Resistance evaluation in popularrice cultivars taken up during 2020-21 season at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Maruteru(field studies) and Division of Plant Pathology, ICAR-IARI, New Delhi (lab studies) for identificationof resistance sources for further breeding programmes using resistance components revealedthat using single phenotypic component based arbitrary scale may not reveal the true varietalnature with respect to disease resistance and needs to consider the host-pathogen populationdynamics. Among the three basic resistance components studied, rate of infection (RRBR) andincubation period (RRIP) found to have greater bearing on sheath blight resistance, whereas,lesion length (RRLL) found to be a less potential indicator for quantifying the resistance levels inthe rice cultivars for sheath blight.","PeriodicalId":220721,"journal":{"name":"THE JOURNAL OF RESEARCH ANGRAU","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115675958","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The material consisting of all the six generations (P1, P1, F1, F2, BC1 and BC2 ) revealed the role of digenic interactions in the inheritance of blast disease which was taken up at Agricultural Research Station, Nellore during 2017-18 rabi seson. In F1 generation, all the hybrid combinations showed resistant reaction for blast. In case of F2 generation, duplicate type of epistasis was observed in the cross combinations viz., RNR 2465 x NLR 145, BPT 5204 x IR 64, BPT 5204 x NLR 34449 and RNR2465 x IR 64 indicating that the involvement of digenic gene action and selection for this trait will be taken up in the later generations when desirable transgressive segregants are available. The crosses BPT 5204 x IR 36 and WGL 48684 x IR 36 exhibited 3:1 type of phenotypic ratio (R:S) indicating that single dominant gene governs the resistant reaction in these crosses. ","PeriodicalId":220721,"journal":{"name":"THE JOURNAL OF RESEARCH ANGRAU","volume":"208 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134269822","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was carried out in College of Community Science, ANGRAU, Lam, Guntur in the year of 2021-2022. In this study guava based RTS beverage was formulated with different proportions of guava pulp and water i.e., (RTSBF1) 20:80, (RTSBF2) 30:70 and (RTSBF3) 40:60 with equal amounts of sugar and citric acid. The products were organoleptically evaluated using 9 points hedonic rating scale by a semi-trained judge. The oneway ANOVA was used for a significant difference test in the mean scores of sensory evaluation. The RTS beverage prepared from (RTSBF3) 40:60 guava pulp and water were found to be superior over other proportions in respect of mean scores of organoleptic attributes i.e., colour (7.96), appearance (8.16), taste (7.52), flavour (7.20), consistency (6.88) and overall acceptability (7.60). Acceptability of the product was increased with the quantity of pulp in preparation for the RTS beverage. RTSBF3 has high nutritive content compared to regular beverages and other formulations due to the high quantity of guava pulp.","PeriodicalId":220721,"journal":{"name":"THE JOURNAL OF RESEARCH ANGRAU","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125422971","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

All the parameters showed significant variance. Thousand grains weight showed positive correlation with hulling per cent (r=0.748), milling percent (r=0.981), head rice recovery (r=0.594), kernel length (r=0.947) and kernel breadth(r=0.932). In terms of physical quality, 1000 grain weight of Burma black showed greater value due to its large grain size which is treated as undesirable. In terms of chemical quality traits, all the rice varieties except control had intermediate amylose content (20-25%) and intermediate alkali spreading value (4-5). These were considered as key characteristics to improve rice grain quality.","PeriodicalId":220721,"journal":{"name":"THE JOURNAL OF RESEARCH ANGRAU","volume":"791 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122629266","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two susceptible cultivars (Arka Meghali and Arka Vikas) and two resistant lines (H-7996 and H-7997) of tomato were crossed during kharif , 2020 in four possible combinations to generate the experimental material. The P1, P2, F1, F2 BC1 and BC2 generations of 4 crosses were screened for bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum (E.F. Smith) in tomato research fields of Monsanto Holdings Private Ltd., Kallinayakana Halli village, Gauribidanuru Taluka, Chikkaballapura District, Karnataka to understand the mode of inheritance. Single dominant gene controlling the resistance to bacterial wilt was observed in two crosses between Arka Meghali x H-7996 and Arka Vikas x H- 7997. Chi-square test for goodness of fit indicated that the F2 is segregating in the ratio 3 resistant to 1 susceptible in the single gene model. Resistant to susceptible ratio in BC2 was 1:1. While, in the crosses between Arka Vikas x H-7996 and Arka Meghali x H-7997 the complimentary gene interaction was observed with the F2 expected ratio of 9:7 indicating duplicate recessive epistasis.","PeriodicalId":220721,"journal":{"name":"THE JOURNAL OF RESEARCH ANGRAU","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124695206","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The lab experiment was conducted during the year 2021 in Tamil Nadu under in-vitro conditions to investigate the pathogen and its character. On PSA medium the colony was creamy white to white, flat, circular and raised. The fluffy, compact, leathery hyaline mycelium showed septation and the width of the mycelia was about 4.26 μm. On the obverse side of the Petri plate, a slight olive-green tinch was observed. The colony diameter ranged from 30 mm to 70 mm. Conidia were hyaline, spherical to globose in shape and warty with a width of 5.24 μm approximately. The chlamydospores were echinulated and spines were prominently decorated. Overall, the results of the investigation showed that the collected isolates of false smut were confirmed based on morphological characteristics.","PeriodicalId":220721,"journal":{"name":"THE JOURNAL OF RESEARCH ANGRAU","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127831762","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
