The enormity of DNA strand data has been revealed to be of humongous proportions. It is imperative to employ the art of parallel and distributed supercomputing in order to process such magnanimous magnitudes of data. We have deployed a scalable array of linearly connected hardware accelerators for the solution of the Smith-Waterman Algorithm; a technique used to resolve sequence alignment of DNA strands. We have synthesized the system on a reconfigurable platform and carried out a performance analysis of the speedup factor accomplished. The system is further connected to a powerful embedded microprocessor which, in a multithreaded environment, serves as an interface to the World Wide Web. Sharma","doi":"10.1109/ICEE.2009.5173176","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/ICEE.2009.5173176","url":null,"abstract":"In order to evaluate the techno-economic performance of Hybrid Energy System for remote rural area electrification, a mixed integer linear mathematical programming model (time-series) has been developed to determine the optimal operation, optimal configuration including the assessment of the economic penetration levels of photovoltaic array area, and cost optimization for a hybrid energy generation system consisting of small/micro hydro, biogas, biomass (fuelwood), photovoltaic array, a battery bank and a fossil fuel generator. An optimum control algorithm written in C++, based on combined dispatch strategy, allowing easy handling of the models and data of hybrid energy system components is presented. A special feature of the proposed model is that a cost constant (cost/unit) for each of the proposed resource is introduced in the cost objective function in such a way that resources with lesser unit cost share the greater of the total energy demand in an attempt to optimize the objective function. Normally fuzzy c-means (FCM) algorithm is not used for color image segmentation and also it is not robust against noise. In this paper, we presented a modified version of fuzzy c-means (FCM) algorithm that incorporates spatial information into the membership function for clustering of color images [7, 8]. We used HSV model for decomposition of color image and then FCM is applied separately on each component of HSV model. For optimal clustering, grayscale image is used. Additionally, spatial information is incorporated in each model separately. The spatial function is the summation of the membership function in the neighborhood of each pixel under consideration. The advantages of this new method are: (a) it yields regions more homogeneous than those of other methods for color images; (b) it reduces the spurious blobs; and (c) it removes noisy spots. It is less sensitive to noise as compared with other techniques. Phase failure occurs when one of the three phases of the supply goes down during the running of motor. Poly phase induction motors continue to operate in this condition but under some severe operating conditions and eventually resulting in performance degradation and permanent burnouts. Detection of phase failure by voltage measurement is not useful in case of poly phase machines and it is not possible even by current monitoring if the machine is installed in a system with a mixture of 1-phase and three-phase loads. The proposed method relies on the continuous measurement the phase difference between the terminal voltages of the machine. Further it presents an improvement in other existing methods which are based on stator current monitoring. The proposed method has been simulated using MatLab/Simulink. These attractive features are compelling the industry to adopt Zigbee and deploy and integrate it in a whole slew of consumer market applications. Energy consumption always plays a critical role in modern system design and coerces developers to propose and exploit various routing techniques to minimize power losses. The IEEE 802.15.4 standard has been made use of for the MAC and physical layers of the Zigbee protocol stack. In our work we have identified that a clustered network approach brings about minimum energy consumption in such networks; this is owes to the fact of load distribution among data aggregating heads. We provide a beacon enabled performance analysis of such network. Recently in addition to conventional schemes of the fractal generation new technique for generating the fractals has been initiated. This paper mainly focuses on handling and manipulating the points in 2D space based upon the principles of genetics to search for apparent or hidden similarities among the data points. The use of such techniques is targeted for exploring the “similar” pattern among the points in 2D so that a self similar or fractal structure may be obtained. Split-step Fourier model for Nonlinear Schrödinger equation was used to obatain these results. The comparison of degradation of cosh-Gaussian pulse versus simple Gaussian pulse is provided. The results clearly show that cosh-Gaussian pulse experiences less broadening in comparison with a simple Gaussian pulse for the same propagated distance and other parameters.
