CTCs have recently gained significant interest for their potential for advancing personalized cancer treatment studies. Despite the challenges associated with their detection and analysis, emerging bioinformatics methodologies and technologies have enhanced the understanding of these cells and their role in cancer metastasis. This paper provides a methodological overview of these bioinformatics methodologies, particularly focusing on the computational analysis of CTCs and its implications for personalized cancer treatment strategies. Additionally, the paper highlights the importance of refining current techniques and need for a further development to overcome the limitations of liquid biopsies, such as their limited sensitivity in detecting low-abundance biomolecules. With this overview, we aim to show the transformative potential of CTC analysis combined with bioinformatics, providing valuable insights for future research and clinical applications in cancer immunotherapy and personalized medicine.","PeriodicalId":281523,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharma Medicine and Biological Sciences","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136052990","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, lung cancer has been an ongoing public health problem as it accounts for the highest number of cancer deaths worldwide. Phenotypic expressions such as the invasiveness of lung cancer can vary among individuals. Studies have shown a strong correlation between lung cancer invasiveness and inflammation pathways, making inflammation an ideal biomarker for lung cancer diagnostics and a target for therapeutics. The AGE-RAGE signaling pathway, which causes inflammation by genes with differential expression, is one such pathway for inflammation. Typical causing factors include but are not limited to reactive oxygen species, miRNA targets, mutational signatures, and other pathological functions. Even though the AGE-RAGE inflammation pathway is influential in cancer, it has not yet been developed in therapeutics for cancer invasiveness and should be further studied. In this study, we evaluated the complexities of the AGE-RAGE pathway expression in cancer. Through a detailed investigation using online genomics databases, bioinformatics data analysis, and literature review, the role of inflammation is systematically explored. We also examined the implications of the upregulation of AGE-RAGE on other pathological functions and diseases.","PeriodicalId":281523,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharma Medicine and Biological Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136052991","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a disfiguring skin disease that affects patients physically and mentally because it occurs on the face. The treatment of acne scarring has always been a popular and difficult clinical problem. Gold micro-needling is one of the commonly used treatments for acne scarring. Gold micro-needling can bring about some improvement in the extent of scarring, and is also useful for large areas of post-inflammatory erythema, however, it is less effective for icicle-like, compartmentalized, and elevated scarring. The fractional carbon dioxide laser can accurately grind raised, and irregular scarring, which can significantly improve the unevenness of the skin and make the lesions look more even. We report a case of gold micro-needling combined with fractional carbon dioxide laser for the treatment of severe post-acne scarring.","PeriodicalId":281523,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharma Medicine and Biological Sciences","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136052685","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We performed a PCA analysis on the bulk RNA-seq datasets to observe the variances in gene expression profiles that could distinguish the impacts of genotypes and myoblast differentiation. We found out that the variance of differentiation (51.9%) was much higher than the percentage of variance of genotype difference (5.9%). Corresponding to this, we also found that only a small portion of differentially expressed genes were driven by the FSHD effect only, and the vast rest were driven by differentiation effect. These results further confirmed the difficulties in detecting FSHD induced or DUX4 downstream genes from bulk RNA-seq datasets and highlighted our downstream analysis by using a single-nucleus RNA-seq dataset to dissect the pathology in disease-associated populations.","PeriodicalId":281523,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharma Medicine and Biological Sciences","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136052692","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our study aimed to evaluate the temporal changes in red blood cell indices (MCV, MCH, MCHC, RDW) in COVID-19 patients and the association of other relevant clinical parameters. We analysed 17 medical records of COVID-19 patients in retrospect who required critical care from 1 January 2020 until 28 February 2021 in Hospital Tuanku Fauziah, Perlis, Malaysia. Data extracted include details with regards to escalation and de-escalation of oxygen therapy, clinical and laboratory parameters. There were three time points of interest in our study: (i) admission (Adm), (ii) highest mode of oxygen therapy (HighM), and (iii) weaned off oxygen therapy (WeanOxy). The result showed that the mean duration to clinical deterioration requiring the highest mode of oxygen delivery was 2.3 ±1.85 days and the highest escalation device for oxygen delivery was high flow nasal cannula (n=7, 41.2%). There was no statistically significant difference in RDW, MCV, MCH, and MCHC at different clinical time points, p>0.05. However, there was a statistically significant increment in TWBC trend between Adm-HighM-WeanOxy, χ2(2)=7.023, p=0.030. Our study did not find evidence of structural RBC changes reflected in RBC indices. However, recovery from COVID-19 was reflected in the rise of TWBC and ANC, similar to that observed with other viral illnesses.","PeriodicalId":281523,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharma Medicine and Biological Sciences","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116247481","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problem being faced is the analysis of microarray expression data, which requires a mandatory feature selection step due to the strong imbalance between number of features and size of the training set. The proposed technique has been assessed on relevant benchmark datasets. All datasets report gene expression levels taken from female subjects suffering from breast cancer against normal subjects. Experimental results, with average accuracy of about 84% and very good balance between specificity and sensitivity, point to the validity of the approach.","PeriodicalId":281523,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharma Medicine and Biological Sciences","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117236012","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For example, the important diseases are pneumonia and foodborne illnesses, which could be caused by Pseudomonas sp. and Salmonella sp. respectively. Direct bacteria counting methods from blood or body fluid are the best methods that could give crucial information regarding the health situation of a person, a specialist oversees these methods. For the direct counting, an error could occur from eye fatigue. In this research, image processing was applied to automatic bacteria colony counting. This method can reduce the error. In this research, MATLAB software was applied to bacterial colony counting. Salmonella enterica, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Serratia marcescens, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were selected as samples. This method had an accuracy of more than 90% and could reduce human error and improve counting efficiency.","PeriodicalId":281523,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharma Medicine and Biological Sciences","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132632545","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A small number of images was acquired. To circumvent the issue of not having many samples, a method of generating the training set is proposed to increase target signatures and optimize the baseline quality of inputs for object recognition. To tackle the challenge of detecting varied scale targets, a sophisticated and powerful Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) based on faster region R-CNN, with the prepared training dataset, was trained. In this study, the datasets for five different species of Aspergillus were previously collected via SEM. The proposed method is applied to identify the spore structures – conidia – in the images so as to recognize the species respectively. The initial experimental results show that the developed method can qualitatively and quantitatively identify the relevant species effectively, being of major importance for the development of easier diagnostic and identification tools in mycology.","PeriodicalId":281523,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharma Medicine and Biological Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130910387","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
