The eigenenergies are calculated analytically by solving one-dimensional (1D) time independent Schrodinger equation in the channel at equilibrium i.e. when no gate voltage is applied. The channel thickness variation implies an independent effect of different barrier width and well widths for the DTQW system. Three-level converter with two clamped diodes and one flying capacitor is adopted to reduce the voltage stress of power semiconductors for medium voltage application and achieve ZVS operation for power MOSFETs. In order to reduce the size of the magnetic core and copper windings and to decrease the current rating of the rectifier diodes, three circuit cells are adopted in the proposed converter for high current applications. In each circuit cell, two transformers with a series connection are used in order to balance the output currents. To overcome the drawback of a wide range of switching frequencies in conventional series resonant converters, the duty cycle PWM control is adopted in the proposed circuit to achieve ZVS turn-on for power MOSFETs and zero current switching (ZCS) turn-off for rectifier diodes. An external uniform magnetic field is applied transversely to the wire to produce high gradient magnetic field which produce magnetic force acting on the carriers in the vicinity of wire surface. The study of gold drug carriers' motion in capillary beds under the influences of magnetic force and blood flow is simplified by neglecting the effect of capillaries' walls. Equations of motion of the carriers are formulated and are solved numerically to obtain carriers' trajectories. By analyzing carriers' trajectories, the feasibility of capturing gold drug carriers near wire surface can be examined and the capture efficacy can be estimated for various parameters suchas the strength of applied uniform magnetic field, the radius of gold drug carrier and the radius of the wire. The results show the feasibility of targeting gold drug carriers in capillary beds by using the implant. Our group have developed an olfactory display using electroosmotic (EO) pumps and a surface acoustic device (SAW) device. In this study, the improved olfactory display is described. The number of odor components was increased from 6 in the previous work to 8 whereas the size was further miniaturized so that it can be equipped on a headset. A visual-olfactory display system was also developed using the proposed olfactory display. The system can release scents in accordance with contents in the movie on Windows Media Player platform run on a PC. It is based on 3 components which are a CMOS digital camera, a card type computer board and a WiFi module. An image of the room is taken once every minute and transformed to a two level black and white version from which a simple lamp detection is operated. Since the camera location is fixed, an initialization step can be implemented to reduce the candidate regions and avoid confusion due to reflection or window light. Together with the known lamp type, the energy consumption of each lamp as well as their total sum can be plot almost near real time through internet. Conventional ECG systems are not suitable for continuous, long-term monitoring. Contactless measurement of ECG using capacitive sensors is emerging as an attractive alternative. One of the disadvantages of a contactless system is that the signal quality is poor as far as the clinical acceptance of the system is concerned. The contactless ECG signal typically contains a relatively large amount of dc, due to electrode offset or artifacts, which would drive the front end of the high-gain amplifier into saturation. Hence, what is required is a circuit that would effectively block dc while coupling the differential ac signal. A circuit developed for conventional ECG systems has been made use of, for this purpose. This paper describes the simulation and analysis of a contactless ECG monitoring system, using capacitive electrodes, with an ac-coupled front end for effective dc decoupling. The approach to allocate resources to maximize total network throughput favours sources with good channel condition. On the other hand, max-min fair technique suffers from the loss of efficiency to a larger extent. Looking at futuristic wireless applications, the demand of users vary on wider spectrum. Allocation of a fixed amount of resources cannot satisfy such requirements. In this context, satisfaction of the user is more important criteria compared to common achievable targeted data rate. The user satisfaction is represented in term of utility based on some network performance criteria. This paper presents the concept of utility based resource allocation. The utility is defined as a function of data rate achieved by the user in the cooperative mode. Extensive simulation is carried out considering different utility functions that resemble the satisfaction of the user for variable data rate applications. The results show with the proposed utility based allocation significant fairness can be achieved with vary nominal decrease in efficiency. The paper explains basic concepts about the ANN, as well as the MFCC and other relevant theories. Regarding the design of the ANN, it uses multiple infant crying sounds, as well as non-crying sounds, to create a sample training set with a corresponding target that determines whether the sound is a cry or not. Human's hand movement usually occur in three dimension space with high speed and small impendence from hand's mass which is not capable with conventional serial robot that have slow speed and heavy moving part. As a result, parallel delta robot with properties of high speed and light moving part is chosen to suit human's hand behavioral. Micro-macro bilateral or scaling bilateral robot is a robot that scale the position or force from master robot to smaller slave robot. Convectional micro-macro in joint space or motor space bilateral system is not enough to control the task space of the delta robot due to non-linearity of delta robot kinematic. As a result, a micro-macro task space for delta robot in xyz plane by transform joint space into task space using inverse and forward kinematic of delta robot is proposed. Delta robot have rigid body properties which is necessary for detail work and can be considered appropriate micro-macro bilateral manipulator. However, direct kinematics of delta robot have around 40 solutions due to the complexity of pair of spherical joint that may present difficulty in design and manufacturing. Disturbance force is estimated by disturbance observer and scaled by conventional micro-macro method. In this paper, a new quasidifferential buffer is proposed to be robust with respect to display noise and highly area efficient. The measurement results show that the signal-to-noise ratio is 29.8 dB when evaluated with a 3.7-inch add-on touch screen panel and LCD display. The proposed circuit, fabricated via TSMC 0.18 um 1P6M CMOS process technology with embedded flash memory and total chip areas, is 2.8 mm × 3.2 mm, including digital block.
