Significant number of software architectures have been developed to improve the throughput while reduce the latency but maintaining of the both aspects reaches the limits of the software platforms. This paper proposes a novel custom hardware accelerator architecture framework for CEP in big data domain. The proposed design improves the throughput performance more than 10 times over the software counterpart while keeping the latency value at less than 100 nano seconds. Same Structured Query Language(SQL) type queries used in reference software architecture were used to improve the flexibility. A query compiler based on the same query language grammar was designed to convert the queries in to Hardware Description Language(HDL) modules. All modules were parameterized to improve the scalability of the design. Those generated modules were synthesized through vendor tools and programmed in to Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA) platform in order to implement the system. Proposed hardware architecture framework was verified using a sensor network data set of a football field and the results were compared with software counterpart to show the performance improvement.","PeriodicalId":292057,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2014 - 2014 IEEE Region 10 Conference","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116656057","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The triplen harmonics due to non-linear loads circulate in the conventional delta-star distribution transformer resulting in excessive power losses. Star-star-delta_utilized transformer is a modified distribution transformer configuration suggested recently which helps in recovering and utilizing the power wasted due to circulating harmonics in the transformer delta winding. This is achieved by connecting a load across the zero potential terminals of the tertiary delta winding of the transformer. This paper presents a three phase equivalent circuit model for the star-star-delta_utilized transformer. The proposed dependent source model is simulated and compared with the performance of the available transformer model of MATLAB Simulink. The results show that at steady state the performance of the proposed model can replicate the performance of the Simulink model.","PeriodicalId":292057,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2014 - 2014 IEEE Region 10 Conference","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121334830","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Artificial neural network (ANN) based modified control strategy is being used to control the DC capacitor voltage as well as to generate reference source current. The application of ANN enhances the convergence rate of APF and also makes it adaptive under variable load conditions. The instantaneous phase of the source voltage is extracted by a phase locked loop (PLL). The same phase is used by ANN for calculating the reference source current. That is why the proposed APF is applicable under both nominal and distorted voltage source. The complete non-linear system is analyzed and simulated using MATLAB/Simulink software. Simulation results are presented to validate the theory.","PeriodicalId":292057,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2014 - 2014 IEEE Region 10 Conference","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127221185","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is implemented using a microcontroller as the core that enables the mobots to work cooperatively. The mobots are free to move within their designated areas and are capable of relaying messages via ZigBee communication to a base controller system. The purpose of this system is to have an alternative or even a complement to regular CCTV surveillance, especially in buildings with several rooms. This would enhance the security as the system utilizes a database to store the information gathered from intruder alerts. Furthermore, the communication radios used transmit with low power over a long range. The mobots are enabled to relay data via mobot-to-PC and mobot-to-mobot paths up to five hops. The data transmitted allows the base controller system to identify its source for intrusion detection.","PeriodicalId":292057,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2014 - 2014 IEEE Region 10 Conference","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115517540","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To verify the operation of the designed processor, a functional level simulation was conducted with the Modelsim SE 10.0b simulator. We synthesized on Virtex-7 FPGA as the target with the Xilinx ISE 14.7 tool and the results analyzed. The performance of the designed processor was 150M Triangles/Sec, 4.8 GFLOPS at 100 MHz. This paper presents a method for reducing the computational complexity with the aid of parity information sent through one of the transmitted symbols. The method utilizes QR decomposition of the channel matrix as in conventional QRD-M, but, instead of retaining M candidate symbols at each level of tree decomposition, only one candidate is kept, which reduces the computational complexity. The probability of error in the selection of the candidate to be retained at each level is kept to a minimum with the aid of parity information. Simulation results show that compared to QRD-M of same performance, the computational complexity is reduced by 74%. In terms of BER, an improvement of 3dB is achieved even at low SNR levels. Compared to coded systems also, an improvement in BER is achieved, with much less decoding complexity.","PeriodicalId":292057,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2014 - 2014 IEEE Region 10 Conference","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128342924","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, this research does not consider changes of content ranking and content popularities that change during time. Hence, contents in femto-cells should be updated with limited number of updated contents. There is a popularity-based updating method that replaces low popularity contents by high popularity contents but its performance is not good in case of high limited threshold. This problem occurs because diversity of contents in distributed caches is decreased. Hence, we propose a new method in this paper called rank-based updating method that attempts to cache diverse contents in distributed caches. It updates contents in femto-cells by considering ranking number of each content in ranking with the same ranking number of each content in femto-cells. A complexity of the proposed method is lower than the algorithm of FemtoCaching and slightly more than the popularity-based updating method. Performance of the proposed method is evaluated by simulation. Experimental results show that the performances of the proposed method are almost the same as the limited FemtoCaching method and better than the popularity-based updating method in case of high limited threshold.","PeriodicalId":292057,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2014 - 2014 IEEE Region 10 Conference","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130297235","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The quasi static testing (QST) on 40 HGA samples suggests the machine as a more aggressive ESD source than human. The average failure ESD voltage measured by the machine model (MM) is 0.78 V, lower than 1.94 V obtained by the human body model (HBM). This may well be understood by the higher failure current and higher energy drop in the TMR observed from the MM. The ESD equivalent circuits are then adjusted and modeled to generate the overdamped current profiles with similar peak currents to those obtained from the QST. The ESD simulation is further extended to the HGA level. It is found that the peak ESD currents are smaller than those in the TMR level. By a linear curve extrapolation, the predicted maximum ESD failure voltages are 0.95 V and 4.15 V for MM and HBM, respectively.","PeriodicalId":292057,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2014 - 2014 IEEE Region 10 Conference","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130368660","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
