Abstract

Results of cosh-Gaussian pulse propagation in dispersion dominant regime of single mode fiber are presented. Split-step Fourier model for Nonlinear Schrödinger equation was used to obatain these results. The comparison of degradation of cosh-Gaussian pulse versus simple Gaussian pulse is provided. The results clearly show that cosh-Gaussian pulse experiences less broadening in comparison with a simple Gaussian pulse for the same propagated distance and other parameters. These studies are useful to have less pulse broadening in single mode fiber which is always desired in optical communications.
