Methods: This quantitative analytical cross-sectional study was conducted from November to December 2018 at a private institution in the state of Goias where 48 health professors answered a sociodemographic and occupational questionnaire, the workplace stress scale and a questionnaire on the use of psychotropic drugs. Data were analyzed using descriptive measures and the Chi-squared test. Results: High levels of occupational stress were found in 39.6% of the sample. Occupational stress was significantly associated with the following variables: current or previous use of psychotropic drugs (0.037), perception of quality of life improvement after drug therapy (p=0.041) and risky activities at work (p=0.036).
