Methods: Relevant data were collected from 80 patients with oral and maxillofacial malignant tumors who attended the outpatient clinic for follow-up consultations between May 2021 to May 2023. The patients used the psychological distress thermometer (DT) to circle words that best described their experiences in the past week, assigning a numerical value (0–10) to indicate their pain level on each day. The scoring results were employed to assess the psychological pain in these patients. A self-developed patient basic information questionnaire was utilized to record demographic details. Logistic regression analysis was employed to evaluate patients two weeks after surgery, focusing on the assessment of psychological distress and the identification and location of driving factors. Results: Following evaluation, the results revealed that the average postoperative DT score for the 80 patients with oral and maxillofacial malignant tumors was 4.53 ± 1.98 points. Scores < 4 points indicated no psychological pain (Group N) in 48 cases, while scores ≥ 4 points indicated psychological pain (Group Y) in 32 cases. The differences in postoperative DT scores among patients with varying educational levels, fears and worries about disease progression, economic problems, sleep problems, level of hope, and oral pain were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Multiple linear regression analysis results indicated that education level, fear and worry about disease progression, economic problems, sleep problems, level of hope, and oral pain are driving factors of postoperative psychological pain in patients with oral and maxillofacial malignant tumors (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The postoperative psychological pain level in patients with oral and maxillofacial malignant tumors is at a moderate level. Educational level, fear and worry about disease progression, economic problems, sleep problems, level of hope, and oral pain were identified as driving factors for postoperative psychological pain in these patients.","PeriodicalId":20511,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of Anticancer Research","volume":"41 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139247789","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These conditions prompt tumor cells to generate endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS). As a signal mechanism that mitigates ERS in eukaryotic cells, the unfolded protein response (UPR) pathway can activate cells and tissues, regulating pathological activities in various cells, and maintaining ER homeostasis. It forms the most crucial adaptive and defensive mechanism for cells. However, under the continuous influence of chemotherapy drugs, the quantity of unfolded proteins and erroneous proteins produced by tumor cells significantly increases, surpassing the normal regulatory range of UPR. Consequently, ERS fails to function properly, fostering tumor cell proliferation and the development of drug resistance. This review delves into the study of three UPR pathways (PERK, IRE1, and ATF6), elucidating the mechanisms of drug resistance and research progress in the signal transduction pathway of UPR related to cancers. It provides a profound understanding of the role and relationship between UPR and anti-tumor drugs, offering a new direction for effective clinical treatment.","PeriodicalId":20511,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of Anticancer Research","volume":"51 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139249013","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The cyclic AMP-responsive element-binding protein 3 (CREB3) transcription factor family is closely associated with the secretion and transport of proteins within the endoplasmic reticulum. As a member of the CREB3 transcription factor family, cyclic AMP-responsive element-binding protein 3-like protein 2 (CREB3L2) stands out as a non-classical sensor within the endoplasmic reticulum. CREB3L2 can detect and regulate endoplasmic reticulum pressure, exert control over the processes of protein transport and secretion, participate in the development of tumor cells, and is also closely linked to the development of certain human tissues and organs. This article aims to review the role of CREB3L2 in tissue development and disease, shedding light on the related mechanisms of CREB3L2 in cancer development. The goal is to provide insights and directions for further analysis of CREB3L2.","PeriodicalId":20511,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of Anticancer Research","volume":"277 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139247974","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
