On one hand, the reception aesthetics examines how readers in different historical situations react to a literary text, and thus deals with real readers whose reactions point to a certain historically conditioned literary experience. On the other hand, Wolfgang Iser's Theory of the Aesthetic Response observes the impact of a literary text on its implied reader and how it provokes a reaction. The aim is to abstract and typologize the motivants of serionyms, to generalize their communicative and pragmatic potential with regard to linguistic form, target group of consumers and functional members. The tool to fulfill the goal is model and pragmatic analysis, which falls within the research field of onomastics and pragmalinguistics. The pragmatic function of serionyms is related both to the preservation of their appellative semantics and to the way they are produced, namely at the level of motivation and invention. The focus on the target group manifests itself by acting on the emotional or rational component of the percipient's personality, exposing gender stereotypes. The communicative and pragmatic potential of the selected proper names is implemented at the systemic level, first of all, in the functional member of the property, which is an abstraction of figurative naming and template-like gender attributes, and which refers both to the composition and characteristics of the product, and to the characteristics of the user. {"title":"Motivácia profesionálnych tlmočníkov a študentov/absolventov: podobnosti a rozdiely","authors":"Miroslava Melicherčíková","doi":"10.24040/nfr.2022.14.1.58-75","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.24040/nfr.2022.14.1.58-75","url":null,"abstract":"This paper attempts to compare performance motivation among four groups (professional interpreters with longer and shorter experience, interpreting trainees and recent graduates). The main objective was to identify similarities and differences between the groups compared by using a psychological instrument: the Achievement Motivation Inventory (LMI). The data indicated that there were some similarities but also differences between the four groups. All four groups were very similar on two scales (eagerness to learn and goal setting). In terms of differences, overall, the highest mean scores were most often found in the group of professional interpreters with longer experience (more than 20 years); they dominated on six scales (persistence, dominance, confidence in success, internality, preference for difficult tasks, and independence). The professional interpreters with shorter experience (6 to 10 years) scored highest on four scales (compensatory effort, pride in productivity, self-control, and status orientation). The trainees had the highest mean scores on three scales (engagement, flow, and fearlessness). The recent graduates displayed the highest means on two scales (flexibility and competitiveness). One objective is to identify and analyse the specifics of the communication environment, tasks and status of interpreters in Europe and other continents, and to emphasise the influence of time and space determinants on diplomatic interpreting development. Another objective is to point out the long process of both the professionalization and institutionalisation of this activity. Description of the continuously changing characteristics of diplomatic interpreting is applied to define the events that influenced it the most as well as the factors that had mostly contributed to its current features (e.g. establishing interpreting academies and schools, establishing court interpreters offices and secretariats, etc.). The aim of this study is to provide as much factual illustrative evidence as possible about the importance and frequency of interpretation within diplomatic and high political circles already in the era of modern imperia, and to convince both professionals and public how exceptional diplomatic interpreting is as one of the oldest types of interpretation. Special attention is paid to distinctive features diplomatic interpreting bears. They were formed several centuries; some have retained their authentic form, some have been modified (stationary, bipartite, exclusivity etc.). The third objective is to emphasise the diversity of diplomatic interpreting history to highlight the number of progressive changes that have occurred during its development. The article aims to describe the methods of communication of this e-shop on the verbal level. In the introduction of the article, the topic of communication is set in a broader framework of time and content. This is followed by a review of the selection of professional literature on the topic, a description of the theoretical grasp of the research investigation with a terminological explanation of the relevant concepts and then an enumeration of the methods used. Within the verbal investigation, it is examined how the integration of the recipient into the communication is approached in the communication of the web application, what means are used in doing so, how the symbiosis between the verbal and non-verbal components of communication is realized, and what persuasive means are chosen in the communication. The examples of the communication of this e-shop are used to reveal new possibilities of influencing potential clients and the potential of sales applications. The article concludes by highlighting the importance of creativity for advertising in virtual environments. It defines video games as a specialized type of communication and then presents three different types of discourse that take place in the video game industry. This is done in order to show that video game terminology varies and goes beyond a video game per se (e.g., terminology from technology or pop culture). Then the paper presents a video game terminology typology that is based upon a video game corpus made up of Minecraft (a corpus of 42,058 words) and its analysis, but it demonstrates relevant terminology from other video games as well. The point of this analysis is to show that video game terminology is very fluid and video games are a field where new words enter and leave the lexicon quite frequently. Comparative method is used here in terms of comparing language using aspect and cultural aspect as well. Moreover, corpora provide a translator with a wide range of different translation techniques when trying to find the best equivalent that would be appropriately used in a given context. That is why the aim of the article is to analyse the translation of free and fixed word combinations from the English into the Slovak language. The research material used is the Slovak National Corpus. The article will be primarily focused on five chosen adjectival-noun word combinations from the topic of human relationships. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that not all collocations in the source language are collocations in the target language at the same time.
