Especially, the T2 control chart is known as a multivariate control chart that monitors a mean vector of several related quality characteristics. It is an important issue to identify which quality characteristics are responsible for out-of-control signal when a multivariate control chart signals. This paper considers a method of identifying quality characteristics responsible for out-of-control signal on operating the T2 control chart.","PeriodicalId":257474,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 6th International Workshop on Computational Intelligence and Applications (IWCIA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127644641","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose a new method, Parallel - Genetic and Annealing Programming (P-GAP) which combines GP and SAP. In P-GAP, multiple initial populations are generated by SAP. Respective populations evolve by parallel GP. As the generation proceeds, populations are integrated gradually. To examine the effectiveness, we compared P-GAP with the conventional methods in five test problems. As a result, P-GAP showed better performance than GP and SAP.","PeriodicalId":257474,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 6th International Workshop on Computational Intelligence and Applications (IWCIA)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129976472","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we expanded HMRL to multi-target problem to take the distance between targets to the consideration. The function, called `AT field', can estimate the interests for an agent according to the distance between 2 agents and the advantage/disadvantage of the other agent. Moreover, the knowledge related to state-action rules is extracted by C4.5. The action under the situation is decided by using the acquired knowledge. To verify the effectiveness of proposed method, some experimental results are reported.","PeriodicalId":257474,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 6th International Workshop on Computational Intelligence and Applications (IWCIA)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127827833","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many conventional methods proposed by these studies have been used or applied for many fields, for instance, scene recognition system for digital camera, similar image retrieval system on websites, and robot vision for autonomous or assist robots. From above, scene understanding is important, however it is as difficult as generic object recognition due to the diversity of categories. Many conventional methods have been proposed, and these focus on color or spatial frequency features in images. Especially, scene classification using features of spatial frequency show efficacy. Seen from the results of these studies, it seems that there is common features within a same scene. In this paper we proposed scene classification method with a focus on the structure of scene. We define the structure of scene as a set of lines in images and calculate these features using Hough space acquired by applying Hough transform to images. In addition, we calculate color features and combine those features. By using these two features we generate two strong classifiers with Boosting algorithm, and combine the results of each strong classifier. To test our approach, we executed two classes classification of scenes for each category using scene classification dataset. The results show that our approach is effective for several scenes especially the scene with artifacts.","PeriodicalId":257474,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 6th International Workshop on Computational Intelligence and Applications (IWCIA)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116988446","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this surgery, detecting functionally essential cortical areas is important process which is performed with direct electrical stimulation using an electrode by surgeons, and this process is called cortical mapping. Cortical mapping requires sophisticated techniques of surgeons because it needs a lot of experience and knowledge for selecting electrical stimulation position and current intensity. Hence it is needed to extract techniques of expert surgeons by analyzing recorded surgery videos performed by expert surgeons. Surgery videos recoded during operations, however, are not suitable for analysis due to these videos are recorded for postoperative evaluation. Then tagging specific scenes like electrical stimulation has been performed in manual with a lot of labor. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a method to automatically detect the position of electrical stimulation in surgery videos of cortical mapping. The proposed method employs the shape characteristics of an electrode, a classifier using Real AdaBoost and a tracking using mean-shift algorithm. We apply the proposed method to three different recorded surgery videos, and experimental results show that our method detects the tip of an electrode with high accuracy.","PeriodicalId":257474,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 6th International Workshop on Computational Intelligence and Applications (IWCIA)","volume":"32 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128717912","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

People transmit and collect information over the Internet through these georeferenced documents, which are usually related to not only personal topics but also local topics and events. Detecting topics and events in georeferenced documents is effective in geo-location applications such as marketing, tourism informatics, and recommendation systems. Burstiness is one of the simplest and most effective criteria for extracting hot topics from a document stream. In this paper, we propose a novel method, which extends Klenberg's burst detection algorithm, for detecting location-based bursts in georeferenced documents by considering the user's moving direction. To evaluate the proposed burst detection algorithm, we used crawling tweets posted on the Twitter site. The experimental results show that our method can detect location-based bursts by considering user's moving direction.","PeriodicalId":257474,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 6th International Workshop on Computational Intelligence and Applications (IWCIA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131037027","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, some inadequate utterances could not be detected because these methods only considered either linguistic or acoustic features, whereas, in general, people use both features to judge an utterance. In this paper, we propose a method using both linguistic and acoustic features. The linguistic features are based on not only word frequency but also sentence and conversation structures. The acoustic features are based on the variances of power and fundamental frequency (F0). A Support Vector Machine (SVM) is used to learn these two types of features compositely. The experimental results showed that the precision of proposed method using both linguistic and acoustic features increased 6% from the traditional recognition method and recall of the proposed method increased 14% from the traditional method.","PeriodicalId":257474,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 6th International Workshop on Computational Intelligence and Applications (IWCIA)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130868661","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Previously, a constraint propagation based timetabling algorithm, Really Full Look-ahead Greedy (RFLG), has been proposed and has shown good results for some real timetabling problems. We adopt Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) to this algorithm in order to iteratively learn a selection order of variables to be instantiated and a selection policy of values to be assigned. A performance evaluation experiment using a real timetable data of unified lower and upper secondary school has been conducted, and results show that the proposed algorithm can construct good timetables.","PeriodicalId":257474,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 6th International Workshop on Computational Intelligence and Applications (IWCIA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125474135","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such a man-made disaster will increase the damage. Evacuees have to give good influence to the global evacuation behavior by means that they evacuate calmly without preceding personal benefit. So far, a lot of computer simulations, especially using the multi-agent system, or MAS, have tried to clarify the valuable knowledge for the smooth evacuation. We also have made the MAS model on the evacuation behavior. Especially, we have investigated the influence of the mutual concession of the agents on the global evacuation time, which was the time all agents in some space completely evacuated to the outside. As a result, the global evacuation time was minimized when the a, the probability of the concession, was in the range between 0.3 and 0.5. Also, the global evacuation time was decreased more by means of placing obstacles near the exit.","PeriodicalId":257474,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 6th International Workshop on Computational Intelligence and Applications (IWCIA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130785984","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
