The existence of a minimum dataset can be a valuable and standard tool for collecting and registering the data of these patients in the chronic venous disease registry. Therefore, the present study aimed to develop a minimal data set for chronic venous disease registry. Methods: This applied and descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in two stages in 2018-19. In the first step, information relevant to the data elements was extracted from Google's search engine and PubMed, Science Direct, and Google Scholar databases based on literature review without time constraints. In the second stage, a Delphi questionnaire was developed using the information obtained from the first stage and given to 15 vascular surgery specialists. During the two Delphi stages, the minimum data set for chronic venous disease registry was determined. Data analysis in both stages was conducted using descriptive statistics in the SPSS v.16 software. Results: In chronic venous disease, a total of 349 items were collected for the categorization of demographic information, communication, baseline information, and clinical categories. After the first Delphi phase, of the 336 gradable items, 215 gained the required score and 57 were deleted. Eventually, 63 items with a median of 3 and 3.5 based on the suggested items (13 items) were entered the Delphi. A total of 76 items entered the second phase, of which 28 items were selected eventually. Finally, 243 items in 16 subsets were determined as the minimum data set for chronic venous disease. Conclusion: Today, given the growing trend of chronic venous disease, the existence of a minimum data set can play an important role in improving the quality of care, reducing costs, and evaluating treatments. Moreover, it can be considered as a standard for data collection and registration in the registry.","PeriodicalId":231482,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Modern Medical Information Sciences","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116576181","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Early diagnosis of these illnesses improves their prognosis and leads to their timely treatment; therefore, increasing the knowledge of medical personnel regarding their early diagnosis seems to me essential. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of virtual education on the knowledge of general practitioners (GPs) about cardiovascular risk factors. Methods: This was a before and after interventional study. The study sample consisted of 40 general practitioners who worked in General Service Centers of Bandar Abbas. Subject were recruited by a census method. The required data were gathered by means of a questionnaire in two phases: once before the intervention, an educational file about cardiovascular risk factors which was given to the subjects via multimedia methods including booklets, CD, and social networks (Telegram, Whatsapp, and etc.), and once after the intervention after a one month interval. The questionnaires were filled out in the presence of the researcher. The acquired data was entered into the SPSS software version 19 and analyzed by appropriate statistical tests. Results: The results of this study showed that the knowledge of GPs about diabetes and hypertension significantly increased after the intervention (P-Value=0.02 and P-Value=0.000 respectively). Their knowledge of physical activities, obesity, smoking, the role of gender, and dyslipidemia also increased after the intervention; however, the increase was not statistically significant (P-Value=0.973, P-Value=0.167, P-Value=0.211, P-Value=0.211, and P-Value=0.236 respectively). GPs were also asked about the preferred method for education (booklets, CDs, and social networks) in the post-test questionnaire. 80% had chosed booklets and 20% had chosen social networks as their preferred method. None of the GPs preferred CDs. Conclusion: According to the results of our study, seemingly GPs prefer educational booklets over CDs or social networks as a means of their scientific education and this method of education without the need to literally attend any programs can be useful to increase the knowledge of GPs in different fields.","PeriodicalId":231482,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Modern Medical Information Sciences","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124073126","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
