For an optimised performance, the CAL 4 (Controlled Axial Lifetime) diode from SEMIKRON, especially designed for the fourth IGBT generation, will be used. This combination of new technologies in the latest power module package shows lower switching and conduction losses in comparison to the former chip generations. Decentralized self-organizing fuzzy control scheme is suggested first. The controller for each link consists of a feed forward torque-computing system and feedback PD system. The feed forward system is designed by fuzzy system and then trained and optimized offline by the intelligent methods such as adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS), artificial neural network (ANN) and genetic algorithm (GA), that is to say, not only the parameters but also the structure of the fuzzy system are self organized. The efficiency of these decision logic methods are compared by analyzing the performance of feed forward systems. The feed back PD system is again a fuzzy system in which proportional and derivative gains are adjusted properly to keep the closed-loop system stable. The speed of the DC servomotor can be controlled by varying the average value of the armature voltage. The same is achieved using push-pull ZCS-QRC by varying the duty cycle of the switching pulses. The converter employs a zero-current switched full-wave push-pull structure. It allows high power density and full exploitation of the transformer core. An analytical study on zero-current switched full-wave push-pull DC-DC converter is presented in detail. Open loop and closed loop control of DC servomotor using DSP TMS320LF2407 controller is also achieved. However hybrid PWM method which uses both high and low switching signals, reduces the overall switching losses. The switches driven with high frequency switching signals dissipates more heat compared to the switches driven with low frequency switching signals. This results in unequal temperature rise in the switches leading to low reliability. The proposed paper work is to evolve simple and effective method for optimum generation dispatch to minimise the fuel cost, environmental cost and security requirement of power networks. The approach is based on the bi-criterion global optimisation and particle swarm optimisation (PSO) technique. The proposed technique is tested on 3-area interconnected and longitudinal system. The effectiveness of the proposed optimisation is verified in simulation studies using MATLAB software. The intelligence for braking is provided by a fuzzy logic controller. The fuzzy logic controller is simulated using Matlab-Simulink fuzzy logic toolbox. Generally the Indian railways use two persons to operate a train and they employ a manual procedure for stopping the train in each station. The proposed fuzzy logic controller helps in reduction of manpower for the train operation. The paper presents the simulation studies on a cascaded H-bridge converter based DSTATCOM for power factor improvement in power distribution set-up using load side compensation. In this novel control strategy, load reactive current is monitored and set as a reference for DSTATCOM controller in such a way that DSTATCOM is able to supply the reactive power demanded by the load both during steady state and transient conditions.
