kerja peserta ujian menunjukkan struktur umum praktik yang biasa ditemukan dalam praktis diskursus matematika. It consisted of three stages, namely the identification and analysis of traditional game, the design of learning activities based on Realistic Mathematics Education (RME), and the implementation in the classroom which involved twenty 7th-grade students. Data about the local game was collected through observations and interviews with five residents where the game is originated. Data on students’ strategic competence was achieved through a test given to the students after learning. The analysis of test results refers to the indicators of mathematical strategic competence. The present study found that fifteen students are able to achieve all indicators (formulating, representing, and solving the problems) with high scores. Meanwhile, five students could only represent the problems but have not fulfilled the last two indicators. The findings of this study indicate that learning mathematics based on traditional the das-dasan games has a potential to help students develop mathematical strategic competence. \u0000 \u0000 \u0000Keywords: Learning design, Ethnomathematics, Local game, Das-dasan, RME \u0000 \u0000[Bahasa]: Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang dan mengujicoba pembelajaran matematika berbasis permainan tradisional (das-dasan) sebagai upaya untuk mengembangkan kompetensi strategis matematis siswa. Penelitian ini terdiri dari tiga tahap, yaitu: identifikasi dan analisis permainan tradisional, perancangan pembelajaran berbasis permainan tradisional berdasarkan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME), dan implementasi dalam pembelajaran di kelas yang melibatkan 20 siswa kelas VII. Data terkait permainan tradisional dikumpulkan melalui pengamatan dan wawancara dengan lima warga tempat permainan tersebut berasal. Data kemampuan strategis matematis siswa diperoleh melalui tes yang diberikan setelah pembelajaran. Analisis hasil tes siswa merujuk pada indikator kompetensi strategis matematis siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 15 siswa berhasil memenuhi semua indikator kompetensi strategis matematis dengan kategori nilai akhir sangat baik. Sedangkan 5 siswa berhasil mencapai indikator pertama (merumuskan masalah) namun belum semua memenuhi indikator merepresentasikan dan menyelesaikan masalah. Covariational reasoning is one of the approaches to solve the problems of function. The study involved thirty grade 11 students. Data was collected through a covariation test and interview. The results of the test were grouped based on the criteria of mental action of covariational reasoning (Carlson et al., 2002), then the students who solve correctly two or three problems in the test were selected as the subjects. The interview data were analyzed to confirm and further dig students' structure of argumentation. The findings of this study indicate that only one student fulfils five mental actions of covariational reasoning; meanwhile, the other three students have similar components of argumentation which do not meet the mental actions. The claim and reasoning used by the latter students in covariational reasoning to construct graph are not identified in mental action 5 and the evidence is not found in mental action 3 (major coordination of change), mental action 4 (coordination the average rate of change), and mental action 5 (coordination of the instantaneous rate of change). \u0000Keywords: Argumentation, Claim, Evidence, Reasoning, Covariational reasoning \u0000[Bahasa]: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi klaim, bukti, dan alasan siswa pada penalaran kovariasional dalam mengonstruk grafik fungsi. Penalaran kovariasional merupakan salah satu pendekatan dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan fungsi. Penelitian ini melibatkan 30 siswa kelas 11. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan tes kovariasi dan wawancara. Data hasil hasil tes kovariasi siswa dikelompokkan berdasarkan kriteria aksi mental penalaran kovariasional (Carlson et al., 2002), kemudian dipilih siswa yang mampu menyelesaikan minimal dua soal kovariasi. Data hasil wawancara dianalisis untuk mengonfirmasi dan menggali lebih dalam argumentasi siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan hanya satu siswa yang memenuhi lima aksi mental penalaran kovariasional sedangkan ketiga siswa lain memiliki persamaan komponen argumentasi yang tidak memenuhi aksi mental. Students’ difficulties were identified from which the students did not develop connection ideas after reflection at the stages of Toshio’s (2000) cognition scheme. The purposive sampling was used to select 2 out of 85 11th-grade students who had taken the initial test in order to measure their connective thinking. Students’ works and the transcript of think-aloud and interviews with two students were analyzed using a qualitative descriptive approach. It reveals that students indicate various difficulties in developing connections. At the cognition stage, students had difficulty establishing a connection idea for solutions, since they were not able to collect appropriate data and did not verify the initial data to understand the direction of solving the problem. At the inference stage, students were difficult to establish a procedure connection because they could not plan an effective strategy of problem-solving. At the formulation stage, students had difficulty establishing numerical connections since they did not verify the data and did not have sufficient understanding of the concepts to formulate the problem. At the reconstruction stage, students found it difficult to establish generalization connections because of being not motivated to solve the problems and not doing a comprehensive generalization and evaluation towards the problem-solving. \u0000 \u0000 \u0000Keywords: Connective thinking, Mathematical connections, Reflection, Toshio thinking scheme \u0000[Bahasa]: Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi kesulitan siswa membangun koneksi matematis dalam berpikir konektif produktif untuk memecahkan masalah matematika. Kesulitan siswa membangun koneksi matematis diidentifikasi dari tidak berkembangnya ide-ide koneksi setelah refleksi pada setiap tahapan kognitif Toshio (2000). Tehnik purposive sampling digunakan untuk memilih 2 dari 85 orang siswa kelas 11 yang telah mengikuti tes awal untuk mengukur kemampuan berpikir konektif. Lembar kerja, rekaman think aloud dan wawancara dari dua orang siswa dianalisis dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil analisis menunjukkan siswa mengalami berbagai kesulitan membangun koneksi. Pada tahap kognisi, siswa mengalami kesulitan membangun koneksi ide solusi karena siswa tidak mampu mengumpulkan data yang sesuai dan tidak melakukan verifikasi terhadap data awal yang dikumpulkan untuk memahami dan memikirkan arah penyelesaian masalah.  Pada tahap inferensi, siswa mengalami kesulitan membangun koneksi prosedur karena siswa tidak menyusun rencana penyelesaian yang efektif. This study examined the self-regulated learning of prospective mathematics teachers (PMT) with different learning styles (visual, auditory, kinesthetic). It involved 66 PMTs who enrolled on a linear program course in the 4th semester. Data were collected through a questionnaire, a test, and a semi-structured interview. The test was used to select PMTs who have high mathematics ability as the subjects. They were provided with the questionnaire to examine their fulfilment of cognition, motivation, behaviour, and context in the four stages of self-regulated learning. The interview was administered to confirm and thoroughly explore subjects' responses in the questionnaire. The results of the questionnaire and interview were qualitatively analyzed. This study found that PMT with different learning styles fulfils four aspects of self-regulated learning in the stage of (1) planning, forethought, and activation, (2) monitoring, (3) control, and (4) reaction and reflection in different extent, preference, and strategies. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalis kemandirian belajar mahasiswa calon guru matematika yang memiliki gaya belajar berbeda (visual, audio dan kinestetik). Penelitian melibatkan 66 mahasiswa pendidikan matematika semester 4 yang sedang mengambil kuliah program linier. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tes kemampuan matematika, angket kemandirian belajar, dan wawancara semi struktur. Tes digunakan untuk memilih calon guru yang memiliki kemampuan matematika tinggi sebagai subjek. Subjek terpilih diberikan angket untuk mengetahui tingkat capaian kognisi, motivasi, perilaku dan konteks dalam empat tahap kemandirian belajar. Wawancara dilakukan untuk mengonfirmasi dan memperdalam pilihan subjek pada angket. Data hasil angket dan wawancara dianalisis secara kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa calon guru matematika dengan gaya belajar berbeda memenuhi empat aspek kemandirian belajar pada tahap (1) perencanaan, pemikiran, dan aktivasi, (2) pengawasan, (3) kontrol, dan (4) reaksi dan refleksi dalam tingkatan, pilihan, dan strategi yang berbeda. The study was a quasi-experimental with a non-equivalent control group post-test only design. Forty-two PMTs were involved and divided into experimental (taught using PbL combined with role-playing) and control groups (taught using PbL only). Data were collected using tests and video recordings. The test produces data on PMTs' problem-solving skills on linear algebra problems and video recordings resulted in the transcripts of PMTs’ discussion when they played a role. Data were analyzed through two stages. Firstly, the results of the test were analyzed quantitatively using F-test to measure the variance of the two groups, then measure the normality of the data using the interpretation of skewness and kurtosis, and finally, one-tail t-test to measure differences in test results between the two groups. Secondly, the sample of PMTs’ works in two groups and the transcripts of their conversation were qualitatively analyzed to strengthen the quantitative finding and reveal how PbL with role-playing support PMTs’ problem-solving in teacher education. This study shows that PbL with role-playing is more effective to improve students’ problem-solving skills than solely doing problem-based learning. Penelitian ini adalah eksperimen semu dengan desain post-test kelompok kontrol yang tidak setara. Empat puluh dua calon guru matematika terlibat dalam penelitian ini dan mereka dibagi menjadi kelompok eksperimen (diajarkan menggunakan pembelajaran berbasis masalah dengan bermain peran) dan kelompok kontrol (diajarkan menggunakan pembelajaran berbasis masalah saja). Data dikumpulkan menggunakan tes dan rekaman video. Tes menghasilkan data tentang kemampuan calon guru untuk memecahkan masalah aljabar linier dan rekaman video yang menghasilkan transkrip diskusi calon guru ketika mereka memainkan suatu peran. It involved 59 7th-grade students in Semarang city, Indonesia. Students’ gestures were identified through interviews and observations, then analyzed in three stages: data condensation, data display, and drawing and verifying conclusion. Time triangulation was utilized to assure data validity. The results showed that students employed: (1) direct gestures as a representation of coefficients and variables in the form of hand movements forming the shape of objects that they recognize in the everyday environment, (2) indirect gestures as a representation of coefficients and variables in the form of hand movements as if forming the shape of objects that they recognize in the daily environment then followed by consistent and repetitive hand movements as a representation of the coefficients, (3) direct gesture representing constants in the form of hand movements forming a specific number, and (4) writing gestures and pointing gestures to strengthen the explanation given. The present study concludes that the gestures made by the students in understanding the concepts of algebraic expression consist of representation, pointing, and writing. This study yields an important description of students' gestures and types of gestures about the algebraic concept, which provide a further understanding of the topic.  \u0000Keywords: Gesture, Conceptual understanding, Algebra \u0000[Bahasa]: Penelitian kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis gestur siswa dalam memahami bentuk aljabar. Penelitian melibatkan 59 siswa di salah satu SMP di Semarang. Data gestur siswa diidentifikasi melalui observasi dan wawancara kemudian dianalisis melalui tahapan kondensasi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan dan verifikasi simpulan. Verifikasi keabsahan data dilakukan menggunakan teknik triangulasi waktu. Hasil penelitian  menunjukkan bahwa siswa menggunakan (1) gestur langsung sebagai perwujudan pemahaman konsep koefisien dan variabel dalam bentuk gerakan tangan yang membentuk objek yang dikenali dalam lingkungan sehari-hari, (2) gestur tidak langsung sebagai representasi koefisien dan variabel dalam bentuk gerakan tangan seolah-olah membentuk objek yang dikenali dalam lingkungan sehari-hari kemudian diikuti oleh gerakan tangan yang konsisten dan berulang sebagai representasi koefisien, (3) gestur langsung yang menjadi representasi konstanta melalui gerakan tangan membentuk angka tertentu, dan (4) gestur menulis dan  menunjuk untuk memperkuat penjelasan yang diberikan. In constructing mathematics knowledge, students involve various types of thinking processes and styles. This qualitative research aimed to describe the process of students’ thinking in identifying concave plane based on Gregorc’s model of thinking style. It involved thirty-three 9th-grade students with a different style of thinking. Data were collected through tests, questionnaire, and non-structured interview then descriptively analyzed to reveal students’ thinking process and styles.  The present study found two different thinking styles, namely Sequential Concrete and Random Abstract from students who successfully identified the concave plane as a kite. There were different thinking processes in the development of definition, opinion, and conclusions from subjects with different thinking styles. However, the difference in the thinking process from each thinking styles do not hamper students’ success in constructing knowledge. \u0000Keywords: Thinking process, Concave place, Thinking style, Gregorc model \u0000[Bahasa]: Pembelajaran matematika seharusnya memfasilitasi siswa membangun pengetahuan sendiri. Subjek penelitian adalah 33 siswa kelas IX SMP yang memiliki gaya berpikir berbeda. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes, angket, dan wawancara non-terstruktur kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif untuk mengungkap gaya dan proses berpikir siswa. Penelitian ini menemukan dua gaya berpikir berbeda yaitu Sekuensial Konkret dan Acak Abstrak dari siswa yang berhasil mengidentifikasi bangun datar concave sebagai layang-layang. Terdapat perbedaan proses berpikir dalam pembentukan pengertian, pembentukan pendapat, dan penarikan kesimpulan dari siswa dengan gaya berpikir berbeda. Cultural products can be used as mathematical objects in learning. This article, part of a study that designed culture-based learning, aims to identify students' mathematics connection. Data was collected through a test given to 341 students and unstructured interviews of nine students selected based on the completion of the test, which fulfills mathematization steps. Data analysis began by classifying students’ answers based on mathematization, identifying mathematics connection of students according to mathematization, analyzing students’ mathematics connection, and drawing conclusions about mathematics connection and the constraints found. The results showed that students' mathematics connections include three categories, namely understanding connection, representation connection, and justification connection. Students with justification connection solved mathematical problems according to mathematization steps, from the identification of mathematical objects to formal mathematics. Meanwhile, students with understanding and representation connection solved their respective mathematical problems up to the concrete and formal stages. The findings reveal that culture-based mathematics learning provides space to understand students' mathematics connection. Further research is required to prove that it can be used to develop students' mathematics connection. \u0000Keywords: Mathematics learning, Culture, Mathematics connection \u0000[Bahasa]: Koneksi matematika mendukung siswa menemukan berbagai kemungkinan strategi dalam penyelesaian masalah. Produk budaya memungkinkan dapat dijadikan objek matematika dalam pembelajaran. Artikel ini merupakan bagian dari penelitian yang merancang desain pembelajaran berbasis budaya lokal yang bertujuan mengidentifikasi kemampuan koneksi matematika siswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes yang diberikan kepada 341 siswa dan wawancara tidak terstruktur terhadap 9 siswa yang dipilih berdasarkan penyelesaian tes sesuai proses matematisasi. Analisis data diawali dengan klasifikasi jawaban siswa berdasarkan tahapan matematisasi, identifikasi kemampuan koneksi matematika sesuai tahapan matematisasi, analisis kemampuan koneksi matematis, dan penarikan simpulan terkait kemampuan koneksi matematika serta kendala yang ditemukan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan koneksi matematika siswa meliputi tiga kategori yaitu koneksi pemahaman, koneksi representasi, dan koneksi justifikasi. Siswa dengan kemampuan koneksi justifikasi bisa menyelesaikan masalah matematika sesuai tahapan matematisasi, dari identifikasi objek matematika sampai matematika formal. Sementara itu, siswa yang memiliki kemampuan koneksi pemahaman dan representasi menyelesaikan masalah matematika masing-masing sampai pada tahap model kongkret dan model formal.
