However while current models provide good descriptions, they are in need of updates given current Big Data challenges. Current data mining methods do not meet all requirements of businesses, in addition current methods are difficult to remember and do not cover all requisite steps. Given these limitations, usage of the traditional data mining process methods are fading in favor of independent data mining processes. What Was Done: BEMO (Business Opportunity, Exploration, Modeling, and Operationalization) is a standard parsimonious process developed for conducting data mining projects in a reusable and repeatable fashion in a Big Data environment. This model is vendor, technology, and industry agnostic. The process model is applied to a practical project example. Why this Work is Important: This manuscript allows a reusable and simplified model for data mining that can be applied to a variety of applications given a formalized and detailed process template. Given new technologies, Big Data and other developments a new data mining methodology is required to adequately meet these needs. The contribution of a parsimonious Big Data mining model also permits utilizing simpler models over complex models that can more efficiently generalize new problems.","PeriodicalId":244910,"journal":{"name":"AJIT‐e: Online Academic Journal of Information Technology","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123368224","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By modelling software reliability, it can be estimated when and with how much effort a project can be deployed. Consequently, this can contribute to the resource and schedule planning of a project. Therefore, software reliability models (SRM) are frequently used for measuring the maturity of a software. A number of studies exist in the literature that compare SRMs in terms of their modelling performance. However, there is a need of evaluating these SRMs by taking into account the software project domain. This study aims to compare the performance of SRMs in the context of Web applications. In accordance to this purpose, six different software reliability models, namely Goel-Okumoto, Musa Exponential, Inflected S-shaped, Delayed S-shaped, Yamada and Pham Nordmann Zhang Imperfect Fault Detection (PNZ), are evaluated by using the defect records of four Web application projects developed by a Turkish software organization. 100%, 70% and 50% of the recorded data is used as input to the maximum likelihood parameter estimation (MLPE) method and the results of these three cases are investigated and commented separately in the research. The goodness of fit and the predictive validity of the models to the project data are tested by calculating Mean Square Error (MSE), Mean Magnitude Relative Error (MMRE), Percentage Relative Error Deviation (PRED) and Average Balanced Predicted Relative Error (A.BPRE) measures. For each NHPP model 48 separate cases which are combinations of the three defect inflow data cases (100%, 70% and 50%), four projects and four measures, are investigated and ranked. It is shown that the NHPP models can be applied to Web applications and Delayed S-shaped model displays the best results among the alternatives. However, it is understood that the Goel-Okumoto and Yamada models give identical results and that these two models converge to each other with respect to the project defect data that has been used. Combined, these two models obtain the highest ranking scores and it is concluded that these two models perform better than the other models with respect to Web based software.","PeriodicalId":244910,"journal":{"name":"AJIT‐e: Online Academic Journal of Information Technology","volume":"40 33","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113983719","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although handling customer complaints online has become a strategic concern in hospitality and travel industries, we couldn’t attain any studies which compare sub categories of services in the context of e-complaints. Hence, the secondary aim was to contribute to the literature in this field. Data were collected from the online Turkish complaint site “Sikayetimvar.com” which has made customer feedback publicly available. For the airline sector 299 and for health-care sector 316 filed complaints were transferred into single documents as data for content analysis. Each dataset was coded. Then coded data were analyzed by using SPSS. Findings indicate that health-care and airline companies were more enthusiastic about a response than the lodging sector. Results of the paper bring up some implications for lodging sector.","PeriodicalId":244910,"journal":{"name":"AJIT‐e: Online Academic Journal of Information Technology","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129876608","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
