The study community included public and private academic libraries in the Sultanate of Oman. Sixteen academic libraries (public and private) were sampled with (25%) of the total of 63 libraries.The study reached a number of conclusions, the most important of which were: The various types of integrated library systems used to manage the operations in academic libraries in the Sultanate; between global commercial systems, internal local system, local commercial system and open-source global systems. The study also showed a low level of awareness of the importance of using open-source integrated library systems in Omani academic libraries; at the level of decision makers and some of the workers in the non-applied libraries, while the level of awareness of the individuals working in which the libraries applying the system varied. Moreover, the level of acceptance by decision makers and information specialists for the establishment and use of open-source integrated library systems in Omani academic libraries also varied which was based on the organization's policy towards open-source systems adoption and the extent libraries that are applying the system are reliant on basic system operations.The study showed a range of motivations behind the shift towards open-source integrated library systems; represented: Financial factors, user-friendly, non-monopolized, integrated systems that allow for modification and development, as well as they are sustainable and compatible with recent library trends. The study also revealed that there are a number of challenges impeding the use of open-source integrated library systems in Omani academic libraries: technical challenges, security challenges, human challenges, and administrative challenges.The study made a number of recommendations, including: Activating outreach roles to raise awareness to the importance of shifting towards integrated open-source library systems for decision makers and libraries through holding seminars, conferences and more workshops on these systems with the need to present the successful experiences of the applied libraries. Besides, establishing a group of library technicians (","PeriodicalId":302120,"journal":{"name":"2021 22nd International Arab Conference on Information Technology (ACIT)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120954032","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The emergence of the Coronavirus pandemic is not the reason for the extensive use of e-learning; it was a reason for accelerating the transition to use e-learning in Jordanian universities and the world in general. The transition from face-to-face education to e-learning overnight created a gap in the education processes. The quick transition to e-learning was not systematic nor governed by rules that facilitate the transition process. In addition, there was no complete readiness at the level of infrastructure or training of teachers or students to utilise e-learning and achieve the best measurable educational results. This research aims to present a hybrid educational model that combines face-to-face classical education with e-learning methods (synchronous and asynchronous learning) to take advantage of each method and neutralise the negatives. The ultimate objective of this research is to create a universal model that is flexible enough to be applied in universities to help a smooth transition to the use of e-learning education. The researchers applied this model to a sample of students at Zarqa University for four months, and promising results were obtained.","PeriodicalId":302120,"journal":{"name":"2021 22nd International Arab Conference on Information Technology (ACIT)","volume":"23 7","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120991687","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Some combinational problems can be modelled using binary matrices, we can verify whether these matrices hold the consecutive ones property, which implies existence of permutation of the columns of the matrix such that all non zoro elements can be placed as a block in every row.In this study, we propose a heuristic based on a reduction and approximation of the CBM to a particular version and instances, we propose two results, one called negative result, the other positive result.","PeriodicalId":302120,"journal":{"name":"2021 22nd International Arab Conference on Information Technology (ACIT)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133808631","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Textual documents are the basic unit of communication in written/typed form, in a lot of practical settings in a human work environment. Humans are very good at understanding the purpose of the document and comprehension of the semantics from the document. Document clustering is a specialized clustering in which documents written in human language are automatically partitioned into groups(clusters) of distinguishable sub collection. Document clustering process is very sensitive to document representation. This paper investigates the document representation models for succinctly representing document level semantics and employs a topic aware document representation approach. It suggests several desirable features for effective document representation (i) it should capture word-to-word relationship, (ii) it should derive from the basic words and their relation to form topic-units (a larger composition of words) and (iii) feature –weighting scheme based on frequent topic-units and document correlation. The task of document clustering is used to evaluate representation schemes. Standard text mining datasets are used and clustering is evaluated on internal and external clustering evaluation measures.","PeriodicalId":302120,"journal":{"name":"2021 22nd International Arab Conference on Information Technology (ACIT)","volume":"121 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132756055","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Expert systems are intended to convey the understanding and information found in the experts in a specific field and take choices dependent on the gathered learning of the learning base alongside an arrangement of standards and principles of an inference engine and in the meantime, justify those decisions with the help of explanation facility. The derivation motor is constantly refreshed as new ends are drawn from each new sureness in the learning base which triggers additional rules, heuristics and standards in the inference engine. This paper clarifies the essential engineering of Expert System; it’s the first since forever achievement DENDRAL which turned into a stepping stone in the Artificial Intelligence field. The expert system represents knowledge acquired from human masters as information or standards inside the PC. These rules and data can be called upon to solve complex problems. This paper gives a review of the Expert system to be specific Dendral that is utilized in Chemical sciences from its invention. Hence, many enterprises focus a lot on the supply chain due to its significant role in local and international markets. Integrative and collaborative supply chains across the globe are ideal technique where all participant firms collaboratively seek for success and maximizing their gains. However, there are some factors and risks, which hamper the move toward that direction. Therefore, the need to have an intelligent solution is essential and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is promising for that. AI tools help in detecting and identifying abnormal and strange behaviors in any business processes or activities within few seconds with minimal human intervention. As per now, the adoption of AI in supply chain is quite slow. However, for those who utilized it, received immediate outcomes in terms of cost reduction and increase in revenues. This paper discusses the potentials and implications of applying AI in the supply chain processes, the risks associated with it, and the safeguard requirements needed based on NIST SP 800-161; to ensure the continuity of businesses with minimal loses.","PeriodicalId":302120,"journal":{"name":"2021 22nd International Arab Conference on Information Technology (ACIT)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115401704","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Users of social media platforms generate a vast amount of content that can be used by the end user to analyze, measure, monitor, and interpret people's thoughts, beliefs, opinions, feelings, and even relationships. Given the huge impact of social media on business performance, companies are creating their own platforms to have more channels through which they can gain insights into customers' views on products and services. Social media is also becoming an important channel in restaurateurs' communication with current and potential customers. A customer can leave a comment to share their satisfaction or dissatisfaction and rate the overall experience with the product or service received. In this study, Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) modeling algorithm was used to extract the main themes in the customer feedbacks. The extracted themes revealed that food quality, service quality, speed and completeness of order are the major themes raised by the customers. Analyzing the e-WOM of the customers enables the management to gain insights into the business process, product and service. Such analysis can help provide better personalized service to improve business performance.
