Synthesis of data: This was an experience report from the development of a university extension project entitled “Learning Space - the medicinal clock of the human body” developed in the neighborhood of a municipality in the central region of Rio Grande do Sul state, Brazil. Community members, professionals from the fields of Nursing, Biology, Agronomy, and Landscaping, Nursing students, high school students and scholarship students from a higher education institution took part in the project. The activities were conducted from April to December 2017 and 2018. The clock was developed in a public territory of the community, consisting of 26 medicinal plants subdivided into 12 flowerbeds and central space, and cultivated two medicinal plants in each of them. Each of these divisions corresponds to the energetic peak of an organ of the human body, following a cycle, except the center, which is the epithelial tissue, which is an adaptation. Conclusion: The achievement of the project provided the opportunity to rescue and value the use of medicinal plants among teachers, students, and the community, contributing to shared care and promoting the health of all.","PeriodicalId":31750,"journal":{"name":"Revista Brasileira em Promocao da Saude","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47960723","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: This qualitative study was conducted in May 2018 with 15 psychologists working in the territory of the southern region of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Data were collected from four focus groups. Data underwent content analysis and three thematic categories emerged: Potentialities of the territory for health promotion actions; Challenges and limitations to develop health promotion actions in the territory; Health-promoting psychology in the territory. Results: The potentialities were the cultural diversity and the possibility of working through art. The challenges and limitations highlighted were networking and lack of support at work. There is a need for an extended and contextualized work and for constant training. Conclusion: Recognizing the potentiality in the territory involves broadening professionals’ horizons at work and creating spaces for subjective and collective production. It also involves recognizing the limitations of the place, which include difficulties in offering and articulating services and the neglect of basic rights within the community. Thus, focus should be placed on continuing training and on the legitimacy of the work in the context of primary care.","PeriodicalId":31750,"journal":{"name":"Revista Brasileira em Promocao da Saude","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48461030","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: This is a descriptive study that used quantitative methods through multiple regression with panel data. The sample consisted of 3.566 Brazilian municipalities and data were collected on the Public Health Budget Information System (Sistema de Informacoes sobre Orcamentos Publicos em Saude – SIOPS) of the Ministry of Health, on the website of Brazil Finances (Financas do Brasil – FINBRA) of the National Treasury Secretariat, on the repository of the Electoral Higher Court and on the censuses and estimates of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics during the period from 2005 to 2016. The electoral politics was analyzed in terms of: (i) electoral competition; (ii) party alignment between mayor, governor and president; and (iii) reelection. Results: The results show that the party alignment of the mayor with the governor influences positively (p=0.056), while that with the president influences negatively (p=0.00), the taxation in health care services, respectively. The mayor’s reelection mandate (p=0.00) and the electoral competition in the run for mayor do not influence taxation in health care services. With regard to geographical location, the Northern municipalities exhibit the lowest percentages of taxation in health care services followed – in an ascending order – by the South, Northeast, Midwest and Southeast regions. Conclusion: Party and political alignment and reelection influence municipal taxation in health care services in the analyzed sample while electoral competition has no effect.","PeriodicalId":31750,"journal":{"name":"Revista Brasileira em Promocao da Saude","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70660959","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
