Abstract
A transaction manager integrated directly into a field device prevents inconsistencies to the data of the field device caused by parallel accesses by more than one user. A transaction manager controls all internal and external accesses to the field device data. Its functions must be available not only within the field device but especially to external users accessing the field device by standard industrial communication systems. Different communication paradigms applied by these communication systems require elaborated mapping approaches which must be standardized in future.
