The collagen formula drink mainly consists of porcine and fish collagens, which is an uncommon approach to skin repair and anti-aging. The collagen formula drink could enhance the collagen and elastin formation in UVA-treated CCD-966SK cells by 30% and 19%, respectively. In addition, it up-regulated collagen- and hyaluronate (HA)-associated genes ( COL1A1 , COL1A2 , LOX , and HAS2 ) in the range of 75%-187% as well as down-regulated collagen-degradation gene (MMP-1) by 41%. Also, the collagen formula drink lowered the ROS formation in CCD-966SK cells by 26%. Accordingly, the collagen formula drink can substantially improve the skin repair efficiency after photodamage and provide a comprehensive protection effect on anti-aging.","PeriodicalId":281523,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharma Medicine and Biological Sciences","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116041903","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Algal compounds, in particular, have drawn significant attention for being of biological importance. As cancer is one of the most diseases which causes people to suffer, all researchers and scientists exert much effort to end that suffering. Unfortunately, almost all the current applied conventional treatment methods exert serious side effects with limited therapeutic abilities. Recently, several algal value-added substances exhibited anticancer potentiality; they can be a promising alternative for cancer treatment. We extracted phycocyanin, a blue biliprotein, from Spirulina platensis SAM2021 , with content 3.11 mg/ml and purity 0.61. The obtained phycocyanobilin by methanolysis cleavage showed maximum absorption at λ max = 600 nm. It exhibited IC50 108 µg/ml for colorectal cancer cell line HT-29.","PeriodicalId":281523,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharma Medicine and Biological Sciences","volume":"182 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126075879","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there are still weaknesses found in recent technology in relation to injection of insulin subcutaneously into Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) patient. The injection of insulin into the patient’s body must be specific, exact and precise to ensure that the blood glucose level is between normoglycemic ranges, i.e. 4.5 mmol/L to 6.0 mmol/L so as to avoid hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia episodes. Therefore, this study aims to find the optimum insulin infusion rate into the patient’s body for the blood glucose level (BGL) to be maintained at a safe glycemic range. The study mainly focuses on computer simulation in MATLAB using improved Hovorka equations coupled with an enhanced model predictive control (eMPC) as its control scheme in order to control the BGL in T1DM. Only meal disturbance factor is included and it varies in carbohydrate (CHO) intake during breakfast, lunch and dinner times. The simulation was successfully carried out and its findings indicated that the safe glycemic range was able to be reached at shorter time and maintained for a prolonged period as compared to previous workers.","PeriodicalId":281523,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharma Medicine and Biological Sciences","volume":"12 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129235566","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This challenging aim, however, has a limitation as to accommodate 1000+ electrode array and be within the limits of charge density and temperature increase at the device. In this work, we simulated a ganglion cell ON-model with PEDOT-NaPSS arranged electrode array in a three-dimensional retina model using COMSOL-Matlab interface. We varied electrode size, pulse width and inter electrode-ganglion cell distance to analyze charge density and temperature increase at the device. With our results, we investigated the feasibility of using 1024 electrode array attaching 16 scalable chips of 64 electrodes each with a daisy chain configuration. For IEGD less than 10 μm, it is feasible to use 1024 array of electrodes with the following requirements: i) reduce electrode diameter to 2μm; ii) maximum output voltage of 1 V; iii) work with either 50 or 100μs low pulse duration; iv) 11.3mm electrode carrier area; v) PEDOTNaPSS electrode deposition and vi) circular electrodes. ","PeriodicalId":281523,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharma Medicine and Biological Sciences","volume":"576 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117062370","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By filtering the alpha wave and by using the power spectral density of that same wave, our data were analyzed using the percentiles as measures of dispersion. A threshold discriminating the two states was found, which helped to highlight the area of the brain responsible for the state of drowsiness for driver. Thus, number of EEG signals to be analyzed will reduce and processing time of this system will be decreased. With cross validation technique, data are trained and tested, to get result with accuracy of 80% or higher. It shows that the EEG could be used helping experts in the development of an intelligent system for detecting state of drowsy driving with only ten signals by person.","PeriodicalId":281523,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharma Medicine and Biological Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130730793","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This approach allows for early action in case of dangerous situations for elderly person life (state before heart attack or stroke, etc.). The system for continuously monitoring the health state also allows for quick action of first contact doctors in the case of emergency situations. This described system also allows the remotely monitoring of elderly people in their home by their relatives. The monitoring system is portable, comfortable to use and uses non-invasive measurement methods. This kind of clothing is full user-friendly product. The textronic system is a new product for monitoring selected human physiological parameters, such as: pulse, frequency of breathing, underclothing temperature, positioning inside and outside the house. Textile sensory elements and signal lines are implemented in the structure of the clothing and it is a main innovation of this kind of systems. System of a textile sensor is part of a garment, the monitoring system is fully portable, easy for using, does not require specialized medical services. Furthermore, measurement of physiological parameters is non-invasive which means that does not interfere directly in the human body. The system is completely safe, because it is supplied by a miniature battery such as the one that are used in mobile phones. The combination of textile clothing interface with specialized software for data acquisition and generation of alarm signals provides a continuous overview of the health status of the monitored person.","PeriodicalId":281523,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharma Medicine and Biological Sciences","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116945691","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The interaction of OTC with calcium ion in water and in methanol solvents has been found to form two complexes 1:1 and 2:1 (metal to ligand molar ratio) conductometricallyand the values of Kf has been calculated from conductivity measurements at 293.15, 298.15, 303.15 and 308.15 K, Gibbs free energy of formation, enthalpy and entropy change of complexation were determined from the temperature dependence of the formation constant. Also Kf calculated from the absorption spectra of CaCl2 – OTC complexes in methanol solvent at 293.15 K indicates the formation of 2:1. In case of in-vivo studies there is no significant change was observed in the mean value of serum ionized calcium of the treated rats, this indicates that the values obtained from Conductometric and spectrophotometric studies are accepted because the stability constant values were found to be in biologically active range. The MARS spectral microCT system incorporating Medipix3 was used to acquire spectroscopic CT data from phantoms containing (i) calcium chloride solutions of various concentrations and (ii) sunflower oil and discrete solutions of iodine, ferric nitrate and calcium chloride. These data were used to establish the linearity of the system and to calibrate the spectroscopic response for different materials of interest. The validity of the proposed materials analysis method was determined by analysis of the information entropy and degrees of freedom associated with the inverse calibration matrix. It is concluded that materials analysis is viable using the proposed linear algebra method for some of the materials of interest and the efficacy of the method is improved with the use of appropriate volume constraints. However the method may not be able to independently distinguish iron, calcium, oil and water without additional data and/or constraints. ","PeriodicalId":281523,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharma Medicine and Biological Sciences","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127906761","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The mechanical disturbance is the most complication. Inflammatory process and formation of free radicals can worsen tendon healing. Astaxanthin can be used to help tendon healing. This study aims to prove ratio of collagen type III/type I was lower and the tensile strength was higher on the administration of astaxanthin. This study is an experimental research using post-test only control group design with rabbit as subject. A total of 32 research subjects which meet inclusion were randomly divided into treatment and control groups. The treatment group is the group that was given astaxanthin after Achilles tendon was sharply cut and sewn, while the control group was not given astaxanthin. Statistical analysis using independent t-test found significant difference between treatment and control groups. The ratio of collagen type III/type I of the rabbit Achilles tendon which receive treatment of astaxanthin is smaller than the untreated group p = 0.000 (p<0.05). The tensile strength is greater in treatment group than the nontreated group with p = 0.044 (p<0.05). The result showed that the ratio of collagen type III/type I was lower when treated with astaxanthin thus can help improve the tensile strength.","PeriodicalId":281523,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharma Medicine and Biological Sciences","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121336152","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
