Berlatarbelakangkan sejarah yang mempelbagaikan jenis keombo’an-kelamat pula merupakan satu elemen yang paling bersignifikasi dalam melengkapkan kitaran kosmos dalam persembahan teater ritual Igal. Kelompok etnik percaya kelamat merupakan penjaga kunci yang menghubungkan dua alam yang terpisah (mikro kosmos - alam manusia dan makro kosmos- alam semangat metafizik). Ketika persembahan ritual dijalankan, pelbagai keombo’an akan melintasi kosmos dan masuk ke dalam badan kelamat untuk berkomunikasi dan merestui kelompok etnik tersebut. Tanpa kehadiran keombo’an, kelompok etnik percaya persembahan ritual yang dijalankan tersebut telah gagal dan objektif persembahan dilaksanakan tidak dapat dicapai. Walau bagaimanapun, amalan kepercayaan keombo’an adalah satu amalan yang bertentangan dengan syariat Islam, iaitu hal yang memerangkap kelompok etnik dalam konflik di antara dua kepercayaan yang mereka pegang. Around the world, individuals and communities had to deal with both health-related fears and stress, prompted by social distancing and isolation. While the health advantages of the quarantine order have been well documented, its emotional strain on people has had far reaching consequences. As a coping mechanism to deal with the stress of quarantine, the internet was suddenly flooded with posts and videos of people turning to music as a form of individual and communal healing. This paper looks at how communities around the world found solace in music as a form of solidarity that united people regardless of age, gender, nationality, creed and political affiliation. The prospects of music in presenting people with a sense of belonging in times of solitude is explored through the various accounts around the world on the healing power of music. Findings further strengthen previous works on the effects of music on a person’s emotional stability and as a means of communal solidarity.","PeriodicalId":285298,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Gendang Alam (GA)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121596308","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Bukan itu sahaja, Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan Diperketatkan (PKPD) di beberapa kawasan juga dilaksanakan. Memandangkan pengalaman PKP ini adalah pertama kali bagi kebanyakan penduduk dan tempohnya yang panjang sehingga memberikan impak terhadap pelbagai sektor ekonomi negara. Salah satu sektor berkenaan ialah industri media, seni dan hiburan. Penularan pandemik COVID-19 dan pelaksanaan PKP didapati memberikan kesan yang mendalam terutamanya terhadap penggiat seni (profesional dan tidak formal) di negeri Sabah. Asas permasalahan kajian ini didasarkan pada dua isu, iaitu (i) bagaimanakah tahap dan ciri-ciri resilien penggiat seni (profesional dan tidak formal) sepanjang PKP (termasuk PKPB, PKPP dan PKPD) yang berlangsung? dan (ii) bagaimanakah mereka mengadaptasi pendekatan persembahan (seni tari, seni teater dan seni muzik) dari normal biasa bersifat fizikal ke normal baharu, iaitu ‘pentas’ digital dan cabaran yang terpaksa dihadapi dalam tempoh PKP, PKPB, PKPP, PKPD dan pasca COVID-19 nanti? Oleh itu, objektif kajian ini adalah (i) mengenal pasti tahap dan ciri-ciri resilien (daya tahan) penggiat seni sepanjang tempoh PKP termasuk PKPB, PKPP dan PKPD yang dikaji di negeri Sabah (ii) meneliti kepelbagaian strategi adaptasi yang dilakukan oleh pengiat seni persembahan dalam tempoh PKP (termasuk PKPB, PKPD dan PKPP) dalam konteks perubahan daripada amalan normal biasa kepada amalan normal baharu yang dilakukan oleh penggiat seni persembahan di negeri ini (iii) mencadangkan strategi semerta, jangka pendek, jangka sederhana dan jangka panjang yang boleh dilaksanakan dalam memperkasa penggiat seni persembahan dengan mengambil kira perubahan kepada amalan normal baharu dan budaya aplikasi digital pasca COVID-19. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif yang disokong oleh kaedah kualitatif. Kaedah kuantitatif melibatkan temu bual penggiat seni tari menggunakan borang soal selidik. Kajian fundamental ini dijangka dapat menyumbang dalam penyediaan pelan pengurusan risiko dan krisis penularan pandemik dan pembuatan polisis berkaitan dengan bidang seni tari. \u0000The COVID-19 pandemic in Malaysia which was first detected at the end of January 2020 has forced the government to implement the Movement Control Order (MCO) which was subsequently extended to conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) and followed by the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) starting 18 March 2020. The book was developed to encourage children to express their ideas through storytelling, music and movement. This study aims to explore how an interactive book can be used in the music classroom and outlines ways in which music and movement can be integrated while reading a story. Field trips were conducted in Kudat and Pitas, Sabah to collect longoi tanganak from elderly Rungus singers recommended by village heads. Following that, a Sabah-based story was written and a song containing musical characteristics suitable for children’s singing activities were incorporated into the story. Finally, a survey was sent to 12 selected music teachers to answer the following questions: (1) What age group could use this storybook? (2) What genres of children’s literature do you use in your lessons? (3) How would you use this storybook in your music classroom? and (4) Why do you use children’s literature in your music lessons? In addition to that, two music teachers were selected from the pool of respondents and were video recorded teaching a music lesson that incorporated this story book. The results of this study revealed that children were highly engaged in the lesson, responding and actively participating in the reading of the story. This included vocal, movement and instrument exploration. Young children also learned extra skills in sign language and memorising words through the composed song, adapted from a Rungus longoi tanganak (children’s song). This product is an innovation that is suitable to be used as a teaching aid among preschool, kindergarten, and primary school children.","PeriodicalId":285298,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Gendang Alam (GA)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126619093","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, more difficult for visual artists, as they do not generate work in mass, preferring to work on individual projects. Management is the key concern for visual artists, as it affects their commitment, job satisfaction, and productivity. As such, the goal of this study is to evaluate the dedication and job satisfaction of visual artists, as well as their relationship to production. Interviewing, observation, and a review of existing materials are used as research methodologies in this study. The findings indicate that visual artists exhibit a high degree of commitment and job satisfaction but a poor level of management, resulting in a decline in their level of production. Thus, visual artists must be willing to evolve and confront greater difficult issues by establishing a more effective management structure for the visual arts field.","PeriodicalId":285298,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Gendang Alam (GA)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132075028","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, while there is a substantial and well-evidenced body of literature in this area, there are few studies that present the voices of those directly affected by these claims; the children involved as participants in these studies or research projects, especially in Malaysia. This article deals with a fundamental research grant funded by the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia carried out from January 2018 until December 2019. The research project involves six primary schools in the northern states of Malaysia; Penang, Kedah and Perlis. “Silk Shadows Speak” is an action research project that explores Wayang Kulit (shadow play) as a performative art in an attempt to portray that it is able to engage children with heritage folktales in critical and creative ways. The importance of folktales as an integral element of a child’s holistic development is an area that has received significant attention within the academic world (Kaveny, 2015; Normaliza, 2014; Nurul Fiza & Nor Azan, 2010; Zipes, 1997). The concern of the project was finding children’s voices; their thoughts and reactions towards heritage folktales in their everyday lives. The research project aimed at children’s participation in appropriating Wayang Kulit to make and communicate meaning through storytelling, interpretation and creation of characters, puppetry, sounds, textures and gestures.","PeriodicalId":285298,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Gendang Alam (GA)","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133145201","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At present, Malaysia has carried out a large number of research related to the elderly but the information related to the use of healthcare signage in Kota Kinabalu and the perception of the elderly is limited, so it will be very important to study ways to improve the level of healthcare signage. This paper discusses the physiological characteristics of the elderly by consulting existing literatures, provides suggestions to improve the designs causing an effective display of healthcare signage and also analyses the existing healthcare signage in Kota Kinabalu. The data collection qualitative research method used in this study is walk-through observation and semi-structured interviews from the main, public and private, hospitals in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.
