The scope of this article was developed through experience gained through fieldwork and a review of scholarly literature. The factors that contribute to the successful implementation of ERMS have been examined under various categories. An examination of ERMS was based upon system and records principles whereas the processes of the pilot implementation and maintainability was stressed in ERMS implementation.This study is more of a research article and is written with the aim of stressing practical principles and characteristics that will act as a guide for organisations. Findings show that organisations should have a good understanding of ERMS as a system and records management and that investment in ERMS should be realised through a planned project. The benefits of ERMS which can be categorised in the following categories were also examined albeit in a less detailed manner; organisations, staff, society, financial and environmental. In addition, organisations should bear in mind these progress factors during the decision making process of ERMS implementation and the off the shelf or bespoke ERMS application should be evaluated in accordance with these success principles. Online social media networks, the phenomenon of present time plays an important role in cultural diversity. In the following sections where online social media platforms are exemplified more specifically, Bourdieu’s concepts of “field”, “capital” and “habitus” are examined. The reason to search the concepts related with digital habitus that provides virtual identity and virtual statu to its users is to help recognazition and understanding of online behavior. New forms create multiple medianorms with transmedia and social media applications. Publishing and/or broadcasting parts of a story in electronic/digital cross-media broadens the network of mental engagement more compared to mere adaptations of a literary work to another medium. With developments in transmedia outlets, new layers are added to the story and storytelling is further broadened and deepened. It is then necessary to consider how the human imagination will be affected by new progresses: Will it expand or narrow? Will it be virtuality or reality oriented? How can we guide imagination in this unpredictable media environment? A model was developed with the inclusion of five-factor model of personality traits, job satisfaction, career satisfaction, career self-efficacy and career commitment. A total of 430 responses were gathered from IT professionals working in Turkey. Structural equation modeling technique was used for the analysis. According to the results, job satisfaction and career commitment have direct negative effects on turnover intention. As a consequence, individual’s perception of the world surrounding his/herself may be affected. Considering this ever-evolving climate of change, communication theories have to be revisited and efforts of critical thinking should be made by scholars in order to keep theories up-to-date or determine them as not capable of explaining contemporary conjuncture.
