Le forti analogie con la versione occitanica della Somme, nota anche come Libre de vicis et de vertutz, lasciano presumere che il testo catalano discenda proprio dalla traduzione occitana e non dall’originale francese. Il caso di studio è reso difficile dalla mancanza di lezioni erronee imputabili al processo di traduzione e dalle complicazioni imputabili alla probabile concomitanza di più fonti, in occitano e in francese, dietro l’allestimento della versione catalana. In ragione di ciò, il contributo si sofferma a illustrare le due tradizioni testuali – catalana e occitana – mettendo a confronto i dati tratti dall’edizione critica del Libre de vicis et vertutz, di futura pubblicazione, con lo studio di Wittlin (1983) sul testo catalano. Il discorso si concentra principalmente su due questioni cruciali: la reductio ad unum dei testimoni catalani e la scelta di includere nella recensio occitana un testimone trascritto in catalano.ABSTRACT: This paper aims at updating the scholarship on the 14th-century Catalan translation of the French moral compendium known as Somme le roi. The relevant similarities between the texts demonstrate that the Catalan version directly depends on the Occitan translation, known as Libre de vicis et de vertutz. Therefore, the paper illustrates both the Catalan and the Occitan textual traditions and compares the results of my critical edition of the Libre de vicis et vertutz with Wittlin’s study (1983) on the Catalan text. This examination will focus on two main critical issues: the reductio ad unum of all the Catalan manuscripts and the choice to include a Catalan manuscript in the Occitan recensio.","PeriodicalId":240113,"journal":{"name":"Mot so razo","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117351094","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Els comtes, la universitat i les elits de Castelló no van estalviar esforços a l’hora de construir i ornamentar un gran edifici comparable a les catedrals romàniques que, com moltes altres esglésies importants del país, al voltant de l’any 1300 es trobaven en ple procés de renovació/actualització a causa de la influència del gòtic, el nou estil constructiu que havia aparegut a l’Illa de França cap a la meitat del s. XII. L’article repassa les activitats que van desenvolupar a Castelló els principals arquitectes i artífexs que van participar en el projecte de construcció de la catedral de Santa Maria. ABSTRACT: The stubborn and persistent determination of the counts of Empúries to retrieve its diocese lost from visigothic times entailed the presence in Castelló of the most notable architects and craftsmen active in Catalonia at the time. The counts, the university and the elites in Castelló did not spare any efforts when they decided to build and adorn a large building comparable to the Catalan romanesque cathedrals which were in a refurbishing process towards the year 1300—like many other important churches in the country—using the new building technology called gothic that appeared towards the middle of the 12th century in the Île-de-France. The activity in the town of the main architects and craftsmen who took part in the cathedral project of Santa Maria is gathered in this text.","PeriodicalId":240113,"journal":{"name":"Mot so razo","volume":"35 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130105042","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a consequence of the growing issuing of debt instruments, town governments had to build a fiscal system of increasing complexity to satisfy the rising annual interests. The system was based on a set of indirect taxes over commerce and the consumption of certain food and manufactured products. Castello d’Empuries was not an exception and the town engaged and consolidated long-term debt between approximately 1350 and 1375. This article analyses the evolution of the taxes on food that the town government of Castello was administering during this period (yield, tariffs and exempt groups), applied on wine and grapes, meat, cereal milling, bread, oil, fish and pigs. On these grounds, the article assesses whether the increasing town debt resulted in a growing tax pressure on its inhabitants, and offers an overview of the main food types that were commercialised in Castello during the 14th century.","PeriodicalId":240113,"journal":{"name":"Mot so razo","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123915033","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its history, from the 12th century on, is that of the build-up of a particular economy which will function as starting-point of those circuits of exchange relationship which are necessary for medieval urbanisation. In functional terms the town of Castello, connected to the major Mediterranean comercial circuits, has to be considered not only as a local centre but also as a node in a network of linked urban centers. Competition between lords of towns and cities has to be considered as a major element in definining the specific place of every center in a regional network.","PeriodicalId":240113,"journal":{"name":"Mot so razo","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125332822","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The jointed transmission of text and music for a lyrical form with refrain and responsorial structure makes this crusading song — the earliest extant exemplar in Old French — an outstanding witness.
