Any desired shape and any direction of the radiated beam can be generated by controlling the modulation phase of each radiating element which contains a PIN-diode mounted at the feeding point. In order to resolve the ambiguity of the two sidelobes a multistage single sideband detector is incorporated into the system. The operating. principle is discussed and some possible applications are given.","PeriodicalId":227595,"journal":{"name":"1986 16th European Microwave Conference","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1986-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126338980","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They decrease the signal-to-noise-ratio of the system. Therefore long-range applications in general are performed by pulsed radars. With the development of new solid state RF sources and broadband integrated matched filters continuous wave radars become more attractive. They have two important advantages: they are smaller in size and cheaper. Thus it is useful to find new ways to improve the S/N-ratio of these systems. As could be shown /1,2/ the introduction of a spatial filter can improve the performance of a frequency modulated CW-Radar. This report will present first results obtained from a frequency hopped FMCW-System.","PeriodicalId":227595,"journal":{"name":"1986 16th European Microwave Conference","volume":"118 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1986-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114217188","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
