Overdentures can help reduce residual ridge resorption by providing sensory feedback, occlusal stability loss, aesthetics loss, and compromised mastication. Overdenture has been shown to be effective in reducing residual ridge resorption and increasing retention and stability. When edentulous areas are too large or numerous for fixed prosthesis and cross arch stabilisation is required, a cast partial denture is preferred. Insertion and removal of the denture, as well as regular oral hygiene, are simple procedures. The current case-report describes the rehabilitation of a partially dentate mouth using a maxillary castpartial denture and mandibular overdenture.","PeriodicalId":269506,"journal":{"name":"DMIMS Journal of Dental Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132553777","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The chief goalintreatment of OSMF is to alleviate signs and symptoms, slow the development of the condition, and reduce the chance of a cancerous transformation.Use of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals demonstrates improvement in the condition. There has not been a single medicine that has completely cured OSMF symptoms, hence combining the treatment regimens can be a basis for management of OSMF.In the early phases of OSMF can be benefitted with patient counselling for complete habit cessation, physiotherapy exercises as well as lycopene, multivitamin, minerals, etccan be tried. Ayurvedic treatment modalities like spirulina, tulsi, aloe vera, turmeric, ashwagandha can be used as adjuvant therapies. High-quality research should be done to further analyse the outcomes of different pharmaceutical formulations in the OSMF’s management when combined with physio therapy. The present review work is undertaken with the purpose to explore various medicinal modalities that can be used in the management of OSMFevaluating their merits and demerits","PeriodicalId":269506,"journal":{"name":"DMIMS Journal of Dental Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115435556","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The introduction of advanced material science made tremendous changes in the dental practice. Aim and Objectives : Aim of this study was to assess and compare the push-out bond strength of Endosequence Root Repair Material (ERRM putty), White Mineral trioxide aggregate (WMTA) and Biodentine after incubation in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) for 7 days, 30 days and 45 days. Materials and methods : 90 extracted single rooted human premolar teeth were used in this study. To avoid the desiccation of teeth after extraction, the teeth were kept in hydrogen peroxide solution and washed under tap water. Then the teeth were cleaned with pumice and stored in normal saline at 37˚C until use. The middle 1/3rd portion of each root was sectioned at right angle to the long axis to produce discs of 2.00 ± 0.05 mm thickness using a diamond disc with continuous water irrigation. Finally, 90 root slices were produced. The specimens were dipped in 17% EDTA for 3 min followed by 3 % NaOCl for the same period of time and then rinsed with distilled water and dried. The specimens were divided randomly into 3 groups: Group I- ERRM, Group II - White MTA, Group III- Biodentine. PBS solution was changed every 5 days to replenish the buffering capacity of the PBS. All specimens were incubated at 37ºC. After the completion of experiments, the specimens were sent to the push-out test. Analysis of data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics both. The software SPSS 17.0, EPI_INFO 6.0 version and Graph Pad Prism 5.0 version was used and p<0.05 is considered as level of significance. Result and conclusion : Highest push out bond strength was seen with ERRM at all incubation times followed by mineral trioxide aggregate and Biodentine .It has been observed that increase in the incubation time had increased push-out bond strength of the material significantly.","PeriodicalId":269506,"journal":{"name":"DMIMS Journal of Dental Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133586482","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Loops can be fabricated in a sectional or full arch wire, and closing loops are usually used in loop mechanics for extraction space closure. The major advantage of loop mechanics is the lack of friction between the bracket and arch wire during space closure. An adult patient with bimaxillary protrusion reported to the clinic. The patient was treated successfully by maximum retraction of maxillary and mandibular anterior teeth after extraction of all first premolars. Space closure was begun using a moment differential between posterior and anterior segments created by a Tear drop loop. Anterior teeth were moved with bodily movement, and no anchorage loss of the posterior segments was seen using a Tear drop loop spring. A stable result with normal over jet and overbite was achieved with retraction of maxillary and mandibular anterior teeth. With a Tear drop loop, individual biomechanical responses can be achieved, and it is possible to calculate force magnitude for every patient.","PeriodicalId":269506,"journal":{"name":"DMIMS Journal of Dental Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129139352","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
