The greatest responsibility for the quality of financial statements lies with the company's management and the persons in charge of compiling them. Presenting business results better than they are, the so-called make-up, by owners and managers, has led to many frauds and manipulations in the business of the company which found their expression in false financial reports. The loss of user confidence in the information presented in the financial statements has unforeseeable consequences for financial markets and the economy as a whole. A large number of examples of fraud and manipulation in financial statements indicate the importance of recognizing them and distinguishing them from technical and unintentional errors. In this paper, we strive to present the motives and goals of fraud and manipulation in financial statements, responsibility for the occurrence and shortcomings that led to embezzlement and abuse, and identify opportunities for their prevention and relativization.","PeriodicalId":31648,"journal":{"name":"Ekonomski Signali","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71213585","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nihilism in the economic, political, and legal spheres of society allowed the transfer of lucrative raw material industries into the hands of the oligarchs. Unprofitable industries fell into decline, which caused structural distortions in the economy. Thousands of cities and towns have disappeared, causing suffering for the people. In the 2000s, there was the centralization of power and rejection of reforms, the oligarchy merged with the state into financial and industrial groups. The consequence was the emergence of a parasitic form of criminal oligarchic capitalism, motivated to export capital from Russia. At the same time, in Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Poland, Czechoslovakia and the Baltic states, reforms and privatization followed a different path. Oligarchization stopped the economic development of Russia and intensified the negative consequences. It changes the appearance of the world, and also the way we look at the world. In this context, the Republic of Srpska is pursuing an economic transition to enable the establishment of a marketorganized economy. Privatization of state capital in companies is an indispensable precondition for the implementation of this goal. This would enable the establishment of a market economy and an open and liquid capital market. To achieve this, the key task is to establish an efficient financial system that is the most important part of the overall economic system. This imposes the need for the presence of well-trained financial institutions to operate in the newly emerging market conditions. Therefore, in the Republic of Srpska, attention is paid to the transformation of already existing financial institutions and the formation and transformation of new ones, such as investment funds. The formation and transformation of investment funds is of great importance in supporting the market economy. Consequently, the research in this article is focused on the chronological presentation of the transformation of investment funds in the Republic of Srpska and their operations in order to see to what extent they have influenced or not the development of corporate management and capital markets.","PeriodicalId":31648,"journal":{"name":"Ekonomski Signali","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71213741","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
