In this paper neutral point voltage is balanced using sine PWM associated with phase shift technique. But for NPC inverters with more than three level even though neutral point voltage is balanced dc link capacitor voltages are unbalanced and neutral point voltage varies with a wide range, Hence a control strategy is proposed in this paper for controlling both problems and is applied for NPC three level, five level, seven level and nine level inverter. Simulation results are presented to show effectiveness of proposed equalizing control circuits. Total harmonic distortion (THD) values are observed for the developed control technique.","PeriodicalId":234609,"journal":{"name":"2016 11th International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems (ICIIS)","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115015525","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are several parameters for HEVC/H.265 encoder that are used in video encoding. During video encoding single standard configuration file is used for all the videos that may not maintain the quality in all encoded videos because most of the videos having varying speed of moveable objects; so there is a need to optimize the encoder parameters for all the videos separately. The aim of proposed work is to optimize the encoder parameters for higher compression ratio and higher PSNR value for every video independently. Here, NSGA-II is used to find out the optimum parameters for the encoder that can provide good quality encoded videos. Six QCIF format videos having 176×144 resolutions, are used here. The experimental results show that different videos required different configuration files for good quality compression.","PeriodicalId":234609,"journal":{"name":"2016 11th International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems (ICIIS)","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116242741","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Following the estimated shortest path for Autonomous underwater vehicle(AUVs) to reach the target location is impractical due to these underwater dynamics. Thus an efficient path replanning mechanism for AUVs that attempt to re-align itself with the estimated shortest path is required. This paper presents an efficient algorithm which estimates path dynamically towards the target. It uses a local search approach using image acquisition and segmentation that is simple to implement. A delay of 2 milliseconds is considered between capturing of two successive images on every local search to check the direction of movement of obstacle. The proposed algorithm re-plan its path from source to target faster and near to shortest distance in dynamic underwater scenario. Experiments were conducted to study the percentage deviation in the re-planned path distance to the target location indicated an average of 6.5 percent and 50 percent deviation for the cases of no drift and with drift respectively from the original shortest path distance.","PeriodicalId":234609,"journal":{"name":"2016 11th International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems (ICIIS)","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128213561","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays, subscribers want an effective and efficient communication technology which can support services to anyone in anywhere. Moreover, the weakness of terrestrial wireless communication technologies is unable to deliver broadband communication services to satisfy users who are living in thinly populated, remote, rural and hilly areas. Thus, we propose Tethered Balloon technology to provide broadband services, reduce the requirement of terrestrial infrastructure and make available broadband wireless communication connectivity, in thinly populated, remote, rural and hilly areas. We have examined various aspects of Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) broadband service from Tethered Balloon to show the effectiveness of providing the service delivery. Here, broadband service delivery is analyzed and simulated using Optimized Network Engineering Tool (OPNET) Modeler 14.5. The simulation results show significantly the effectiveness of delivering WiMAX via Tethered Balloon technology.","PeriodicalId":234609,"journal":{"name":"2016 11th International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems (ICIIS)","volume":"35 24","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133425997","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various capacity improvement techniques with multiple HAPs has been suggested such as cellular architecture and virtual multiple-input multiple-output (V-MIMO) systems. Maximizing system capacity in overlapped coverage area is still an open research area. In this scenario, we propose a system that maximizes capacity between two HAP and two ground stations. The main advantage of our proposed scheme is that each HAP can send data to the receiver without any cooperation. Restriction of precise beamforming of HAP antennas for cellular like architecture is removed with our scheme. The bit error rate performance of the proposed scheme in Rural and Urban scenarios are compared. In addition, the system capacity at various signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) values and Rician factors for multiple HAP configurations are analyzed. The simulation results validate the improvement in capacity compared to the existing schemes.","PeriodicalId":234609,"journal":{"name":"2016 11th International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems (ICIIS)","volume":"185 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116143448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such type of system is generally referred as E-STATCOM (STATCOM+ES) in the literature. In this paper, a Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) is used as a STATCOM and energy storage is integrated at the DC link of MMC. An E-STATCOM primarily functions as a STATCOM, but it has the ability to support active power at different time scale. So, separate systems, one for energy storage integration and the other for STATCOM operation can be avoided. In this paper, E-STATCOM is used to address the issues related to a PV dominated grid, e.g. power fluctuation due to variation of solar irradiance and power quality issues. The configuration is verified through simulation in PSCAD and the results show effectiveness of E-STATCOM for a PV-dominated grid.","PeriodicalId":234609,"journal":{"name":"2016 11th International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems (ICIIS)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125660695","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, in this paper we have studied the applicability of two different empirical approaches of soil moisture retrieval with PALSAR data for Solani river catchment area of Roorkee, Uttarakhand. These two approaches are Dubois model and Oh model. Sensitivity of Oh and Dubois model was observed for change in soil dielectric and surface roughness. Further, inversion technique was developed so that soil moisture can be retrieved with PALSAR data without having a priori information of soil surface roughness.
