Objektif kajian ini adalah mengenal pasti tayangan Upin & Ipin episod Boria Suka-Suka sebagai tarikan minat kepada penonton untuk mengenali boria. Seterusnya, kajian ini membincangkan elemen boria dalam memberi pengetahuan kepada penonton yang menonton persembahannya. Kajian dijalankan secara kualitatif menggunakan analisis kandungan sebagai instrumen utama kajian. Hal ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti kekuatan dan kelebihan siri animasi Upin & Ipin yang mampu menarik minat penonton terhadap teater tradisional boria yang berasal dari Pulau Pinang. Data diambil daripada tayangan video di Youtube dan Facebook melalui komen-komen secara rawak. Animasi ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan pendekatan teori AIDDA membentuk akronim Attention (perhatian), Interest (minat), Desire (hasrat/keinginan), Decision (keputusan) dan Action (tindakan). Dapatan kajian ini menunjukkan perkaitan antara satu sama lain bagi membentuk minat dalam episod Boria Suka-Suka. Beberapa kekurangan persembahan boria dalam animasi ini dibincangkan untuk penambahbaikan terhadap elemen-elemen boria. Kajian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi titik awal kepada pembentukan minat dan rujukan apresiasi boria melalui animasi agar struktur boria terus terpelihara. \u0000  \u0000The present study investigates the appreciation of the boria through an episode of the animation Upin & Ipin’s “Boria Suka-Suka.” The objective of this study is to identify Upin & Ipin’s episode of “Boria Suka-Suka” as a medium of attraction for the viewers to get to know boria. The elements of the boria have also been discussed in informing the audience by watching the performance. This study has taken the form of a qualitative study by the use of content analysis as the main instrument of the analysis. This is done to identify the strength and the advantages of the animation Upin & Ipin that had successfully attracted the viewers’ interest towards the traditional theatre, boria, that originates from Pulau Pinang. The data had been taken from the video clips of the episode from Youtube and Facebook through the random selection of the comments. This animation had been analysed by using the AIDDA theory which stands for the elements of Attention, Interest, Desire, Decision and Action. The findings of the study show that the link between the AIDDA elements in establishing interest in the episode of “Boria Suka-Suka.” Some drawbacks regarding the boria performance in the animation have also been discussed for the betterment of the boria elements. Etnik ini banyak menetap di daerah Kota Marudu dan sebahagian kecil lagi di daerah Pitas. Sistem Bi’nattang telah dipraktikkan oleh etnik Kimaragang pada tahun 1840–1845, iaitu sebelum kedatangan British di Borneo Utara. Kertas kerja ini akan membincangkan bentuk dan struktur sistem Bi’nattang dari segi susun lapis sosial, sistem kepimpinan, sistem kekeluargaan dan hubungan jantina yang diamalkan dalam sistem ini. Sehubungan itu, satu analisis ke atas struktur sistem Bi’nattang dibuat dengan mengupas susun lapis sosial, sistem kepimpinan, sistem kekeluargaan dan hubungan jantina dalam sistem Bi’nattang. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa sistem Bi’nattang terbentuk berdasarkan norma, kepercayaan dan nilai yang diamalkan dalam kehidupan etnik Kimaragang (Bernardi, Gonzales & Requena, 2006). Pada masa kini, sistem Bi’nattang tidak lagi diamalkan oleh etnik Kimaragang namun, sebahagian adat dan undang-undangnya masih diteruskan. Kajian ini penting bagi memahami sistem pentadbiran tradisional etnik Kimaragang iaitu sistem Bi’nattang.\u0000 \u0000The Bi’nattang System is a Kimaragang ethnic social system. This ethnic largely located in Kota Marudu District and a small part of Pitas District. The Bi’nattang system was practiced by the Kimaragang ethnic groups in 1840–1845, before the advent of the colonial powers in North Borneo. This paper will discuss the shape and structure of the Bi’nattang system in terms of social structure, leadership systems, family systems and gender relations practiced within the system. The results show that the Bi’nattang system is based on the norms, beliefs and values practiced by the Kimaragang ethnic groups in their lives (Bernardi, Gonzales & Requena, 2006). To date, the Bi’nattang system is no longer practiced by the Kimaragang ethnic group, but some of its custom and laws are still practiced. Penghasilan Produksi Teater ini memerlukan perancangan dan pelaksanaan yang sistematik. Sehubungan itu, artikel ini membincangkan kewajaran Produksi Teater diapliksikan dalam pembelajaran genre drama menerusi mata pelajaran Kesusasteraan Melayu Komunikatif. Implikasi pelaksanaan Produksi Teater bukan sahaja dapat memupuk pengalaman sosial dan sikap bekerjasama antara satu sama lain, malah berupaya menarik minat pelajar dalam mempelajari genre drama. Teater atau drama dalam pendidikan makin dikenali di negara kita terutamanya dalam konteks pendidikan dan penglibatan kokurikulum di sekolah. Walau bagaimanapun, pendekatan Produksi Teater dalam pembelajaran drama masih belum dikenali. Justeru, ia wajar dilaksanakan agar pendekatan ini boleh diterima oleh pihak guru dan pelajar dan dapat diaplikasikan melalui pembelajaran drama di sekolah.\u0000 \u0000Learning activities that conceptualize the Theatre Production are activities that involve the process of artwork. The results of this Theatre Production method require systematic planning and execution. In relation to that, in this article, the Theatre Production should be applied in learning through drama genre subject of Malay Literature Communicative. Implications for implementing Theatre Production method not only foster social experiences and cooperative behaviour, but it can also engage students in learning the drama genre. Theatre or drama in education are increasingly recognized in our country, especially in the context of education and co-curricular involvement in schools. Ia berupaya menjadikan kehidupan lebih sempurna sekiranya interaksi dan komunikasi antara seniman dan audiens terlaksana. Namun demikian, karya seni rupa adalah unik dan tidak mudah untuk difahami oleh semua lapisan masyarakat. Menerusi apresiasi dan kritikan karya seni, kefahaman dan keprihatinan terhadap sesuatu hasil karya dapat dipertingkatkan dengan lebih tepat. Terdapat beberapa pendekataan, kaedah dan model apresiasi dan kritikan seni rupa yang boleh digunakan untuk tujuan tersebut yang menjadi fokus perbincangan dalam penulisan ini. Kaedah tinjauan literatur digunakan untuk mengumpul dan menganalisis ciri-ciri dan kelebihan beberapa pendekatan apresiasi dan kritikan seni, khususnya dalam memahami bentuk dan makna sesebuah karya seni rupa. Perbincangan dalam penulisan ini dapat menjelaskan pendekatan yang dikemukakan dan diharap dapat memberi manfaat dalam menambahkan golongan celik seni serta mengurangkan jurang antara seniman dan audiennya. \u0000  \u0000ABSTRACT \u0000Visual artwork or fine artwork has its own significant in human life. It could make human life more perfect if the interaction and communication between the artist and the audience has been achieved. However, visual art is a unique artwork and not easy to understand by all walks of life. Thru the art appreciation and art critique, the artwork’s understanding and awareness could improved in more precise. There are certain approaches, methods and model of art appreciation and art critique can be applied for said purpose that became the main focus of discussion in this writing. The literature overview has been used to collect and analyze the features and advantage of certain art appreciation and art critique approaches, especially in understanding the visual art form and content. Tulisan ini memberikan tumpuan terhadap kaitan antara budaya Mengayau, ritual Kukui dan persembahan Lansaran etnik Murut Tahol. Bagi mengumpul data kajian, pengkaji telah menjalankan tiga kerja lapangan di lapan buah kampung di Daerah Tenom. Pengkaji telah menemu bual sejumlah 14 orang informan Murut Tahol yang arif dalam hal Lansaran. Analisis yang dilakukan dalam kajian ini adalah berasaskan interpretasi terhadap hasil temu bual dan cerita lisan yang disampaikan oleh informan Murut di tempat kajian. Hasil analisis mendapati persembahan Lansaran pada asalnya ialah sejenis permainan tradisional dan dijadikan sebahagian daripada persembahan ritual Kukui yang berkait rapat dengan budaya Mengayau. Bagi mententeramkan roh mangsa yang telah dipenggal kepala, maka upacara Kukui dikendalikan supaya roh mangsa serta semangat jahat lain tidak mengganggu penduduk kampung. Tulisan ini telah menonjolkan persembahan Lansaran, aktiviti Mengayau dan upacara Kukui adalah saling berkait. \u0000  \u0000ABSTRACT \u0000Lansaran is one of the traditional performances of the Tahol Murut ethnic group residing in the interior of Sabah. The focus of this paper is analyzing the relationship between the Lansaran performance, headhunting culture and the Kukui ritual. To collect research data, three separate field trips had been conducted in eight Tahol Murut villages in Tenom District. In the field trips, 14 Murut Tahol informants were interviewed. The analysis in this paper is based on the interpretation of the data gathered from the interviews with the informants. This study found that the Lansaran performance was originated from a Murut traditional game, where the kids were playing by jumping on the tree trunks. Later, Lansaran became part of the Kukui ritual, which is closely related to the headhunting culture. To calm down the spirit of the human soul, whose head had been cut off during the headhunting activity, a ritual which is known as Kukui would be performed by the ritual specialist. In doing so, it is believed that the spirit of the victim and other evil spirits will not harm the villagers. Kajian ini meneliti novel Nazi Goreng (2015) karya Marco Ferrarese, Perempuan Politikus Melayu (2016) karya Faisal Tehrani dan Budiman (2017) karya Regina Ibrahim. Novel-novel ini dipilih sebagai contoh penerbitan ‘karya indie’ yang merujuk kepada karya-karya yang diterbitkan oleh penerbit swasta, tidak seperti hasil karya sastera Melayu arus perdana yang diterbitkan oleh pendukung sastera Malaysia iaitu Dewan Bahasa Pustaka (DBP). Menurut Rafidah Eksan (2016), sastera indie merupakan karya yang ditulis oleh pengarang baharu dan masih muda dalam penerbitan. Mereka menjadikan ruang ini sebagai alternatif untuk menyiarkan karya mereka yang santai dan tidak terikat dengan mana-mana peraturan dalam undang-undang penerbitan kerana proses penerbitan sastera indie tidak dikawal ketat oleh mana-mana pihak. Penelitian tentang sastera indie dilihat menerusi gaya penulisan yang bersifat memberontak dan agresif, luar dari kebiasaan sastera arus perdana yang terikat dengan etika penulisan dan penerbitan. Menurut Muhammad Rashidi dan Siti Nur Hidayah (2016), sastera indie lebih bersifat sarkastik, protes, menentang, maki hamun dan tidak mempunyai ciri-ciri penulisan yang tertentu. Begitu juga menurut Md Salleh Yaapar yang mengatakan karya ‘indie’ boleh merosakkan bahasa Melayu dan jati diri bangsa Melayu, (Astro Awani: 2016). However, to define this important principle is difficult as it is a perplexing principle as it is based on personal opinion. To 'achieve' and understand 'appeal' need a systematic way, and this project proposes 'Kansei Engineering' approach. The project adopts Kansei Engineering method to achieve 'appeal' by selecting a popular animation domain and use qualitative method to analyze the appeal factor through the adaptation of Kansei Words in which, this projects renamed to Viewer's Impression Word (VIW). Through VIW the project managed to identify 'appeal' factors through multivariate analysis such as factor analysis, Partial Least Squares and PCA, it managed to propose systematic loose principles. Personifikasi adalah antara gaya bahasa yang mendukung konsep penggunaan kata yang menyimpang daripada makna asal. Fungsi personifikasi ini mirip dengan gaya bahasa isticarah yang terdapat dalam kesusasteraan Arab. Ia mendukung fungsi yang sama dengan gaya bahasa personifikasi dalam kesusasteraan Melayu. Gaya bahasa personifikasi merupakan pemberian atau penyerapan sifat manusia kepada benda tidak bernyawa atau sesuatu yang abstrak untuk mendapatkan kesan seni. Oleh itu, makalah ini menganalisis konsep personifikasi dalam kesusasteraan Arab dan kesusasteraan Melayu. Selain itu, makalah ini turut menganalisis persamaan dan perbezaan konsep tersebut dalam “Wasf Al-Layl” Bait Puisi Imru’ Al-Qays dan “Duhai Malam” lirik ciptaan Ad Samad. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kepustakaan dan pendekatan bandingan. Kajian ini mendapati bahawa fungsi gaya bahasa ist’arah dalam kesusasteraan Arab adalah sama dengan gaya bahasa personifikasi dalam kesusasteraan Melayu. Daripada kedua-dua teks ini, jelas menunjukkan bahawa kedua-dua pengkarya memberikan sifat manusia kepada ‘malam.’ Penggunaan konsep personifikasi pada kedua-dua teks bertujuan untuk menjelaskan makna dan menjadikan karya mempunyai nilai keindahan. Dari sudut lain, Imru’u al-Qays dalam bait puisinya mengungkapkan ‘malam’ dengan pelbagai gambaran, manakala Ad Samad dalam lirik lagu “Duhai Malam” hanya menggambarkan ‘malam’ seperti manusia. \u0000 ABSTRACT \u0000The beauty of a work can be seen in the use of words that deviate from the true meaning. Personification is a language of style that supports the concept of using words that deviate from the original meaning. The function of personification is similar to the style of isticarah in Arabic literature. It has the same function as the personification style of language in Malay literature. Personification style of language is giving or absorption of human actions to inanimate objects or abstract for artistic effect. Therefore, this paper analyzes the concept of personification in Arabic literature and Malay literature. In addition, this paper also analyzes the similarities and differences in that concept in “Wasf Al-Layl” poetry by Imru 'Al-Qays and “Duhai Malam” lyrics written by Ad Samad. This study uses qualitative and comparative approaches. The study found that the function of language style isticarah in Arabic literature is same with the personification style of language in Malay literature. From these two texts, clearly shows that the two artists gave human act to ‘night.’ The use of the concept of personification in both text aims to explain the meaning and makes the work has value of beauty. Elemen grafik sesebuah logo terdiri daripada gambar, warna, tipografi, komposisi dan paparan reka bentuk. Kajian ini bertujuan menganalisis reka bentuk logo dalam bidang seni visual, khususnya logo institusi pendidikan di Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Kajian ini membataskan sampel khusus dengan memilih logo Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu sebagai mewakili institusi lain di Kota Kinabalu. Kaedah kajian ini mengaplikasikan kaedah kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan teori ikonografi yang diketengahkan oleh Panofsky (1972). Teori ini berasaskan tiga tahap analisis, iaitu peringkat deskripsi imej, analisis elemen formal dalam logo dan peringkat ikonografi yang menyatakan perkaitan makna atau mesej dalam logo. Faktor-faktor pemboleh ubah dalam kajian ini adalah bersandarkan imej, ikon, simbol, warna dan tipografi pada logo institusi pendidikan untuk mengenal pasti keberkesanan mesej. Kajian ini berusaha menjelaskan maksud yang terkandung dalam logo institusi untuk menjelaskan makna dan identiti institusi pendidikan tersebut. Kajian ini mendapati identiti sesebuah organisasi merupakan cerminan daripada visi dan misi yang divisualkan dalam bentuk logo dan mampu menyampaikan mesej atau maklumat. Justeru, reka bentuk sesebuah logo mampu memberikan sumbangan kepada institusi pendidikan untuk menjelaskan misi dan visi sebagai impak positif terhadap penyampaian moto atau mesej sesebuah organisasi. \u0000  \u0000ABSTRACT \u0000The logo is a graphical sign that serves as the identity of a business, organization, association, club or group through application and graphic elements processed. The graphic element of a logo consists of images, colors, typography, composition and design display. This study analyzes the logo design in visual arts, especially the educational institution logo in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. This study limits the specific sample by selecting the logo of Bandaraya National High School, Kota Kinabalu as representing other institutions in Kota Kinabalu. The method of this study applies qualitative methods using the approach of iconography theory highlighted by Panofsky (1972). This theory is based on three levels of analysis, the image description stage, the formal elemental analysis in the logo and the iconography level stating the relevance of the meaning or message in the logo. The variable factors in this study are based on images, icons, symbols, colours and typography of the educational institution logo to identify the effectiveness of the message.
