The realization method is achieved by squaring the long tail current (IB) of the differential pair and improved the linear input range by source degeneration technique. The OTA transconductance gain can be linearly tuned from 10nA to 1mA and the linear input-voltage range of about 1Vp with less than 3% nonlinearity is obtained. The performance of the circuit is discussed and confirmed through PSPICE-simulation results in TSMC 0.35 μm CMOS technology with power supply of ±1.5 V.","PeriodicalId":292057,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2014 - 2014 IEEE Region 10 Conference","volume":"238 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114637825","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To ensure that the organization network is well prevented from attackers, vulnerability assessment and penetration testing are implemented regularly. However, it is a highly time-consuming procedure to audit and analysis these testing results depending on administrator's expertise. Thus, security professionals prefer proactive-automatic vulnerability detection tools to identify vulnerabilities before they are exploited by an adversary. Although these vulnerability detection tools show that they are very useful for security professionals to audit and analysis much faster and more accurate, they have some important weaknesses as well. They only identify surface vulnerabilities and are unable to address the overall risk level of the scanned network. Also, they often use different standard for network risk level classification which habitually related to some organizations or vendors. Thus, these vulnerability detection tools are likely to, more or less, classify risk evaluation biasedly. This article presents a generic idea of “Network Risk Metric” as an unbiased risk evaluation from several vulnerability detection tools. In this paper, NetClarity (hardware-based), Nessus (software-based), and Retina (software-based) are implemented on two networks from an IT department of the Royal Thai Army (RTA). The proposed metric is applied for evaluating overall network risk from these three vulnerability detection tools. The result is a more accurate risk evaluation for each network.","PeriodicalId":292057,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2014 - 2014 IEEE Region 10 Conference","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127544542","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Leaving un-corrupted pixels intact, this filter should be applied to Corrupted Pixels. Without damaging the edges of image for removing impulse noise, Median filters are used. This may lead to hazy and slanted image features. Uncorrupted pixel signal details are eliminated and intensities are altered, while applying the median filter unconditionally to the entire image. For discriminating uncorrupted and corrupted pixels, it is essential to have noise-detection process preceding to applying standard linear filtering method which depends on local spatial correlation. Similar neighbourhood pixels occurring anywhere in the image can be exploited by non-local principles and contributes for denoising using NLM. Decision Based Un-symmetric Trimmed Median (DBUTM) filter is used to identify possible noisy pixels in the image. These pixels are replaced through median filters or its variants leaving other pixels unchanged. Even though image window size is big enough, this filter is an optimum one to detect noise at high level of noises. Experimental results are derived based on various methods namely, Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR), Mean Square Error (MSE), Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Structural Similarity Index Measure (SSIM).","PeriodicalId":292057,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2014 - 2014 IEEE Region 10 Conference","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125640304","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the past, without the Internet technology, the elderly must spend their life in the nursing home even though they are not in any serious sickness due to the expensive wage of the personal curator. Fortunately, nowadays, the capability of mobile phone and the quality of networking have been improved. With the proposed model, the elderly health care strategy is changed. To begin with, the questionnaire has been carried out to the caretaker of the elderly. The result shows that almost all of them would like to tend the elderly at home if these three major problems; falling, medicine taking, and monitoring, can be solved. In this paper, not only the senior patient can recuperate at home safely without home health aides but also, this new model runs with everyday technologies and low-cost equipment such as Smartphone. The falling is detected with an integrated tri-axial gyroscope and the alert will be sent to the caretaker via the Internet. The medicine taking problem is solved with the medicine box that can be controlled by the caretaker in a remote distance. Lastly, the monitoring application is developed.","PeriodicalId":292057,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2014 - 2014 IEEE Region 10 Conference","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125940085","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

IEEE 802.22 Wireless Regional Area Network (WRAN) has been adopted as a standard in this regard. WRAN has a coverage radius of up to 30km. Due to large cells and opportunistic spectrum utilization, the self-coexistence situation, where multiple WRAN Base Stations (BSs) share the same spectrum band in the same region, is expected to be common. This paper explores the use of relay-based WRANs to improve the transmission performance under the self-coexistence situation; this performance improvement has not been reported to the best of our knowledge. In particular, we investigate the delay performance of multi-hop WRANs under the self-coexistence situation using simulations, and compare the performance to the case of single-hop WRANs without relay. We also evaluate the delay performance for hybrid scenarios where some of the Consumer Premise Equipments (CPEs) use relay while others communicate directly to BSs. Numerical results indicate that using relay transmissions for CPEs in the overlap area of self-coexisting WRANs can help decrease the average packet delay when the transmission resources become scarce.","PeriodicalId":292057,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2014 - 2014 IEEE Region 10 Conference","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126531440","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Generally the sampling rate of LIAs is much higher than the required frequency in typical applications. Moreover the hardware configuration of LIAs is much better than the requirement. The signals are processed using high-end signal processors which increase the cost of LIA. This paper aims to develop an inexpensive and portable alternative for the digital lock-in amplifier. This will enable application of LIAs in remote locations and in distributed systems which require multiple signal processors simultaneously. Similar implementation exists on microcontrollers and embedded processors. This paper utilizes a TMS320 series Digital Signal Processor (DSP) which is a low-power signal processor. The lock-in amplifier is implemented on A TMS320C5535 eZDSP board. Unlike other LIAs the reference signal is generated in the DSP, hence obviating the requirement for an external reference input. The output is obtained through UART interface and observed on a computer. It is tested with a noisy sinusoidal signal given as input and the output signal is plotted and verified.","PeriodicalId":292057,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2014 - 2014 IEEE Region 10 Conference","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124164888","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After almost 30 years, the remaining IPv4 addresses have been distributed by Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) in February 2011. Due to the exhaustion of IPv4 addresses, the transition from IPv4 to IPv6 is required definitely. The IPv6 protocol and address will gradually replace IPv4, and they might coexist in the Internet for a long time. In Taiwan, the Government plans to migrate most of websites and Internet services during 2013 to 2016. In order to prevent the IPv6-only users cannot acquire the same information as IPv4 users, some content providers start to evaluate the content consistency of websites. However, these tasks need manpower and waste time. In this paper, we propose an on-line evaluation system for reducing the efforts of content comparison. We utilize the concept of web crawler to detect the website supports dual-stack or not, and evaluate the content consistency automatically. PD signals were investigated by using ultra high frequency (UHF) measurement technique. 12 independent parameters, skewness and kurtosis of each period of the measured electromagnetic signal, were calculated. 80 experiments in total were performed. PCA-SOM PD classification model was constructed. Then, 60% of the experimented data was used as a training data for the PD classification model. Another 40% experimented data was utilized to evaluate the performance of the designed PD classification model. Besides, noise signals were generated with a computer program and trained into the PD classification model as well. The peak of noise signal was set up at 10%, 20% and 30% of the peak value of the PD signal. These noise signals were added with the PD signals to generate a mixed noise - PD signal. Then, the mixed noise - PD signals were used to evaluate the performance of the PD classification models. It was found that the designed SOM model and PCA-SOM model can predict PD patterns without noise signal with the accuracy 100% of classification. The prediction ability of SOM for PD classification models decreased sharply when this model was tested by the mixed-PD signals with the noise level of 30% of the peak value of the PD signal. Whereas the PCA-SOM provided some degree accuracy reducing for PD pattern classification when it was verified with such data.","PeriodicalId":292057,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2014 - 2014 IEEE Region 10 Conference","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125591988","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
