Through the collection of 523 M&A samples from 2005 to 2013, we match the firms' performances of one year before, one year after and two years after the completion of the merger. After excluding the influence of the industry, we conduct Wilcoxon signed-rank test to analyze the changes, and the results indicate that the financial and operational performances after the horizontal M&A are significantly lower than those of the previous year. What's more, by matching the corresponding samples of non-M&A, multiple regression analyses show that the horizontal M&A and the operational performance have a significant interaction role in the influence of the firm's financial performance. Specifically, the operational performance seems to assume the role of “amplifier” to enhance the horizontal M&A's relationship with the firm's financial performance.","PeriodicalId":239892,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114921383","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study explores service innovations of the lodging industry based on customer value perspective, and adopts a qualitative approach when analyzing cases in a single industry. Research subjects are 70 international tourist hotels and 3,688 home stay facilities. A total of 6,216 innovation events were collected from secondary data and in-depth interviews. The unit of analysis is a single innovation event, and analysis is carried out according to pattern matching, interpretation construction, time series analysis, and program logic model. Research findings are shown as follows. International tourist hotels emphasize functional value and relationship value, while home stay facilities emphasize hedonic value, and both attach less importance to contextual value. Moreover, functional value is highly valued in the lodging industry, but international tourist hotels focus more in cuisine and home stay facilities focus more on integrated services. Finally, this study proposes some managerial implications.","PeriodicalId":239892,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115582498","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the underlying deterministic model, we propose a two-stage robust facility location model, incorporating facility disruptions in recourse stage, which is an nonlinear problem resulted by two multiplicative uncertain parameters. Then, using the recent advances in robust optimization, we reformulate the proposed model as a tractable mixed integer linear programming. It not only has the function of stocking and demonstrating items but also has a substantial impact on the sales level of that item. The paper investigates a two-echelon supply chain consisting of a supplier and a retailer in which the demand of the retailer is both price and shelf-space sensitive. The optimal decisions of pricing and allocation of shelf space in the centralized and decentralized supply chain are investigated under unequal channel power structures, namely supplier Stackelberg and retailer Stackelberg. The results show that: 1)In the decentralized supply chains, the retail prices of the retailer are higher, the amount of shelf spaces allocated are less compared to that in the centralized supply chain. 2)Compared to the retailer-Stackelberg supply chain, the retail price is lower and the amount of shelf space allocated is more in the supplier-Stackelberg supply chain. Since the decentralized supply chain are not coordinated, the revenue and cost sharing contact is designed to coordinate the decentralized supply chains with unequal power structures. The reasonable range of the parameter is given to ensure the supplier and the retailer have incentives to accept the contract.","PeriodicalId":239892,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114293235","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In recent years, based on the traditional business, more and more click and mortar companies spring up. But could consumers' trust transfer from offline to online channel? And how? Extant researches lack deep exploration for these questions. In this study, introducing perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness as mediators, and taking perceived security and perceived compatibility into account, we build a research model. Then data are gathered by the method of questionnaire after online practice, and the model and hypotheses are tested by Structured Equation Model software. The research results show that: Firstly, consumers' trust to offline channel of a company, significantly positively affect their trust to its online channel, which finally influences their intention to purchase online, by the complete mediation of consumers' perceived usefulness of e-business websites; Secondly, consumers' perceived compatibility has positive effect on their trust to online business. But the effect of perceived ease of use and perceived security on consumers' trust to online business isn't significant.","PeriodicalId":239892,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management","volume":"382 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116841122","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Motivated by this policy in healthcare management, we study the resource allocation problem in the whole society, and aim at providing managerial insights to the optimal allocation decision. In this paper, we consider there are two hospitals, one is primary hospital and the other is large hospital. We formulate the problem from the hospital's self-interest first, and then analyze the capacity allocation from the perspective of social welfare using queuing models. The result shows that centralized resource allocation is socially optimal, which is in line with the principle of hierarchical healthcare, and it is helpful to promote patient's shunt and help the government to make better decisions of capacity allocation. Finally, we further conduct numerical experiments to show the policy of centralized capacity allocation is the best decision.","PeriodicalId":239892,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129494276","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, with the development of mobile Internet, the government affairs microblog has to fight with more and more other new media products to draw the public's attention. The strategies for the management of the government affairs microblogs must be improved. In this paper, we propose the strategies based on the Social Network Analysis (SNA) on 50 government affairs microblogs in Beijing on Sina Weibo. Firstly, we illustrate the current shortcomings and difficulties which the government affairs microblog is facing with. Secondly, we set up a network consisting of 50 government affairs microblogs on Sina Weibo run by the government departments in Beijing. Thirdly, we demonstrate the structural characteristics of the network with SNA from three levels, i.e. the visualization of the profile of the network, the whole network's structural characteristics with five features - density, clustering coefficient, geodesic distance, cliques and the small world effect, and the structural characteristics of individual microblogs with four features - degree, closeness, betweenness and core/periphery with the help of illustrating their identities in the real world. At last, the strategies for the management of the government affairs microblogs are discussed.","PeriodicalId":239892,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129540995","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it is a challenging research topic, in which many advanced computational methods have been proposed, but not yet attained a desirable and reliable performance. This study proposes a new method for stock market prediction, which adopts the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) neural network and incorporates investor sentiment and market factors to improve forecasting performance. By extracting investor sentiment from forum posts using Naïve Bayes, this paper makes it possible to analyze the irrational component of stock price. Our empirical study on CSI300 index proves that our prediction method provides better prediction performance. It gives a prediction accuracy of 87.86%, outperforming other benchmark models by at least 6%. Furthermore, our empirical study reveals evidence that helps to better understand investor sentiment and stock behaviors. Finally, this work shows the potential of deep learning financial time series in the presence of strong noises.","PeriodicalId":239892,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128781252","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
