Since the number of researchers, universities and scientific institutes are increasing, the number of submitted papers to scientific journals increased substantially. Consequently, the time needed to process the submitted papers is increased as well. This results in delaying publishing high quality papers. This paper proposes an approach to predict the future citations of submitted research papers using machine learning algorithms to speed up the processing time of the predicted high quality submitted papers. A dataset solicited from the International Arab Journal of Information Technology (IAJIT) is used in our experiments. The dataset covers the last ten years. Sixteen machine learning algorithms are trained on the dataset. Two sets of results are produced. The first one is related to the relative importance of features used in the prediction process. The second set shows the results of the sixteen machine learning algorithms used to predict future citations of submitted papers. The experimental results show that the number of references is the most important feature while the number of authors shown on papers is the least important feature. In addition, the results produced by neural network and voting classifier 1 techniques are slightly better than other techniques in predicting future citations. Naïve base comes next. The rest of the used machine learning methods show similar performance.","PeriodicalId":302120,"journal":{"name":"2021 22nd International Arab Conference on Information Technology (ACIT)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125346165","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the advance progresses in IoT technology, the provision of a platform that allows the users of IoT to communicate and interact directly with their connected devices and manage and control them easily and smoothly through that platform from anywhere at any time becomes a necessity. This will protect the users’ privacy when they use their IoT devices. This paper aims to develop a website application that addresses these challenges and provides real-time data management. As a result, we designed a user-interface prototype, which demonstrates the idea of IoT website manager and provides a trial version of the implementation. Since the suggested platform is aimed to improve the user’s insight about the IoT devices, the proposed prototype creates a platform that enables the user to control different types of IoT devices remotely. Also, the website prototype indicates that it is a user-friendly platform, can be used effortlessly, and does not need any technical experience. Users can access and collect information concerning their connected IoT devices and monitor, manage and control them.","PeriodicalId":302120,"journal":{"name":"2021 22nd International Arab Conference on Information Technology (ACIT)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116381146","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The motives behind such attacks range from criminal enterprises to military, economic, espionage, political, and terrorism-related activities. Many governments are more concerned than ever with securing their critical infrastructure. One of the effective means of detecting threats and securing their infrastructure is the use of Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS). A number of studies have been conducted and proposed to assess the efficacy and effectiveness of IDS through the use of self-learning techniques, especially in the Industrial Control Systems (ICS) era. This paper investigates and analyzes the utilization of IDS systems and their proposed solutions used to enhance the effectiveness of such systems for CPS. The targeted data extraction was from 2011 to 2021 from five selected sources: IEEE, ACM, Springer, Wiley, and ScienceDirect. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 20 primary studies were selected from a total of 51 studies in the field of threat detection in CPS, ICS, SCADA systems, and the IoT. The outcome revealed the trends in recent research in this area and identified essential techniques to improve detection performance, accuracy, reliability, and robustness. In addition, this study also identified the most vulnerable target layer for cyber-attacks in CPS. Various challenges, opportunities, and solutions were identified. The findings can help scholars in the field learn about how machine learning (ML) methods are used in intrusion detection systems. In this paper, we examined the classification improvement of two strategies in images data set with small samples: the first approach is data augmentation using the Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs). (GANs) are a mechanism for the production of artificial data with a distribution close to the distribution of real data. The second approach by using transfer learning methods to overcome the problem of small number of training data. In this study the techniques of transfer learning were preferred over other machine-learning algorithms because of the excellent classification accuracy of pre-trained models, which saves time by avoiding training problems and scratch checks of model weights. We have used different Measures to evaluate the different classifiers on medical images dataset using Classification Based GAN Augmentation (CBGA), and three transfer learning method (TL-VGG), Inception (TL-INC) and Resnet 50 (TL-RE). Through experimenting the two strategies on a different datasets, we observed that using the transfer learning approach is significantly better than using classification-based- on data augmentation on the same dataset. This approach saves not only considerable time, but also competitive performance accuracy.","PeriodicalId":302120,"journal":{"name":"2021 22nd International Arab Conference on Information Technology (ACIT)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123698315","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While eCommerce websites are transactional by default, the strategy should be to develop a portfolio of loyal customers. This has given rise to a research focus on the development and maintenance of relationships in online shopping. However, understanding factors that influence relationships in a virtual context is no trivial task. Drawing on the relationship-building literature, the dyadic nature of the interaction in establishing the relationship is applied to the online environment. This study posits self-disclosure and privacy as independent variables for managing online relationships. It was observed that information is mutually exchanged in the process of building relationships between both parties and that by controlling the flow of information, websites managed to maintain relationships with different visitors and at different levels. When the information shared was acted upon, the relationship advanced and trust was formed. Drawing on our observations, we offer a framework with propositions to confirm the causal pathways of factors within the relationship development process. The framework is important to B2C managers, who frequently struggle to build and maintain a close meaningful relationship with their customers.
