From just tool, ICT is being viewed in itself as quality or as catalyst for quality improvement. These findings have led universities worldwide to adopt ICT regardless of uncertainties. Consequently, not all of them succeeded. Proofs from cases around the world show that ICT produces positive impact only in the environment that fits. Such environment is fostered by an effective change management approach. The main aim of this paper is therefore to present the symbiotic relationship between ICT and change management, zeroing on how changes are managed to attain a proper ICT ecosystem for education quality improvement. It also aims to understand, through the conducts of extensive bibliographical research, along with critical content analyses, the roles of ICT in education, its design and impacts, and what constitutes effective change management approach for ICT inclusion. Key findings include: that the integration of ICT alone does not necessarily produce direct positive impact on teaching and learning, but its design; that a good design requires a proper change management process, driven by ICT, and that the involvement of all stakeholders, particularly functional managers, is critical to attain better performances.","PeriodicalId":221827,"journal":{"name":"Balkan Region Conference on Engineering and Business Education","volume":"293 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121718552","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such globalization is driven by the evolution of both the engineering sciences by themselves as well as the evolution of technology and the professional environment. Approaching emotional intelligence as a support for professional development in engineering education is analyzed as a potentiation of necessary competences and abilities for academic performance in the engineering education environment as well as for reaching a high level of engineering professional performance in a diverse social context. The article includes an analysis of the current state in the field of theory and scientific investigation of emotional intelligence as it is relevant for engineering education. Such an analysis has been developed by using the morphological matrix of ideas by associating the conceptual dimensions of emotional intelligence with human factors that are relevant for engineering education. Based on the conclusions developed by the use of this instrument there have been developed possible scientific investigation objectives that are in coordination with the proposed theme.","PeriodicalId":221827,"journal":{"name":"Balkan Region Conference on Engineering and Business Education","volume":"241 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133205466","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to the actual situation of the school, the model of matter-element for pioneering education is established on the ideal of multi-factor optimization integration; pioneering education quality is evaluated by qualitative means based on the matterelement theory and quantitative means based on dependent function. Proposed method not only formally describes the status of the various effecting factors of pioneering education, but also gives an accurate evaluation of the pioneering education quality. In order to verify the validity and feasibility of proposed method, a college’ pioneering education is assessed as example.","PeriodicalId":221827,"journal":{"name":"Balkan Region Conference on Engineering and Business Education","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117210501","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research has been accomplished using various bibliographical sources, books, scientific reports, internal reports and information material. This paper analyses different national and international studies in the field of supply chain management, converge to identify eventual differences concerning authors’ opinion, problems and research gaps. It has been found that the specialty literature analyses in general subjects such as supply chain management, supplier performance, suppliers’ selection and evaluation, suppliers’ development, performance management and do not take into consideration also the supply chain management performance, so that various gaps concerning the specialty literature in the field of supply chain management performance evaluation have been identified. It is thus proposed that these research results are disseminated with the aid of a knowledge transfer eLearning platform within the “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu. This platform allows university personnel and its students gain access to specific academic findings.","PeriodicalId":221827,"journal":{"name":"Balkan Region Conference on Engineering and Business Education","volume":"34 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114042271","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Universities started to apply different approaches for achieving better results, on building greater knowledge and skills for their students. The paper presents a methodology of teaching quality techniques and DFSS methodology, an approach that is focused on understanding the concepts through technical examples from industry and applying the knowledge within a project. A model is proposed for teaching Design for Six Sigma methodology through a workshop done in the classroom. The students are split into groups and will practically work through the main elements of DFSS methodology, for improving the quality of a chosen product by re-designing it. The objective of research is to analyze the performance of this methodology and to identify the strong points. The measurement is done through feedbacks received from students, that is presented at the end of the paper. The methodologies used during research consist of bibliographic research, observational study on classroom, questionnaire and interview technique.","PeriodicalId":221827,"journal":{"name":"Balkan Region Conference on Engineering and Business Education","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128519316","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this paper is to examine different aspects and approaches regarding sustainability, sustainable development, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the context of business education. The research is based on a literature review, on the experience gained as a result of our participation in various projects and international activities regarding the above-mentioned concepts, and on the results of several qualitative and quantitative marketing researches developed by the authors. Based on these findings we are underlining the fact that the concepts related to CSR and its components are not well known by managers of companies and public institutions and we also point out the fact that the respondents that have knowledge and skills in this field, have acquired most of them outside the formal education system. Furthermore, the paper contributes to the discussion needed to take place in order to understand that universities should make important steps not only for reorienting curriculum, developing programs, and modules, but also in implementing innovative teaching methods in order to integrate such topics in their educational programs.","PeriodicalId":221827,"journal":{"name":"Balkan Region Conference on Engineering and Business Education","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133965430","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this respect, smart technologies bring both an opportunity, providing solutions to assist elders’ life and a barrier coming from the lower acceptance of older adults for digital technologies. The paper proposes a research focused on education and its influence on older adults’ readiness to adopt new, digital technologies. As reference the two versions of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT and UTAUT2) were used. The research is based on a systematic literature review aimed to draft a conceptual framework placed on two dimensions: the first one tries to establish \"if and how the initial education is influencing the elders’ acceptance of assistive technologies\" and, the second targeting \"how this initial education is correlated and/or imbedded in the elements of the UTAUT models\".","PeriodicalId":221827,"journal":{"name":"Balkan Region Conference on Engineering and Business Education","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130938477","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the present research we will try to identify how factors such as the average obtained in the baccalaureate exam, the place of provenance and the number of credits obtained at the end of the first year of study influence the abandonment. Using a bivariate analysis method, we followed the correlation between the variables \"number of students expelled after the first year of study\" in the case of students enrolled in the first year of study and having obtained a \"grade less than or equal to 7 in the baccalaureate exam\" and, respectively the correlation between the variable \"number of students expelled after the first year of study\" and the origin from urban or rural areas. As can be seen from the data collected, an obvious need to investigate the expectation of students at high risk of drop out - as regards the teacher-student relationship - can be presumed: what are the most effective ways of transmitting knowledge and what communication is acceptable by college students.","PeriodicalId":221827,"journal":{"name":"Balkan Region Conference on Engineering and Business Education","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130989743","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditionally governments are the main financial contributor to education however, the involvement of the private sector is an increasing one. While more established in primary and secondary education, PPPs in tertiary education are a phenomenon rather slowly growing in the past decades (Patrinos, Barrera-Osorio, & Guaqueta, 2009). There are various concepts of PPPs in higher education each targeting different goals. In order to give an insight into different types of PPPs, the typology according to Mabizela has been briefly displayed and the case of a PPP in Namibia is given. The framework of the partnership was compiled to give an outlook on the practicability of partnerships. The paper exemplifies that both partners within a PPP can benefit from the added value they may generate for their target group. Thus, the benefit depends on quality, relevance and execution of the partnership.","PeriodicalId":221827,"journal":{"name":"Balkan Region Conference on Engineering and Business Education","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133637977","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
