Camus is acknowledged as an existentialist, whose works propose and elucidate the notion of the “absurd” of that generation, while Wiesel is typically identified as a Holocaust writer who has attempted in varying ways to find a voice with which to articulate the experience of the final solution (Estess, 1976). In fact, critics argued that Camus’ absurd philosophy has impacted greatly on Wiesel for whom Auschwitz signifies the absurdity of human and divine behaviour and the breakdown of the Covenant and the Jewish spirit. Instead of interpreting the image of the absurd as indifferent outsiders in classical criticism, this article argues that the two protagonists, Meursault and Eliezer are inside outsiders from the perspective of the “absurd” and the text itself; and further explores the shared theme \"death\" involved in these two works.","PeriodicalId":266719,"journal":{"name":"IRA International Journal of Education and Multidisciplinary Studies","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122287108","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

English has become an international lingua franca and a means for communicators to express local culture in cross-cultural communication. Today, as different cultures are increasingly intertwined, China now needs to present itself and tell its story to the world, which is the call of The Times for mutual learning and common development among civilizations around the world. It is also a realistic call for building confidence in Chinese culture and educating people through political and moral education under the great changes that have never been seen in a century. The study found that rural English teachers used more genuine expression strategies and surface acting strategies and less deep acting strategies; teachers used more genuine expression strategies in their interactions with students and colleagues and more surface acting in their interactions with parents and leaders, among which, since most rural students are stay-at-home children, teachers need more emotional labor to communicate with their guardians; therefore, teachers mostly used surface acting, but hardly used deep acting and genuine expression strategies. Factors that influence their emotional labor include teachers' personalities, teaching experiences, colleague relationships, school rules about teachers' emotions, and teacher faculty status. Based on the findings, this study proposes recommendations to improve rural English teachers' emotional labor in order to promote the development of rural English teachers.","PeriodicalId":266719,"journal":{"name":"IRA International Journal of Education and Multidisciplinary Studies","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134130824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the deepening of undergraduate education reform, more and more colleges and universities have focused on general education. Our country has been practicing the professional education model for a long time, which has led to some problems, such as a deviation in the education concept, a slow integration in the education mode, and a narrow field of vision in the curriculum. The development of general education in colleges and universities in the new era should go beyond the traditional misunderstanding, recognize the importance of general education, make effective integration with professional education, make full use of its own unique ideological connotation and outstanding characteristics, and strengthen the effective linkage with professional education.","PeriodicalId":266719,"journal":{"name":"IRA International Journal of Education and Multidisciplinary Studies","volume":"3 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129101678","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
