Odaloš. The aim of the study is to determine the models and semantic fields of urbanonyms in the research sample. The research sample consists of 132 urbanonyms of the city of Zvolen. In the modelling we use the A1 model, which is formed by functional members, namely the functional member U - urbanonynum (denotes the type of onymic relation), and the functional members HCh - honorific characteristic, FL - flora, VL - feature, PU - belonging to the territory, and FA - fauna. These functional members denote additional semantic features. The models of urbanonyms consist of 5 semantic fields, the most numerous being the semantic field (U) + HCh, which contains up to 82 urbanonyms. The most frequent models are A1 = (U) + HCh (72), A1 = FL + (U) (16), A1 = VL (U) (13). Modeling scheme of P. Odaloš is based on the knowledge of Slovak and Czech onomastics and elaborates the Slovak and Czech tradition of onomastic modelling.","PeriodicalId":237233,"journal":{"name":"Nová filologická revue","volume":" 51","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141824894","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These are the towns of Stará Ľubovňa and Podolínec, located in the district of Stará Ľubovňa, and the towns of Spišská Bela and Kežmarok, belonging to the district of Kežmarok in the east of Slovakia in the Prešov region. The collection of urbanonyms was obtained primarily through Internet sources - updated maps or general binding ordinances of the towns (available on the Internet). Through field study, where we spoke with the townspeople, we were able to verify the reliability of the extracted data and the reasoning behind the names. The work's methodology involved modeling urbanonyms using P. Odaloš's modeling idea, which he also applied to modeling chrematonyms, toponyms, and cosmonyms. Our work is organized into two parts: a theoretical section where we describe the fundamental onomastic notions and the modeling technique, and a practical section that is divided into two sections. The model analysis of the urbanonyms of specific cities is highlighted in the first section. The functional members of the A1 model are discussed in the second section, where we pay particular attention to the semantics and quantitative representation of the members. We conclude by generalizing the research results.","PeriodicalId":237233,"journal":{"name":"Nová filologická revue","volume":" 41","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141827895","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is why we decided to analyse the use of conceptual metaphors in the „Corona“- column of the German Spiegel‘s online portal in the three year period (2020, 2022 and 2023). In the centre of this analysis will be ten headlines with subtitles of articles, podcasts and reports on the topics of coronavirus conspiracy theories, measures, the mask affair and the loosening of coronavirus measures. This analysis aims to grasp different concepts related to the topic of the coronavirus discussing following questions: What types of conceptual metaphors are used (e.g. orientational metaphors or ontological metaphors)? Which frames or knowledge structures are present? What source areas do authors use to conceptually represent the target area? The theoretical part about the cognitive background of this article is based on Lakoff and Johnson’s approaches. First, expressions and syntagms will be explored semantically, then analysed conceptually within the context. The analysis will be supported by various online dictionaries (Duden-Online, DO; Digitales Wörterbuch der deutschen Sprache, DWDS). In addition, my own linguistic experience as well as morpho-syntactic and stylistic devices (sarcasm, irony, exaggerations, understatements) will be considered.","PeriodicalId":237233,"journal":{"name":"Nová filologická revue","volume":" 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141824661","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It first focuses on the development of thinking about this competence in Slovakia, mentioning translation studies scholars who asked themselves what knowledge and skills a good translator should possess. It also briefly describes how technical competence is defined by the international competence framework European Master’s in Translation. The next practical part of the article contains a comparative analysis of some of the existing Slovak research focused (not only) on the technical competence of Slovak translators. In the last part of the article, we present our attempt to propose a model of teaching translation with a focus on acquiring technical competence. In doing so, we draw on the aforementioned research on the Slovak translation market, on students’ requirements, the integrated model of teaching professional translation (Kraviarová, 2014; Angelovičová – Bachledová, 2021), Lisá and Newman’s model of competences (2020) and on technical competences as defined by EMT (2022). This article's main aim is to propose a model that reflects the current market needs, students’ demands and rapid technological development.","PeriodicalId":237233,"journal":{"name":"Nová filologická revue","volume":"11 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139600039","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
