Utilizing Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy, concentrations of HMs in diverse cosmetic products were determined, with results from samples of both user and controlled groups analyzed and compared. The range of HM concentrations in blood samples was assessed, revealing varied levels across Cadmium (Cd), Mercury (Hg), Lead (Pb), Arsenic (As). Results revealed a wide range of HM concentrations, including Cd (0.4-5.1 µg/l in males, 1.8-8.1µg/l in females), Hg (60.7-85.5 µg/l in males, 78.5-99.3 µg/l in females), Pb (48.7-99.5 µg/l in males, 83.3-99.5 µg/l in females), and As. Some samples exceeded safety limits, emphasizing the need for stringent regulation and improved manufacturing practices to ensure safer cosmetic products and protect consumer health. The incorporation of survey methodologies enhances the study's depth, providing comprehensive insights into the potential health risks associated with HM exposure from cosmetic use.","PeriodicalId":31687,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mountain Area Research","volume":"54 46","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141649709","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These rocks have comparatively low uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) values, and hence recognized as ‘soft sedimentary rocks’ in this study. UCS is a fundamental property of rocks, used by mine design engineers in designing the surface and underground excavations. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between UCS with Brazilian tensile strength (BTS), and index properties of soft sedimentary rock formations at Thar Lignite basin. Various correlations between mechanical and physical properties of rocks have been developed previously. However, no significant correlation has been developed on UCS with BTS and index properties for soft sedimentary rocks. Numerous Rock samples from Two complete geotechnical drillholes at Block-IX Thar Coalfield were selected. Standard test procedures were implemented to determine the UCS, indirect Tensile and index properties such as point load strength, and shore Scleroscope hardness. The correlations between rock properties were established using simple and multiple regression techniques, and empirical equations were obtained. These equations can be used to predict the UCS and tensile strength of soft sedimentary rocks by performing simple index tests; which are quick, economical, and easier to be performed on the site.","PeriodicalId":31687,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mountain Area Research","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48547362","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the help of similarity variables, the governing partial differential equations (PDEs) are transformed into ordinary differential equations (ODEs). The BVP4C technique in Matlab function has been used to simplify the governing ODEs. The numerical outcomes for temperature and velocity profiles, coefficient of skin friction and Nusselt Number have been achieved and matched with the findings in literature. The findings are compared to previously reported results. In addition, the impacts of numerous related parameters on the profiles of velocity and temperature are shown, and the results of every related parameter are presented using graphs. The velocity profile decreases as the magnetic force, suction, and permeability parameters rise.","PeriodicalId":31687,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mountain Area Research","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45758968","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of 12 adult male albino mice were taken. Four groups each containing three mice were made. First group of mice served as control and other three groups were treated as experimental. The control mice were fed with normal diet, while experimental mice were administered with 10, 30 and 50 mg/kg body weight seed powder respectively for 30 days. After 30 days of experimentation all control and treated mice were dissected. The testis and epididymis were removed, their weights were recorded, fixed and processed for further histological technique. Administration of the S. trifoliatus to mice showed a significant increase in body weight, but testicular weight were unaffected. The present study also clearly demonstrates that the administration of seed powder of S. trifoliatus at all the tested doses caused insignificant reduction of the reproductive organs weight, testicular damage and complete arrest of spermatogenesis. At lower doses, a few layers of spermatogenic cells were noted but at later stage the spermatogenesis was stopped. At the highest dose i.e. 50 mg complete arrest of spermatogenesis and degeneration of remaining germinal cells could be seen. The atrophy of Leydig’s cells was also noted at higher doses of treatment up to 60 days. The epididymis also showed degenerative changes in the epithelial cells at higher doses. Spermatozoa were not seen in the lumen of ductules of epididymis.","PeriodicalId":31687,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mountain Area Research","volume":"8 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83600559","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
