However, the relevance of past to the future depends on the application domain in a specific timeframe. In this paper, we present a method of predicting the future from temporal data using information decay technique that estimate the relevance of the past to the future with the help of the knowledge of the information lifetime of the temporal data. We show how to use a decision tree data mining technique to build an information-decay-based predictive model by introducing an information decay method in impurity measure functions. The relevance of the concepts is proven by comparing two decision tree-based classifiers: one built using information decay over a specific timeframe and the other built setting aside the time factor.","PeriodicalId":206833,"journal":{"name":"2010 Third International Symposium on Information Science and Engineering","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126166751","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unlike translators in the traditional sense, localization translators translate with the aid of the translation memory (TM) tools, which is the core of computer-aided translation technology. Semantic information at word and sentence levels is beneficial to efficient retrieval and higher translation quality. This paper analyzes the properties of localization translation and presents an ontology-based translation memory model that is specific to localization translation. This model owns two types of ontologies, i.e., the universal ontology and the specialized ontology. The former gives the semantic explanation of universal concepts and is based on HowNet and WordNet, the latter aims to define the semantics of concepts and terminology belonging to the localization domain and some specialized areas such as the domain of railways. A systematic workflow for constructing the specialized ontology is also illustrated. The semantic similarity metrics at the word and sentence levels are designed to measure the degree of similarity between the sentence to be translated and its candidate translated sentences. These metrics support retrieval from memory bases of similar sentences translated previously. It is revealed that applying ontologies in localization translation can improve the efficiency of localization translation, guarantee the translation quality and speed up the process of software localization.","PeriodicalId":206833,"journal":{"name":"2010 Third International Symposium on Information Science and Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130775758","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the EEG signal analysis process, Approximate Entropy (ApEn) as a complexity based method appears to have potential for the application to physiological and clinical time-series data. In our previous studies, in the condition of knowing about the clinical state of patients from the standard process of brain-death diagnosis, the same results could be obtained by using our developed ApEn measure for quasi-brain-death EEG. In this paper, we present this dynamic complexity measure based blind experiment without knowing about the clinical symptoms of patients beforehand. Features obtained from three typical cases indicate one patient being in coma and the other changing from com to quasi-brain-death. Being identical to further clinical diagnose, results of thirteen cases from nine patients illustrate the effectiveness of our proposed method and implies its significance of a reference for brain death diagnosis in clinical practice.","PeriodicalId":206833,"journal":{"name":"2010 Third International Symposium on Information Science and Engineering","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126507330","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main principle is that the messages passing in the bipartite graph of the codes are the probability differences and the updates of the check nodes adopt min sum algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve about 0.4dB performance gain over the UMP BP-Based decoding algorithm at bit error rate (BER) of under an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. This kind of spectrometer theoretically requires that flying platform keeps uniform moving velocity and steady attitude in the imaging mode, as well as the imaging motion in each two neighboring interferograms is one array of pixels. The unsteadiness of platform would not only cause problems such as distortion, mixed pixels and lower signal-noise ratio on acquired spatial images, but also produce deviation and decadence of interferograms away from ideal ones, bringing the distortion of real spectra. The abnormal image motion model between satellite attitude and the data acquired by SMIFTS is built based on the theory that projection center of a sensor, an image point and an object on the ground are in the same line. This paper calculates the image motions between different frames, assuming that the pitch angle and yaw angle are same, And moreover, analyzes the effect of the attitude steadiness on the data quality of SMIFTS. The results show that, pitch angle bringing distortion of neighboring interferograms in along-orbit directions has most serious effect, the image gradient decrease obviouly and the discrepancy between interferogram and spectra is bigger, yaw angle bringing the relative rotation of neighboring interferograms has the less serious effect on images and spectra. To get the real spectra of the object, we should take some measures to correct it.","PeriodicalId":206833,"journal":{"name":"2010 Third International Symposium on Information Science and Engineering","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121867930","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
