Knowledge of dental health worker plays an important role in infection control in dental set up. Aim : To evaluate the knowledge of clinical and paraclinical personnel about infection control regimen. Methodology : Present study included 300 participants, out of which 260 were clinical and 40 were paraclinical personnel. Questionnaire included 8 questions based on the knowledge related to hand hygiene, disinfection, sterilization an needle stick injury. Likert scale was used for assessing their responses. Results: There is a significant difference between the clinical and para-clinical personnel regarding Knowledge about infection control practices. Conclusion : This study shows that knowledge of clinical and paraclinical personnel about the infection control measures in dental hospital is limited with definite scope for improvement.","PeriodicalId":269506,"journal":{"name":"DMIMS Journal of Dental Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127815846","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To overcome this problem of marginal leakage, Glass Ionomer cement base was used to substantially replace the composite resin restorative material in the proximal box.This technique is known as “composite-laminated GIC” or “sandwich” restoration. In the traditional “closed sandwich” technique there is placement of the zirconomer at the base of the proximal box so as it falls just short of the external cavo surface. This procedure offers no protection from proximal caries until failure of the dentine bonding agent.Materials and method : Twenty-six sound healthy teeth with absence of caries, restoration, cracks and white spots were selected.The proximal box was 4 mm wide bucco-lingually; whereas, the pulpal and axial walls measured to be 2 mm deep. After placement of the Zirconomer at the base of the proximal box such that it falls just short of the external cavo surface, etching and bonding of Zirconomer was done. Composite resin was placed in the proximal box and occlusal surface, leaving the zirconomer encased within the preparation. Samples were then processed for thermocycling. With the help of modelling wax, the apexes of the root were sealed to prevent the ingress of dye. The samples were then coated with nail varnish, applying two coats around all surfaces of teeth leaving 2 mm of the marginal area around the restorations. Immersion of sample was then done in methylene blue dye. Samples were then washed under running water for one minute and then air dried. In next step restorations were sectioned longitudinally through the centre of the tooth. They were sectioned by using diamond disc along with water as coolant. Sections were examined at 32x magnification under a stereomicroscope. SEM observations at the gingival margins of the specimens restored with closed sandwich technique depicted less satisfactory marginal adaptation. Conclusion : It can be concluded that none of the technique tested are free of microleakage. Zirconomer placed in the gingival floor of class II composite restoration may be a practical method to reduce microleakage.","PeriodicalId":269506,"journal":{"name":"DMIMS Journal of Dental Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126656149","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This especially plays an important role while fabrication of a prosthesis. Facebow is used to orient the maxilla to the base of the skull and transfer the same to an articulator. Articulator and their respective compatible facebows use different anatomic points for this purpose. There have been various suggestions by authors so as to which anatomical point should be used. In growing patients midline diastema can be seen as a physiological condition that is self-correct after the eruption of all permanent teeth. This phenomenon of self-correct condition was explained by Broadbent. But not all diastemas are self-correcting. For some patients, the diastema does not close at all. There are various reasons for the occurrence of upper arch midline diastema that must be considered, with the help of intraoral evaluation, including soft tissue/ mucosal diseases, tooth size discrepancies, teeth angulation among others. The case presented described presence of midline diastema due to high frenal attachment in a female aged 17 years. In such cases, tissue conditioners or resilient liners are the best treatment options to restore the health of oral mucosa and also to permit the use of denture and therefore there is a need to increase the longevity of these temporary liners and also provide surface smoothness to avoid irritation in the tissues. This can be achieved by the application of a layer of sealant over the surface of soft liners. Henceforth by evaluating the effects of two different surface coating materials viz Monopoly and Permaseal on the softness and the surface integrity of the two tissue conditioners, the tissue conditioners without a coat of sealants loses the quality of the softness in relation to time interval.","PeriodicalId":269506,"journal":{"name":"DMIMS Journal of Dental Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114559306","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most invasive OSCC are preceded by clinical premalignant lesions and conditions such as oral leukoplakia, erythroplakia, oral lichen planus, and oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF). These remain in preinvasive stage for years and the cancerous alterations remain indolent and not readily recognizable on clinical and histopathologic examination. There are various biological markers which can be used to monitor progression of precancerous lesions to cancer, predict the therapeutic response and prognostic outcome of cancer. Among these serum alkaline phosphates (ALP) is recognized as an important marker of induction of tumor cell differentiation. We attempt to analyze the role of these enzymes as a biomarker in OSCC cases.","PeriodicalId":269506,"journal":{"name":"DMIMS Journal of Dental Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121091669","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
