Normally there are two approaches to the implementation of VoIP, one in the form of soft phone and other in the form of dedicated IP phone. In this paper we describe a new scheme to the implementation of VoIP which is different from both of these two approaches in that rather than implementing all the layers of internet as in dedicated IP phones or developing a software application to handle voice communication as in soft phone, We have relied on the functionalities of ordinary analog telephones(i.e. to generate voice and signaling information) and computer application(i.e. to transfer packet based data to the destination) in implementing VoIP. In our proposed scheme, actual voice data and signaling data(DTMF tones)will be transferred to the computer through our proposed hardware and the computer application written in JAVA takes the responsibility of transferring this voice data to the destination in the form of IP packets. We have used SIP as our signaling protocol to handle call setup and tear down. The prototype of our proposed scheme has been successfully completed and tested on our university LAN setup and I t is giving acceptable voice quality, un noticeable delays and latency, which are important metrics to consider while implementing VoIP.","PeriodicalId":244218,"journal":{"name":"2009 Third International Conference on Electrical Engineering","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115250799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To avoid Inter-symbol Interference (ISI) in OFDM by a time dispersive channel, a Cyclic Prefix (CP) is used which also reduces its spectral efficiency. Wavelet Packet Transform (WPT) as a modulation scheme has been proposed for wireless communication. In this paper, WPT based OFDM is presented and proposed using Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) equalizer. Equalization is a major factor in wavelets. MMSE is proposed for Wavelet based OFDM (WOFDM) based on WPT and compared with Zero Forcing Equalizer (ZFE). The performance is measured for arbitrary magnitude Finite Impulse Response (FIR) channels in the presence of Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) and impulse noise. Simulation results show a clear improvement in Bit Error Rate (BER) for MMSE over ZFE equalization technique in the presence of noise.","PeriodicalId":244218,"journal":{"name":"2009 Third International Conference on Electrical Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130916583","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This behavior of noise is observed in various nonlinear systems and a few naturally occurring phenomena. The dynamics of Stochastic Resonance are well established for a nonlinear bistable system. Schmitt Trigger is an example of such a system. There are various parameters which contribute to the overall system response under the influence of stochastic resonance. This paper deals with individual analysis and the mutual relationships of those parameters to achieve optimum performance of Schmitt trigger as a standard bistable system.","PeriodicalId":244218,"journal":{"name":"2009 Third International Conference on Electrical Engineering","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131452120","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The mathematical analysis transforms coupled nonlinear Schrodinger equations to uncoupled nonlinear Riccati differential equations and then to linear, second order differential equations with variable coefficients. These equations are solved to obtain a series solution that is computed with high numerical efficiently and accuracy. Effect of optically amplified multi-span system is also considered.","PeriodicalId":244218,"journal":{"name":"2009 Third International Conference on Electrical Engineering","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134314965","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such a plant can be connected to a power grid by a tie line on which power can flow in both directions. In a Liberalised Electricity Environment (LEE) an industrial plant manager determines least costly operating points for its own generators and submits a demand bid (DB) and a supply bid (SB) in a power exchange (PX). In this paper, a methodology has been developed to take operational data of two real generators and determine their economical production levels as well as a DB and a SB over a range of SP. Optimization results of a power plant operating in a LEE are presented for the scenario of LD being less than plant capacity. Our results show that considerable savings are possible by electricity trading through a PX.","PeriodicalId":244218,"journal":{"name":"2009 Third International Conference on Electrical Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132957330","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These include satellite communication systems, wireless communication and radar systems. In order to select an appropriate RF switch for any application, one must first consider the required performance specifications such as frequency bandwidth, power handling capability, signal level, switching speed, power consumption and tolerable losses. RF MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical-System) technology offers the necessary performance advantages over existing solid-state options. A design of DC contact RF MEMS shunt switch is proposed in this paper. The design is optimized in terms of activation mechanism which includes switch hinge thickness, bridge thickness, air gap height and number of menders. When Lorenz attractor becomes chaotic for specific values of its parameters, PDF of its y(t) becomes a crude approximation to Gaussian and hence can be used to simulate time-varying coefficients. MATLAB is used to both implement the simulator and numerically solve the Lorenz attractor. For a typical input, which we chose as a phase modulated signal, we show that the PDFs of output signal's amplitude and phase follow Rayleigh and Uniform distributions, respectively, as is expected theoretically.","PeriodicalId":244218,"journal":{"name":"2009 Third International Conference on Electrical Engineering","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128740359","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The DNA Microarray Technique participates as one of the leading methods in Cancer Research. Due to the presence of immense noise, fewer numbers of samples and huge amount of genes, the useful genomic knowledge extraction from this technique is an important question in today's Biological Research. Scientists and Researchers are exploring efficient mathematical procedure to find realistic gene expressed knowledge. In this study K-Means Clustering technique is used on an efficient 3rd order polynomial based technique to normalize the genomic data of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and Acute Lymphocyte Leukemia (ALL). AML was used as a model to generate the coefficients of the polynomial by considering non trending, decorellation and offset based techniques. The K nearest Neighbor technique is used to estimate the missing values of microarray data and avoid the impact of missing data on clustering algorithm. The data can be regenerated easily using 3rd order polynomial normalization based on model generated by AML. Top ranked genes in each cluster have been presented in this paper which helps in finding functionally coregulated genes in ALL and AML.","PeriodicalId":244218,"journal":{"name":"2009 Third International Conference on Electrical Engineering","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-04-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121725479","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
