Abstract

Every life aspect of social, environmental, and economical has been changed dramatically due to digitalization era. Hence, many enterprises focus a lot on the supply chain due to its significant role in local and international markets. Integrative and collaborative supply chains across the globe are ideal technique where all participant firms collaboratively seek for success and maximizing their gains. However, there are some factors and risks, which hamper the move toward that direction. Therefore, the need to have an intelligent solution is essential and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is promising for that. AI tools help in detecting and identifying abnormal and strange behaviors in any business processes or activities within few seconds with minimal human intervention. As per now, the adoption of AI in supply chain is quite slow. However, for those who utilized it, received immediate outcomes in terms of cost reduction and increase in revenues. This paper discusses the potentials and implications of applying AI in the supply chain processes, the risks associated with it, and the safeguard requirements needed based on NIST SP 800-161; to ensure the continuity of businesses with minimal loses.
