Despite this proliferation, local studies dealing with the acknowledgment section of the undergraduate theses tend to be premature most specifically in the field of Teacher Education (TE). The study aimed to analyze, through the presence of moves, the overall structure of the thirty (30) randomly sampled undergraduate acknowledgments from the field of TE using Hyland’s model. The findings revealed that the undergraduate acknowledgment structure was comprised of Thanking Move which is the most pervasive move, followed by the Reflecting Move. Though the Announcing Move was notpresent, one unique move, which is Thanking God, appeared to be dominating in the corpus. It is suggested for future studies to increase the number of the corpus in order to yield more interesting results and explore the socio-cultural aspect of the investigated genre.","PeriodicalId":280647,"journal":{"name":"Academic Journal Perspective : Education, Language, and Literature","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126256142","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The language media in TYT is presented in Indonesian language because it is only for Indonesian students. In the making of TYT, students' need analysis (SNA) is required to find out students' weakness in learning English. It's usually all about what language features they need and what constructed videos need to be uploaded. The purpose of the study is to find out the process of how non-native English teacher (NNET) proceeds SNA underpinning the construction of TYT for the sake of enhancing students' English performance.This case study took place in one of private universities in West Java. One English teacher, in particular English lecturer, participated for the interview and class observation. The interview result was crosschecked with the classroom observation under the Triangulation process. The goal of Triangulation is to get deep result and finding of the research. Thus, the result shows that NNET uses SNA-based TYT. She observes what the students need by scanning them all the way through during the learning session. If she thinks that her students need enrichment in one of language features, she will construct a TYT and upload it. This kind of classroom observation might scaffold the teacher in teaching English to EFL students since the time allotment in teaching English in the class can not cope with many aspects of language features. The conclusion is TYT, as the learning media, is developed based on SNA and it is fruitfull to be implemented to fulfill what the students need in learning English.","PeriodicalId":280647,"journal":{"name":"Academic Journal Perspective : Education, Language, and Literature","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117292261","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The researcher aims to investigate whether the English Talking Book in Teaching Reading at the Eighth Grade of Junior High School effective in reading aloud. Theories used to support this research are from Patel and Jain (2008) about the audiovisual media and reading aloud. Audiovisual media involves more than one sensory organs of the learner which improve retentiveness and makes learning permanent also seeing and hearing go together which play ordinary roles in learning. Meanwhile, reading aloud is very important for the teacher to carry out, to know, and to check the students' pronunciation, information, stress, paused, and rythm and their ability in various short of punctuation marks. The research used experimental research of method, and took two classes consisting of 30 students each class as sample in SMP Al Washliyah Sumber. The data for this experimental study were students' reading scores, and the reading scores were analyzed of using McMillan and Schumacher's formula. The research found that the reading scores of the experimental group is higher than the control group. The result of t account is 0.75, t table is 1.672 forα -5%. It means that t account is higher than t table (t account > t table). Therefore, the conclusion is English Talking Book in Teaching Reading at the Eighth Grade of Junior High School is effective in reading aloud. English Talking Book in Teaching Reading makes the students enthusiasm to learn the fairy tale test and help them produce correct intonation or tunes and notice how English is spoken differently from the way they are written and listen very well. It is suggested to use of English Talking Books in Teaching Reading as an alternative media in order to students' ability in reading aloud other genres of text or to improve students' listening skill.","PeriodicalId":280647,"journal":{"name":"Academic Journal Perspective : Education, Language, and Literature","volume":"144 11-12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129494963","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was a qualitative research using a survey method. It involved XII-grade students who had taken the examination from some vocational senior high schools in East Ciputat, South Tangerang, Banten, i.e. SMK Triguna Utama, SMK YMJ and SMK Moh. Husni Thamrin. A questionnaire was therefore constructed to elicit their beliefs, attitudes, behaviors and/or opinions regarding the UN. The findings showed almost all of the students believed that National Examination could increase their learning intensity, or, in other words, UN could motivate them to study harder. However, there was also revealed that the students doubted and questioned the effectiveness and importance of UN in creating better teaching learning process. These thus indicated that National Examination had positive as well as negative washback on teaching learning activities of XII-grade students of some vocational senior high schools in South Tangerang.","PeriodicalId":280647,"journal":{"name":"Academic Journal Perspective : Education, Language, and Literature","volume":"2016 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127472505","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
