Two three-phase, two-level voltage-source converters (VSCs) are connected back-to-back to form an AC-AC regenerative converter. Only the motoring operation of the regenerative converter is studied in this paper. The lack of a dc-bus capacitor results in low-frequency dc voltage ripple following the rectification of the ac utility source and such ripple would cause low-order harmonics being fed to the motor. These harmonics are eliminated by a method based on selective harmonic elimination pulse-width modulation (SHE-PWM) being further optimized online. The assembly problem is divided into four different and related sub-problems: definition of the component placement sequence, definition of the distribution of the components in the magazines, definition of the pickup sequence, definition of the nozzle sequence. The random restart hill-climbing method was used in two different stages: in the first stage to optimize the component placement sequence and the component distribution sequence in the magazines, in a global optimization process; in the second stage, to optimize the placement sequence and the pickup sequence in the local process. The design of the controller is based on two cascaded subsystems: a minimum norm kinematic controller with command saturation, and a controller that compensates for the dynamics of the mobile manipulator system. Robot commands are defined in terms of reference velocities. Stability and robustness to parametric uncertainties are proved by using Lyapunov's method. The design and choice of measuring principle is based on the direct piezoelectric effect, for the measurement of the dynamic force, and on the analysis of the electromechanical impedance technique, for measuring the static force. This technique is based on the measurement of modes of the structure. Indeed, the application of stress on the structure will cause changes in the modes of the structure and appearance of new eigenmodes. Thus far these methods should allow for measurement of static force applied. A preliminary literature review has highlighted the benefits and potential of the technique of electromechanical impedance analysis to design a force sensor. After choosing an original structure that allows the sensor function, for different types of dynamic and static effort, a study of this technique was undertaken and led to analytically model the structure by a Mason's scheme and determine the eigenmodes and the scale factor. The simulation on ANSYS® software was used to determine the electromechanical parameters of the structure, using the Lagrangian approach. In facilities with moderated power generation, the WF are connected through medium voltage (MV) distribution headlines. A situation commonly found in such scheme is that the power generated is comparable to the transport capacity of the grid. This case is known as Wind Farm to Weak Grid Connection, and its main problem is the poor voltage regulation at the point of common coupling (PCC). Thus, the combination of weak grids, wind power fluctuation and system load changes produce disturbances in the PCC voltage, worsening the Power Quality and WF stability. This situation can be improved using control methods at generator level, or compensation techniques at PCC. In case of wind farms based on SCIG directly connected to the grid, is necessary to employ the last alternative. Custom power devices technology (CUPS) result very usefull for this kind of application. In this paper is proposed a compensation strategy based on a particular CUPS device, the Unified Power Quality Compensator (UPQC). A customized internal control scheme of the UPQC device was developed to regulate the voltage in the WF terminals, and to mitigate voltage fluctuations at grid side. The internal control strategy is based on the management of active and reactive power in the series and shunt converters of the UPQC, and the exchange of power between converters through UPQC DC-Link. This approach increase the compensation capability of the UPQC with respect to other custom strategies that use reactive power only. First, taking into account an unitary power factor, droop (proportional) and inertial (derivative) classical controls are incorporated by considering a negative load behavior of the wind farm. Then, a wind farm control law based on the Passivity Theory is proposed. As a consequence, the passivity technique proves the proportional and derivative laws plus the passive control as a whole control law which takes into account the non linear nature of the electrical system. The whole control is added to the normal operating power reference of the wind farm established by a Supervisory Control.
