The participants in this study were 60 students in the first semester of the 2018/2019 academic year who took an Indonesian language course. It was found that students were familiar with writing activities. But the majority were limited to non-academic genres such as writing poetry, short stories, and writing personal blogs. Also, students have almost the same problems in academic writing, both from linguistic aspects, technical aspects, to issues of developing writing ideas. Such texts are the centre through which certain values and knowledge are ignited and becoming a source of pleasure for both parties. As manifestations of collective ideas that are culturally bound to the context of real life, the result can be literal, direct, and symbolic as well as imitative. Therefore, the emergent thematic ideas or literary projections may reflect the subject-oriented characters of human existence. In this way, literary texts become the embodiment of collective humanity that enables them to learn more than they do without these. Literary authors, readers and critics do not only learn about it per se but also about the culture and community in a broad sense. Thus, it becomes a field of humanitarian exploration and construction of identity. This research aims to describe the materialization of character education of a Surakarta signature batik. This research was conducted through a qualitative methodology. Surakarta Batik has specific feature both in its stamping and writing processes. The technique and process of making smooth batik requires high motivation and carefulness to develop reliable and patient characters of humans. Surakarta batik motif is variously created with the expectation to bring goodness on the wearers. The meaning in the batik motif has a purpose to develop brilliant and virtuous humans. Generally, it brings values and positive life attitude owned by individuals in influencing behaviors, mindsets, and actions. The data were obtained from an interview with Batik figures and craftsmen in Laweyan Surakarta area in the forms of written documents, books, and photographs of the batik. The research instrument is the researcher himself because the researcher is the data collection tool as well as being the data analyzer. “Bumi Manusia” novel provides descriptions of Nyai Ontosoroh which can be used by the author to convey feminist ideology according to the result of the analysis. Method of the data analysis was carried out through descriptive technique and a content analysis was applied to examine the data collected. This research used a descriptive qualitative method, since the objects of the research were literary texts. Content analysis was deployed, while the instrument was human instrument, which means that the researcher is positioned as the one who has gained the knowledge about the theory of violence proposed by Johan Galtung, and New Historicism was used to make further analysis of kinds of violence in literary works. The procedures of this research were (1) parallel reading technique; (2) the analysis used to study further about the Leontin Dewangga, Ode Untuk Selembar KTP, and Dendang Perempuan Pendendam short stories made by Martin Aleida was New Historicism. In this research, literary texts data having any connection with any kinds of violence in September 30, 1965 were aligned with non-literature texts related in the short stories by all means to integrate them with the literary texts analyzed. This research aims to describe of teenager aged 13-15 years in Magelang on the elements of plot, character, style, and theme fairy tale “Burung-burung Memilih Raja” and the affecting factors that influence their response to this fairy tale. It is a method of concurrent embed model combination. The research subjects are the grade VIII students in one learning group of the four schools in Magelang. The data source is the fairy tale entitled “Burung-burung Memilih Raja” retold by Nukila Amal, the result of the response to this fairy tale, and the factors that influence the responses. The research data was obtained through questionnaires. The data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results show that in one side, the fairy tale “Burung-burung Memilih Raja” got the positive responses from the readers. But, in the other hand there are contradictions to these results. Internal factors consist of limited literary reading experience and limited experience of hearing or watching fairy tales. This study utilized qualitative content analysis. The data were taken from the interaction among the legislative members of the House of Representatives of Medan during the working meeting with the mayor of Medan city in acknowledging the budget in 2020. The data were in the form of transcripts of utterances. Having analyzed the data, it is found that there are four types of tenor configuration. The type [formal/unequal/positive/infrequent] becomes the dominant type totaling to 56.40%. The data show that the formality used is formal, the status is unequal and equal, the affect is positive and negative, while the contact is infrequent. The formality is observable since the meeting is conducted in a formal situation. Then, the unequal status is identified since the members address other interlocutors by using addressing terms, and the equal status is recognized through the use of pronouns such as ‘we’. The positive affect is signaled by the use of positive tone words, while the negative affect is signaled by the use of negative tone words. The contact is infrequent since the formal language is used during the meeting. The use of those configurations is acceptable since they meet in a formal setting attending by the members of the House of Representatives, mayor-deputy mayor, and other parties. Besides, positive and negative affect were employed as the evaluation of the government’s work. This research is aimed to explain the Indonesian pronunciation mistakes of the students, to solve those mistakes, and to give some useful suggestions about Indonesian pronunciation skills to Chinese people. The method used in this research is qualitative research. The techniques that were used to collect data are observation and interview. Analysis used in this research including: collecting data, identifying mistakes, classifying mistakes and descripting mistakes. The mistakes include vowel and consonant pronunciation. The results of this research include five aspects. First, the mistakes of vowel pronunciation about the letter <e>. Second, the mistakes of pronunciation of voiced phonemes [b], [d], and [g]. Third, the mistakes of the phonemes [ñ], [ ʤ ] and [r]. Fourth, the mistakes of pronunciation of the unreleased stops <t>, <d>, <k> and <g>.
