Methods: A total of 50 patients with breast tumors treated between July 2021 and February 2023 were randomly selected as samples. Both paraffin section and frozen section diagnoses were conducted. The paraffin section results served as the gold standard for evaluating the value of frozen section examination. Results: Among the frozen section diagnoses, 48 cases (96.00%) were confirmed, 1 case was misdiagnosed (2.00%), and 1 case was delayed (2.00%). Among the confirmed patients, 45 cases (90.00%) were entirely consistent, and 3 cases (6.00%) were basically consistent. The diagnostic rate of the frozen section was 96.00%, compared with 100.00% for the paraffin section (P > 0.05). The diagnostic time of the frozen section (35.25 ± 2.11 min) was significantly shorter than that for the paraffin section (6911.36 ± 58.36 min; P < 0.05). Conclusion: Frozen section diagnosis is rapid and demonstrates relatively high diagnostic accuracy. It can guide doctors in determining whether to pursue breast-conserving treatment and aid in selecting appropriate surgical methods. This is beneficial for preventing unnecessary medical interventions and reducing the need for secondary surgeries in breast cancer patients.","PeriodicalId":20511,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of Anticancer Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139247300","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Natural antimicrobial compounds play a vital role in textile finishing processes. The proliferation of synthetic antimicrobial agents introduces environmental and consumer safety concerns. Given these potential hazards associated with synthetic agents, the utilization of natural antimicrobial agents is gaining traction, as they tend to have fewer adverse effects on users and are more environmentally sustainable. Numerous natural antimicrobial compounds, sourced from plants such as neem, basil, turmeric, aloe vera, and clove oil, have been developed, showcasing inherent antimicrobial properties. This review article highlights the importance of incorporating bioactive components in the creation of antibacterial textile fabrics.","PeriodicalId":20511,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of Anticancer Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139286004","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In recent years, with the rapid development of immunotherapy, the treatment effect of advanced gastric cancer has been significantly improved. This article introduces the current status and clinical research progress of immune checkpoint inhibitors in advanced gastric cancer. Commonly used immunotherapy methods include chemical drug therapy, biological therapy, and gene therapy, among which the immune checkpoint inhibitors are currently one of the most popular immunotherapy methods, including nivolumab, pembrolizumab, and atezolizumab, which target programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) low expression (1%–49%) and PD-L1 high expression (≥50%). The results of clinical studies have shown that immunotherapy can significantly prolong the survival of patients with advanced gastric cancer while having lower toxic side effects and better tolerance. However, immunotherapy also has some problems, such as drug resistance and repeated infection. Future research directions include exploring new immunotherapy methods, combination therapy, and individualized therapy.","PeriodicalId":20511,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of Anticancer Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135864076","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: A total of 98 elderly frail patients with chronic kidney disease were included in this study from June 2020 to July 2022. The patients were randomly divided into a study group of 48 cases and a control group of 50 cases. The control group only received conventional treatment for chronic kidney disease. On the basis of conventional treatment for chronic kidney disease, the study group added sarcopenia intervention treatment. The quality-of-life scores, muscle mass and muscle strength, renal function, and incidence of complications of the two groups were observed and analyzed. Results: The quality-of-life score, muscle mass and muscle strength, and renal function of the study group were significantly better than those of the control group (P < 0.05); the incidence of complications in the study group was 12.5%, which was significantly lower than that of the control group 36% of the group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: There is a close relationship between sarcopenia and frail elderly patients with chronic kidney disease. Sarcopenia will further aggravate the frailty symptoms and increase the risk of complications in elderly patients with chronic kidney disease. For elderly patients with chronic kidney disease, sarcopenia should be screened and intervened as early as possible to improve the prognosis and quality of life of the patients.","PeriodicalId":20511,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of Anticancer Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135864633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: The convenience sampling method was used to select 362 elderly cancer patients who were consecutively admitted to the Oncology Department of the Affiliated Hospital of Hebei University from April 2020 to March 2021. The patients had five physical dimensions of activity tested and were divided into a frail group (n = 128) and a non-frail group (n = 234) based on the test results. The Chinese version of the Vulnerable Elders Questionnaire was formed on the basis of the Vulnerable Elders Survey-13 (VES-13). The two groups of patients were surveyed within three days of admission. The questionnaire includes general information (age, gender, education level, marital status, monthly income, living area, smoking, and alcohol history, hearing, vision, and sleep status), Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS), Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA), Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), and Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI). Results: (1) By comparing the general information of the two groups of patients, it was found that the gender, education level, marital status, living area, and history of tobacco and alcohol had no statistical significance (P > 0.05). In contrast, the frail group’s age, hearing status, vision status, and sleep status are significantly worse than those of the non-frail group (P < 0.05); (2) Analysis of Vulnerable Elderly Questionnaire results found that the GDS scores in the frail group were higher than those in the non-frail group, and the MNA and MMSE scores were lower than those in the non-frail group (P < 0.05). This indicated that the patients in the frail group had more severe depression, poor nutritional status, and specific impairments in cognitive function. Conclusion: Frailty adversely affects elderly cancer patients, and effective measures should be taken to intervene.","PeriodicalId":20511,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of Anticancer Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135865893","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been established that polysaccharides made from marine sources and their derivatives have antiviral effects against potent viruses. Agricultural, biological, food, and pharmaceutical industries all make extensive use of goods obtained from algae. The most well-known chemical components found in algae are polysaccharides, which have been the subject of a variety of studies because of their varied bioactivities. Polysaccharides made from algae have recently risen to the top of pharmaceutical research due to their fascinating antiviral potential. Currently, COVID-19 can be prevented with vaccination, but the brown alga Sargassum wightii has several bioactive compounds that have the following qualities and may be a better option. S. wightii is one of the marine algae species that is rich in sulfated polysaccharides, the secondary metabolites which have antiviral action and the capacity to prevent viral proliferation. Fucoidan, a long-chain sulfated polysaccharide found in various brown algae, has potent antiviral effects. Additionally, sulfated polysaccharides from green algae (such as ulvans) and red algae (such as carrageenan), and lectins from red algae (such as griffithsin) have antiviral therapeutic agents against coronaviruses and other viruses. This research focuses on screening seaweeds for possible antiviral compounds to treat viral infections notably COVID-19.","PeriodicalId":20511,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of Anticancer Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135864612","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
