All of the proposed methods contain two stages: edge detection and line fitting. In this paper, edge detection can search interest gradients depending on the intensity concentration. Meanwhile, the proposed line-fitting algorithm is able to precisely fit a line by minimizing the summation of L1 distance from each detected edge point to the fitted line. As the result, all of the proposed methods achieve accuracy of more than 85%. Going one step further, full-scale edge detection (FSED) obtains the best performance at 99.05%, which is evaluated by using a variety of real-world images.","PeriodicalId":229557,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics-Asia (ICCE-Asia)","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117024267","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is common usage pattern on these devices for a user to visit a relatively small set of websites repeatedly, which dominates the total browsing time. Exploiting this, modern web browsers cache downloaded resources in local disks such as HTML/JavaScript files and image files. While saving network bandwidth, resource caching does not eliminate redundant computation for processing these files. This paper presents an efficient in-memory code cache to improve the performance of interactive, dynamic webpages written in JavaScript. Evaluated on a production-grade JavaScript engine with JSBench, which record-and-replays five real-world websites, the proposed technique reduces both JavaScript compilation time and execution time by 57.9% and 30.9% on an embedded platform running at 2.3 GHz with 2GB RAM.","PeriodicalId":229557,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics-Asia (ICCE-Asia)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126574270","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We apply very deeply-cascaded classifier which is composed of heterogeneous feature-classifiers to capture various characteristics of images. We use 2 step classifiers, the first searches for the coarse features and the second for the fine features. Both of the features are composed of HAAR like feature classifiers and Gabor classifiers while the 1st coarse classifier uses 700 classifiers and the 2nd uses 1350 classifiers. For the very-deeply cascaded face detector, we developed dedicated HW engine to process a feature per a cycle. The face detection is implemented in a Xilinx Virtex-7 device. For face recognition SW co-design, we also developed a virtual platform (VP). We co-verified face detection engine and face recognition SW running on a conventional operating system (OS) using the VP. Face detector operates over 30 frame/s at 50 MHz frequency for real-time applications up-to 640×480 size image.","PeriodicalId":229557,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics-Asia (ICCE-Asia)","volume":"118 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123169522","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Intelligent transportation system (ITS) is introduced as a part of the global efforts and advanced application to fill the needs. It has been shown to be promising strategy as it could enhance the traffic efficiency and promote on-road traffic safety through the utilisation of both vehicle-to-roadside (V2R) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications. This special kind of communication is known as Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET) technology. Multihop ad hoc network paradigm is considered to be backbone for many VANET development. Besides, the researches on VANET are mostly inherited from the result of Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) related to multihop ad hoc transmission and routing protocol which have been modified and adjusted to acclimate to the feature of vehicular field. Due to rapid growth of VANET, IEEE standard committee (IEEE 802) has develop a standard defining functions and operation for VANET. This paper aims to accurately simulate the behaviour of VANET simulation with the key parameters of the standard developed by IEEE 802 committee. The performance of this standard is evaluated in the network simulation environment in Matlab with realistic vehicular mobility model.","PeriodicalId":229557,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics-Asia (ICCE-Asia)","volume":"311 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131732024","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
