The design (new analytical method) was based on a standard 250 W three phase 12-pole induction motor (squirrel cage rotor type), beginning with the original stator constructive data to calculate the magnetic flux density to determine the permanent magnets. In the development of the work, a simple and modular rotor was built reusing the original 12-pole stator (concentrated windings). The machine was evaluated in a laboratory for the purpose of checking the quantity and quality of energy produced with the machine operating as a generator and its start, torque, and performance working as a motor. In conclusion, the modular skewed magnet is an option for electrical machines, for the generation of a reasonable quality, in the context of decentralized generation and a motor with high torque and low energetic consumption.","PeriodicalId":256385,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-03-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114434119","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mathematical models for simulation and control are introduced and subsequently applied to the commercial aircraft: the DraganFlyer quadrotor and the Micro-Mosquito coaxial flying vehicle. The MAVs have been hardware-modified in order to perform experimental autonomous flight. A novel approach for control based on Hybrid Backstepping and the Frenet-Serret theory is used for attitude stabilization (Backstepping+FST), introducing a desired attitude angle acceleration function dependent on aircraft velocity. Results of autonomous hovering and tracking are presented based on the scheme we propose for control and attitude stabilization when MAV is maneuvering at moderate speeds.","PeriodicalId":256385,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-03-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116362272","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This can lead to severe problems, such as system frequency oscillations, and/or violations of power lines capability. With proper control, a distribution static synchronous compensator (DSTATCOM) integrated with ultracapacitor energy storage (UCES) is capable to significantly enhance the dynamic security of the power system. This paper proposes the use of a UCES system in combination with a DSTATCOM as effective distributed energy storage for stabilization and control of the tie-line power flow of microgrids incorporating wind generation. A full detailed model of the DSTATCOM-UCES device is presented and a novel three-level control scheme is designed, comprising a full decoupled current control strategy in the d-q reference frame and an enhanced power system frequency controller. The dynamic performance of the proposed control schemes is completely validated through digital simulation in MATLAB/Simulink.","PeriodicalId":256385,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology","volume":"280 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-03-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124222954","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The fractal monocular video codec uses the MCP structure. And the fractal stereo video codec is proposed which matches the macroblock with two reference frames in left and right views results in increasing compression ratio and reducing bit rate and bandwidth. The proposed fractal stereo video codec combines the MCP and DCP. Experimental results indicate the proposed fractal monocular video codec could improve the image quality 13% averagely, raise compression ratio 3–5 times, and reduce compression time 90%; For fractal monocular video codec, the proposed fractal stereo video codec can raise compression ratio 3–5 and improve the image quality 0.5 dB.","PeriodicalId":256385,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-03-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126238271","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the highly complex multivariable coating process needs to be well-controlled in order to ensure high product yield and prevent failures in the coating process resulting in discarded batches and potentially significant loss of revenue. This requires reliable in-process measurement of the coating film thickness. Near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy was found to be the most suitable tool for studying the properties of pellets. However, the existing methods are based on complex calibration requiring reference data on the coating film thickness of several production or even custom batches which are typically assessed by a microscope. Such approach is highly time consuming and impractical. Therefore, we propose an alternative method for analysis of NIR spectra, which produces useful results even without calibration. The proposed method also requires no prior knowledge on the coating process or previous batches of uncoated or coated pellets. The method was tested on samples taken from the coating process of two different batches of pharmaceutical pellets. The correlation coefficient between the average coating film thickness estimated from the NIR spectra and the average coating film thickness measured by the reference method was 0.99, which can be considered an excellent result. Therefore, the method was found feasible for laboratory or in-process approximation of the average coating film thickness of pharmaceutical pellets.","PeriodicalId":256385,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-03-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126455661","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Three different operating modes are considered: normal mode, open-circuit degraded mode and short-circuit degraded mode. For each case, an adapted torque control strategy is proposed, applied and tested. The main contribution lies in the control strategies for degraded modes. For the open phase mode, different operating criteria are considered. For short-circuit faults, two solutions are proposed. The proposed strategies in this paper are tested on a drive realized for aerospace applications. The proposed techniques here allow operating under fault conditions in real-time and their implementation is easy. The experimental results show the validity of the proposed methods.","PeriodicalId":256385,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-03-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125466066","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, we focused on the human body motion which has relation to actions or behaviors. This motion comes from the human stabilization function for holding expectable collapsing caused by voluntary motion. Thus this motion is considered as one of the characteristics of human motions, and is linked to the intentions. Therefore, by applying this human body motion to the interface of an electric wheelchair, it is possible to operate the wheelchair without any complex motions or conscious motion. We call this interface as HBMI (Human Body Motion Interface).
