Several studies reflected the fact that this balancing act goes hand-in-hand with the level of stress. The scope of the study was to find out whether working students in the Faculty of Engineering Sibiu experience different levels of stress compared with the non-working students. Eighty students from the third year of studies were interviewed regarding the research topic. The interviewed students were randomly selected, five working and five non-working students from each of the eight faculty specializations. The results of the study reflect the fact that the management of the faculty and the professors themselves must take into consideration that stress is a factor that affects students’ performance and behavior.","PeriodicalId":221827,"journal":{"name":"Balkan Region Conference on Engineering and Business Education","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127538299","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However not only the curriculum matters and the passed contents, but also applied teaching methods. The method related to Case Study may provide a good tool for economy and entrepreneurship teaching, as it focuses not only on the problem, but also on a student and takes into account teamwork. This method facilitates the analysis of enterprising attitude and economic practice, whereas shaping the soft competences stimulates knowledge transmission, facilitates knowledge assimilation and may contribute to development of enterprising attitude.","PeriodicalId":221827,"journal":{"name":"Balkan Region Conference on Engineering and Business Education","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121618640","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the students are from different cultures and with different educational backgrounds. The guiding research question is as follows: How to organize the exchange between German and Southern Africa’s students who are from different cultures and with different educational backgrounds? The purpose of the work is to work out the organizational model of intercultural and interdisciplinary students’ exchange underpinning analysis of the students’ evaluation of their participation in an intercultural and interdisciplinary team. The research methodology comprises the study of the meaning of the key concepts of “culture”, “intercultural” and “interdisciplinary”. Moreover, the analysis demonstrates how the key concepts are related to the idea of renewable energies. Explorative study was carried out during the PEESA II Summer School in Vanderbijlpark, South Africa, in 2017. The empirical findings indicate that the students evaluation of their participation in an intercultural and interdisciplinary team is positive. Directions of further research are proposed. The novel contribution of the paper is the newly formulated hypothesis.","PeriodicalId":221827,"journal":{"name":"Balkan Region Conference on Engineering and Business Education","volume":"518 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123117964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Buying a system from the market is a viable option but many times the cost of it is prohibitive for the low budgets of University projects. This paper investigates the idea of implementing an own data acquisition system with use in small educational projects. Together with the advantage of cost reduction, an own implementation is an engineering exercise in itself, providing learning opportunities for the student. The paper presents first the results of a market scan for development platforms which can be used and then an example implementation of a simple data acquisition system using a low cost development platform. The performance of the implemented system is measured and presented. The main purpose of this paper is to encourage students and young researchers to implement their own tools, using this learning experiences along the way of meeting the project targets.","PeriodicalId":221827,"journal":{"name":"Balkan Region Conference on Engineering and Business Education","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134126187","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most networks are IP based or moving to an IP based infrastructure, including the latest 4G LTE and the future 5G networks. Understanding and being able to predict the behavior and performance of such networks in various scenarios and conditions is critical. This drives the need to study IP impairments in wireless telecommunications networks and to assess their impact on network and service performance. One method is to emulate/generate IP impairments while observing and measuring their impact on network performance. In this paper the authors analyze the challenges associated with analyzing the behavior of mobile wireless networks. They discuss the importance and benefits of IP impairments testing and mention the high cost of dedicated IP impairment emulators for telecommunications. A flexible and affordable solution is proposed for educational purposes and the study of IP impairments on wireless telecommunication networks.","PeriodicalId":221827,"journal":{"name":"Balkan Region Conference on Engineering and Business Education","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131692508","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Word Embedding is a new tendency used in the natural language processing domain that tries to represent each word from the document in a vector format. This representation embeds the semantically context in that the word occurs more frequently. We include this new representation in a classical VSM document representation and evaluate it using a learning algorithm based on the Support Vector Machine. This new added information makes the classification to be more difficult because it increases the learning time and the memory needed. The obtained results are slightly weaker comparatively with the classical VSM document representation. By adding the WE representation to the classical VSM representation we want to improve the current educational paradigm for the computer science students which is generally limited to the VSM representation.","PeriodicalId":221827,"journal":{"name":"Balkan Region Conference on Engineering and Business Education","volume":"105 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124865617","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Strongly worded, either students can program when they enter the university or they never learn it. The challenge is to address as many students as possible in such a way that they get an understanding of programming and become able to complete the course successfully. In contrary to traditional structured programming the Objects-First approach starts with classes and objects and introduces data types and programming statements whenever they are necessary to define the structure or behaviour of objects. The author has used the Objects-First approach for more than ten years. Almost the same content has been used all over the years but the way of teaching has changed. For the last two years the author has used elements of just-in-time teaching. The paper reviews the different teaching approaches based on the exams results. The author argues that teaching style has a minor influence. The social atmosphere among the students is a more crucial factor.","PeriodicalId":221827,"journal":{"name":"Balkan Region Conference on Engineering and Business Education","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122018083","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
