Abstract

An improved analysis and an efficient numerical model, under more generalized conditions, for evaluating the effect of parametric gain of optical noise in fiber optic communication systems are presented in this paper. The mathematical analysis transforms coupled nonlinear Schrodinger equations to uncoupled nonlinear Riccati differential equations and then to linear, second order differential equations with variable coefficients. These equations are solved to obtain a series solution that is computed with high numerical efficiently and accuracy. Effect of optically amplified multi-span system is also considered.
