These are essential components of the arid terrestrial vertebrate fauna found at low to high altitudes. Among the four species of the prominent genus Laudakia, species Laudakia tuberculata (Gray, 1827) dominates the Garhwal region of the Indian Himalayas. The current study documents the distribution, morphometric and meristic study of Laudakia tuberculata in the Garhwal region, ranging from 350 to 2200 m asl altitude. The species prefers mountainous habitats, such as holes, cliffs, and rocky structures with deep crevices near streams and rivers, old houses, stony walls, and highways. The male individuals are bigger in size and show magnificent blue shades during the breeding season, an abdominal and pre-anal callous patch of scale, indicating noticeable sexual dimorphism. The morphometric analysis revealed substantial (p<0.05) variations in body weight (Wt), snout-vent length (SVL), head length (HL), head width (HW), forelimb length (FLL), hindlimb length (HLL), and tail width (TW) except tail length (TL) and total body length (TBDL) between both sexes at different elevations. The subtropical population have significantly (p<0.05) larger TL and TBDL compared to temperate populations indicating altitude governing the morphology of Laudakia tuberculata.","PeriodicalId":31687,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mountain Area Research","volume":"81 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88684931","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present study was conducted in the Rajparian Wildlife Sanctuary to assess the diversity, status and seasonal variation of avifauna. Weekly surveys were conducted from July 2019 to December 2021, following the line transect method. 102 bird species were recorded during the study period, categorized under 12 orders and 37 families, including 60 resident species, 24 summer migrants, 3 winter visitors, 8 passage migrants and 7 local altitudinal migrants. Among the dominant families, the Muscicapidae accounted for 17 species with a 15.7 relative diversity index value. Renyi diversity profile and rarefaction analysis revealed that of all the studied seasons, the summer season has the highest diversity and richness. Considerable variation in Sorensen dissimilarity between different seasonal pairs was observed, with the lowest dissimilarity found between summer and autumn (βSOR = 0.07) and the highest between autumn and winter (βSOR = 0.21). The current study will serve as a baseline for future avian research as well as for management implications in the sanctuary.","PeriodicalId":31687,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mountain Area Research","volume":"3 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78782264","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During the past several decades, many childless couples have travelled to India in search of surrogacy. In India, the legal status of surrogacy is unmistakable. Gestational surrogacy is legal in India. One of the few nations where commercial surrogacy is still legal in India. However, there is no legal prohibition against commercial surrogacy in India. This suggests that although commercial surrogacy is not illegal in India, neither is there specific legislation regulating it. Even while women have benefited from increased access to educational and employment opportunities as a result of globalisation, the gap between the gender has only widened on a global and local scale. Consequently, gender contradictions are not unique to the surrogacy industry but characterise women's outsourced work everywhere.","PeriodicalId":31687,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mountain Area Research","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89321144","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Study of systematics includes classification, taxonomy and nomenclature. The Pancheshwar hydropower dam is being built on the Mahakali River at Pancheshwar near the confluence of the Mahakali and the Saryu River, which was the sampling site. To determine the diversity, soil nature, and established relationships between them were the main objectives. The classification and identification of the flora were done by the available literature while soil samples were analyzed in the District Agriculture Department Soil Testing Laboratory and statistical analysis by different softwares. At the species diversity point, there were seven families, 11 genera, and 19 species of pteridophytes recorded in the study area. The frequency, density, abundance, and distribution of each species were calculated, revealing significant variation. Various diversity indexes like dominance (D), Simpson index (1-D), Shannon index (H), evenness (e^H/S), and Margalef species richness were calculated, all of these indicated good diversity in the area. The physical properties of soil (water holding capacity, sand, slit, and clay) and chemical properties (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, organic carbon content, and pH) when statistically analysed for regression, correlation and ANOVA, showed that these factors were suitable for growth of plants.","PeriodicalId":31687,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mountain Area Research","volume":"54 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89115766","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the phenolic exudation explants did not survive and eventually died without regenerating buds. The explants collected from July to September were the best for in vitro studies for icropropagation. The axillary buds were surface sterilized with 0.1% Mercuric chloride solution for 10-15 minutes, followed by 0.1% Bavistin treatment for 1 minute and subsequently washed 3-4 times with sterilized distilled water. These surface sterilized axillary buds were cultured on MS medium supplemented with cytokinin and auxin. MS medium supplemented with 1.5mg/l BAP + 0.1mg/l NAA proved to be the best hormonal combination for induction of axillary bud which resulted in the development of 1-3 axillary shoots. The proliferated shoots were cultured on MS medium with different concentration of BAP (0.1 – 3.0 mg/l) alone or in combination with NAA (0.1-1.5mg/l) and supplemented with sucrose at 3%. The aim of the paper was to obtain maximum rate of in vitro regeneration of FRI-15 by using micropropagation technique.","PeriodicalId":31687,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mountain Area Research","volume":"61 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77673806","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper the electric quadrupole moment for 6Li nucleus in the ground state is calculated from the hyperfine structure of atomic spectra. Initially a cluster model wavefunction is constructed in shell model using Resonating Group Method (RGM), Generate coordinate method (GCM) and Complex Generator Coordinate Technique (CGCT). CGCT transforms the cluster model wavefunction into antisymmetrized product of single particle wavefunction. The wavefunction is written with the total angular momentum, relative motion between alpha and deuteron clusters, definite parity and spin. The calculations have been made by taking Wood- Saxon potential. The results obtained are compared and found reasonably well in agreement with the experimental results.","PeriodicalId":31687,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mountain Area Research","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91093843","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
